'People will die': #Maine nurses protest #MedicaidCuts in Trump's 'big, beautiful bill'

PORTLAND, Maine (WGME) -- "Senators could vote on Tuesday on President Donald #Trump's self-proclaimed '#BigBeautifulBill,' a sweeping policy document that lawmakers have been debating all day and night.

"They are in a phase where any senator can add an amendment, known as a 'vote-a-rama.'

"While the president was hoping to see it on his desk by July 4, senators have been back and forth since the weekend.

"One of the biggest hang ups between the parties has been proposed cuts to health care and programs like Medicaid.

"Nurses from across the state will be outside of Senator Susan Collins’ district office in Portland on Tuesday to protest the proposed medical cuts under Trump’s bill.

"This is part of a nationwide effort held by the group #NationalNursesUnited, which is the nation's largest #union of registered nurses.

"New estimates from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office show nearly 12 million Americans could lose their health insurance if Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' passes.

"Medicaid provides health care coverage to the most vulnerable populations. More than one in five people in the U.S. had health care covered by Medicaid in 2023, according to National Nurses United.

"Senator #AngusKing says an analysis shows 60,000 people in Maine would lose their coverage. That's 40,000 under #Medicaid and 20,000 under the #AffordableCareAct.

"Without insurance, he says people will die because they won't have access to routine care.

" 'The idea of cutting health insurance from people is not just, 'Oh well, they just won't have coverage for their doctor’s visits.' No, people die when they don’t have health insurance. There is statistical analysis to bear that out,' said King.

That shift is increasing the need for flexibility and storage options in the power system. That’s where Norway comes in. Norwegian hydropower can respond very quickly to fluctuations in demand, exporting large amounts of electricity when there’s not much wind or sun in Europe, and then import power when there’s a surplus and prices are low.

It's time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Joe Dever's release of “Flight from the Dark,” and I'D LIKE TO APOLOGIZE TO HIS SPIRIT NOW FOR THIS MESS OF A VIDEO.

Like my head's about to get cut off across the top edge of the video, the footage wasn't great due to a cloud of smoke that randomly passed as I started filming, I taped my little note card a little bit too far away for me to see without my glasses that I hate to wear and a loootta bit too far off to the side so I'm squinting off into the distance toward my left the entire time, and also I panic a few minutes in thinking I accidentally stole a book.

But I didn't, and now I have a super fluffy blanket! And that's what really matters!

You can move to Onionland where there's some built-in DoS protection with the PoW feature. Problem is: it just gives preference to the clients that supply PoW. It doesn't (at least not yet) allow services to require PoW.

Another option is to move to I2P. I've had a self-hosted Onionland web site attacked, but never an I2P web site.

Does anyone know about a web server that allows you to simply drop connections when there are too many? Yes, this doesn't stop DoS, but it does protect the server from having to provide too much processing power. Just drop the connection as soon a inetd accepts it if there are already a lot of connections.

Doing some upgrades and a thermal cleaning on a ThinkPad T470.

Great ThinkPad model. I love how it has three different physical connectors that can charge the laptop:

- Standard ThinkPad rectangular charge port
- USB C charging port
- bottom docking station charge port

This is extremely rare in laptops to have three ways to charge a laptop. Do you know of any other laptops that can do this outside the ThinkPad **70 series?

Dans l'un de mes derniers posts je vous faisais part de mon étonnement et de ma colère au sujet du criminel #BillGates reçu comme un chef d'Etat par les gouvernements occidentaux corrompus.
En effet, comment justifier qu'un type qui veut réduire la population mondiale de 10 à 15% avec ses faux #vaccins, ne soit toujours pas en prison ?
Comment comprendre que ces gouvernements collaborent avec des labos pharmaceutiques multi-condamnés pour tromperie, pour mise en danger de la vie d'autrui, pour homicides "involontaires", pour empoisonnement et autres délits ?
Il n'y a qu'une seule réponse possible. L'industrie pharmaceutique dont la puissance financière dépasse de loin l'industrie de l'armement, est l'un des plus grands corrupteurs que le monde ait connu. Si donc nos gouvernements collaborent avec cette industrie de la mort, au détriment de leurs propres peuples, c'est qu'ils sont corrompus jusqu'à l'os.

But not everyone is applauding the decision. Bill Gates, the tech mogul turned vaccine evangelist whose foundation has bankrolled Gavi from the beginning, is ringing alarm bells. In a Gates Notes blog post, he claimed: "There's never been a point in the past 25 years when more lives hung in the balance. In all likelihood, 2025 will be the first year since the turn of the century when the number of children dying will go up instead of down."

Gates and the European Union responded to the funding gap with a major fundraising push. This week, they co-hosted the "Global Summit: Health & Prosperity through Immunization" in Brussels, trying to save the alliance from financial freefall. Gavi's CEO, Sania #Nishtar, claims that the U.S. cut alone could result in an additional 1.2 million deaths over the next five years.

Despite those claims, the summit raised over $9 billion toward Gavi's $11.9 billion goal for its 2026–2030 budget. The Gates Foundation pledged $1.6 billion. The European Commission threw in €260 million. An additional $4.5 billion was committed from development finance institutions, and vaccine manufacturers chipped in with cost-cutting agreements expected to save another $200 million.
