Just like the ceasefire agreed with Lebanon back in November last year, Israel wants the ability to bomb Gaza as and when it feels the need to do so, i.e. when it feels threatened. I make an exception today since I hear your government is about to classify Palestine Action as a terrorist group. Despite them being peaceful, non-violent, and dedicated entirely to preventing the greater crime of the ongoing genocide of Gazan Palestinians.
This is obviously a gross overreaction and a completely unjustifiable act designed not to prevent domestic terrorism but to cover up British forces and UK government involvement and collaboration with the genocide in Gaza.
If we are taking suggestions for groups to ban as terrorists even though they aren't terrorists, I would like to suggest the Labour Party! The party has helped facilitate a genocide abroad, and continues to supply the perpetrators with arms and intelligence to aid their actions.
I don't expect you to take that suggestion seriously, but maybe Reform will take it seriously when they get elected in a few years and I suggest it again to them. I was ready to be disappointed by this Labour government, but I confess that the level of gut-wrenching visceral disgust I am experiencing at them surpassed all my wildest expectations. At least they might do electoral reform and nationalize the water companies.

Le bilan des « crimes du communisme » établi par l’historien français Stéphane Courtois dans son « Livre noir » sonne comme un réquisitoire. L’auteur dresse un scandaleux parallèle entre communisme et nazisme et invoque l’idée d’un tribunal de Nuremberg pour juger les responsables. Qu’importe que les chiffres cités soient manipulés, voire faux, que plusieurs coauteurs se soient dissociés de Stéphane Courtois, nombre de journalistes, sans avoir pris la peine de lire le livre, en ont fait un éloge dythirambique.
Longtemps après, les chiffres restent approximatifs et ne fournissent guère qu’un ordre de grandeur. Pour la répression de Sétif (1945), les estimations vont de 6 000 à 45 000 morts. A Madagascar (1947), il y aurait eu 80 000 victimes. En Indochine (1946-1954), les chiffres varient selon les sources de 800 000 à 2 millions de morts, et en Algérie (1954-1962) de 300 000 à 1 million. Même sans tenir compte de la Tunisie et du Maroc, et en s’abstenant d’évoquer les responsabilités françaises dans des catastrophes plus récentes, comme le génocide rwandais, cette sinistre comptabilité atteste que, si l’on rapporte le nombre de ses victimes à celui — médiocre — de sa population, la France se place dans le peloton de tête des pays massacreurs de la seconde partie du siècle.
Elle persévéra avec tant d’obstination que l’observateur pourrait en déduire que le crime était ontologiquement lié au régime politique en place. Car c’est bien de crime qu’il faut parler. La répression menée pendant deux décennies sur deux continents présente les caractéristiques du crime contre l’humanité tel que défini par le nouveau code pénal français : « Pratique massive et systématique d’exécutions sommaires, d’enlèvements de personnes suivis de leur disparition, de la torture ou d’actes inhumains (…) »
La seule organisation politique d’importance à se dresser contre cet enchaînement aussi cruel qu’imbécile fut le Parti communiste français (PCF). François Bayrou, héritier politique d’une démocratie-chrétienne impliquée plus qu’aucune autre formation dans la répression colonialiste, ne s’encombrait pas de réminiscences importunes lorsqu’il brandissait, à la Chambre, Le Livre noir du communisme vers le bord opposé de l’hémicycle. Un livre ? Des livres. Un assemblage hétéroclite auquel l’introduction et la conclusion de Stéphane Courtois, maître d’œuvre, s’emploient avec vigueur à donner sens. L’éditeur nous confie que le regretté François Furet avait accepté de rédiger la préface. Elle eût été en tout cas intelligente. Stéphane Courtois relève d’une autre pratique : son texte consacre l’irruption de la technique publicitaire dans la démarche historienne. (Aussi, appréciant à sa juste valeur « le choc des photos », déplore-t-il longuement la pauvreté iconographique de l’ouvrage.) Ses postulats atteignent sans effort à l’efficacité du slogan. Le communisme porte en lui la terreur comme la nuée l’orage. C’est inscrit depuis toujours et à jamais dans son code génético-politique.
Thomas More, auteur d’ Utopia, décapité en 1535 sous Henri VIII, n’a-t-il pas un monument à sa gloire sous les murs du Kremlin ? Plutôt que d’inscrire à l’inventaire des crimes, sans commentaire, la déportation des Allemands de la Volga, en 1941, n’eût-il pas été équitable d’indiquer que des considérations d’ordre stratégiques évidentes pouvaient lui donner au moins un début de justification à l’heure où le pays luttait pour sa survie ? Après tout, les Etats-Unis internèrent sans autre forme de procès, pendant toute la durée de la guerre, des milliers d’immigrés japonais souvent installés de très longue date et qui ne présentaient assurément pas le même danger potentiel.
Tant d’acharnement obsessionnel déconcerte. Les raisons de s’horrifier ne sont-elles pas suffisantes ? L’instrumentalisation propagandiste des victimes ne marque-t-elle pas du mépris pour leurs souffrances ?
C’est que Stéphane Courtois a fixé à sa campagne une cible ambitieuse. Sachant que les crimes nazis, et notamment la tentative d’extermination des Juifs d’Europe, s’inscrivent dans la mémoire collective comme l’abomination absolue, il veut établir une analogie entre nazisme et communisme. Avec 25 millions de victimes pour l’un et une évaluation de 100 millions pour l’autre, la preuve serait apportée que le second est quatre fois plus criminel que le premier. Certes, les victimes ne se comparent pas. Juifs et Tsiganes furent assassinés en tant que tels. Citant les discours des bolcheviks, que la rhétorique révolutionnaire tenait à l’écart de la nuance, Stéphane Courtois doit bien admettre que, s’ils vouaient à la liquidation leurs ennemis bourgeois, koulaks, etc., c’était « en tant que classe ». Il introduit donc le concept d’un « génocide de classe » qui serait l’exact équivalent du « génocide de race ». L’imposture intellectuelle sidère par son audace. Aux yeux des nazis, un Juif restait de sa conception à sa mort défini par sa judéité.
Un bourgeois dépouillé de ses biens sort de la bourgeoisie. La Révolution française a voulu, et dans une certaine mesure accompli, la liquidation de l’aristocratie en tant que classe, ou caste. Mais les « ci-devant » dépossédés de leurs titres et privilèges n’étaient pas automatiquement promis à l’échafaud, où ils furent moins nombreux à monter que les ouvriers ou les paysans. Stéphane Courtois écrit : « La mort de faim d’un enfant de koulak ukrainien délibérément acculé à la famine par le régime stalinien » vaut« la mort de faim d’un enfant juif du ghetto de Varsovie acculé à la famine par le régime nazi. » La comparaison ne vaut rien car l’enfant ukrainien survivant à une famine circonstancielle avait une vie devant lui, alors que l’enfant juif rescapé de la faim n’avait pour avenir que la chambre à gaz de Treblinka.
Dans son acharnement à tordre les faits, Stéphane Courtois va jusqu’à enrôler le responsable SS Rudolf Hess, selon lequel sa hiérarchie lui aurait fait parvenir une documentation pédagogique sur les camps soviétiques. Mais Rudolf Hess allait créer un camp sans précédent, ni équivalent — Auschwitz — qu’aucun être sensé se songerait à comparer aux pires établissements du Goulag. Quoi qu’ils en aient, Stéphane Courtois et ses semblables buteront toujours sur l’irréductible singularité de la Shoah. Le temps et l’espace annulés
Avec Nicolas Werth, qui consacre plus de deux cent cinquante pages — un livre dans le livre — aux « violences, répressions, terreurs en Union soviétique », nous quittons une littérature évoquant la pire agit-prop des années 30 et réintégrons avec soulagement l’histoire. Mais pourquoi faut-il que ce travail remarquable paraisse sous un si douteux pavillon ? Pourquoi surtout s’être fourvoyé dans un projet à ce point réducteur ? Le maître d’œuvre, Stéphane Courtois, qui affectionne le spectaculaire, nous livre son pronostic à propos de Staline : « Sans doute émergera-t-il, aux yeux de l’Histoire, comme le plus grand homme politique du XXe siècle, réussissant à hisser la petite Union soviétique de 1922 au rang de superpuissance mondiale. »
Le moins qu’on puisse dire est que la contribution de Nicolas Werth ne livre pas la clé d’une incontestable ascension. Que la société soviétique ait été cette société violentée et martyrisée qu’il décrit avec minutie, personne n’en doute. Mais elle ne fut pas que cela, car ni le travail forcé au Goulag, d’un rendement économique plus que médiocre, ni la coercition exercée sur les esprits ne peuvent rendre compte d’une dynamique qui transforma effectivement le pays. Limiter l’histoire de l’URSS à celle de la terreur est aussi réducteur, toutes proportions gardées, qu’une histoire de la IV e République qui ne traiterait que de ses turpitudes coloniales en négligeant le fait que ce malheureux régime sut par ailleurs ragaillardir et lancer sur la voie de la prospérité une France épuisée par la guerre et l’occupation.
Bien loin de donner à comprendre le passé, un tel choix l’opacifie et fait même du présent une énigme. La frivolité aveugle des Occidentaux, les intellectuels au premier rang, est sévèrement stigmatisée dans le livre, Stéphane Courtois allant jusqu’à s’étonner étrangement du fait que, de nos jours, « des groupes ouvertement révolutionnaires sont actifs, et s’expriment en toute légalité (souligné par nous), traitant par le mépris la moindre réflexion critique sur les crimes de leurs prédécesseurs (…) ».
A l’Est, les populations concernées ont à coup sûr plus de lucidité et gardent mémoire du passé. Si le régime qu’elles ont subi se réduisait à une lugubre succession de répressions sanglantes, comment comprendre que l’idée communiste conserve parmi elles tant d’adeptes ? Comment expliquer que la Pologne, la « nation-ennemi » dont Andrzej Paczkowski nous rappelle les très rudes épreuves, ait, une poignée d’années après l’implosion du bloc soviétique, élu le plus démocratiquement du monde un président et une majorité parlementaire néocommunistes ?
Que dire enfin d’un esprit de système qui annule le temps et l’espace ? Pour le maître d’œuvre, l’idéologie communiste doit être toujours et partout la responsable unique d’une terreur monotone. Rétif aux amalgames sommaires, Jean-Louis Margolin indique l’importance de la tradition confucéenne dans les pays communistes d’Asie, Cambodge excepté, et souligne son rôle spécifique dans leur histoire récente, y compris dans ses aspects les plus tragiques. Pascal Fontaine aurait pu, s’agissant de Cuba, rappeler la tradition régionale du caudillisme que François Maspero a parfaitement mise en lumière à propos de Fidel Castro. Par quelle aberration peut-on enfin englober dans la même condamnation des sandinistes nicaraguayens qui remirent démocratiquement en jeu leur pouvoir et les fous furieux du Sentier lumineux ?
Un grand absent : l’adversaire. Chaque expérience communiste est décrite comme si elle se déroulait en vase clos, coupée du monde extérieur. Pourquoi Nicolas Werth s’abstient-il d’évoquer l’interventionnisme étranger acharné à juguler la jeune révolution bolchevique ? S’il est un événement central dans l’histoire de Cuba, c’est bien la tentative de débarquement en 1961 d’une force d’invasion inspirée et armée par la plus puissante nation du monde. Elle rend compte, par exemple, du quadrillage de l’île par les comités de défense de la révolution (CDR). Mais l’épisode majeur de la baie des Cochons n’est mentionné que pour nous apprendre que Castro s’en servit comme « prétexte » pour interdire… la revue La Quincena !
La volonté américaine d’en finir à tout prix avec l’expérience sandiniste, y compris en bloquant les ports par des champs de mines, n’est pas une seule fois évoquée. On sait pourtant combien le complexe d’encerclement, l’intervention étrangère et le blocus offrent un terreau fertile à la paranoïa répressive. Leur évacuation permet sans doute aux auteurs de décrire des forces du mal révélant leur essence intrinsèquement perverse face à un monde s’astreignant strictement au rôle du spectateur horrifié ou passif. Mais l’escamotage annule une dialectique qui forme la trame même de l’histoire et sans laquelle elle devient cette « histoire contée par un idiot, pleine de bruit et de fureur, et qui ne signifie rien ».
Autre absent : le facteur humain. Faut-il redire après tant d’autres que les militants communistes adhéraient à un projet qui se voulait universel et libérateur ? Que cet idéal ait été dévoyé ne retire rien à leurs motivations. Elles suffiraient à elles seules à les différencier de leurs adversaires nazis dont le programme affiché consistait à soumettre à une « race » déclarée supérieure des peuples tenus pour inférieurs et condamnés à l’asservissement quand ils n’étaient pas voués à l’extermination. Un nazisme acceptable pour l’humanité n’est pas concevable : il y a contradiction dans les termes.
Même le bilan terrifiant des victimes accumulées par la perversion de l’idéal communiste ne parvient pas à abolir l’espoir dont il fut porteur à travers le monde. Sans doute l’histoire de l’Internationale communiste possède-t-elle ses chapitres noirs, mais la réduire au schéma expéditif qu’en donnent Stéphane Courtois et Jean-Louis Panné ressortit à la caricature. Il y a plus de vérité sur les « commis-voyageurs de la révolution » chez Malraux, Koestler ou même Jan Valtin que dans ces pages qui voudraient les enfermer dans le rôle de machines à tuer, mais ne les empêcheront pas de voyager encore longtemps dans l’imaginaire des hommes.
La sanction historique et définitive du nazisme, c’est sa défaite : les prétendus surhommes ont été désarmés et renvoyés dans leurs foyers. L’honneur et l’avenir du communisme, ce sont des militants à l’image d’un Artur London qui, après avoir voué sa vie à une cause généreuse, souffert torture et déportation du fait de l’ennemi, connut la tragédie d’être martyrisé par ceux qu’il croyait les siens, rompu par une mécanique impitoyable, et en ressortit pourtant fidèle à l’idéal de sa jeunesse. Quant au Livre noir du capitalisme, il s’écrit tous les jours sous nos yeux et dans nos vies. Populations courbées sous la dictature des marchés financiers ; chômage ravageur ; guerres tribales déclenchées avec cynisme pour prendre le contrôle, par-delà les fantoches locaux, des richesses du sous-sol ; diktats économiques imposés par les institutions internationales et qui, en réduisant drastiquement les dépenses publiques consacrées à la santé, font chuter l’espérance de vie ; innombrables migrants condamnés à l’exil pour échapper à une condition désespérée… Et si chaque système doit se juger au nombre de ses victimes innocentes, de quel poids pèseront les 40 000 enfants qui, selon l’Unicef, meurent chaque jour de malnutrition dans le tiers-monde ?
Le malheur des hommes mérite mieux qu’un livre tapageur. L’espérance d’y remédier exige davantage qu’une opération de propagande.

Hamas shouldn't take the deal. Hamas shouldn't appear at the table. The proposal offered is fundamentally duplicitous, and predominantly a face saving exercise for Israel by making them appear magnanimous. Why now would Israel and the U.S. negotiate with terrorists? Why, after the total eradication of infrastructure, including schools, universities and health services would an offer be made? What is fundamentally going to change? Well you are hosting videos that are on lbry but its done automaticly, its not something that you have to do manyaly. You just enter the desktop aplikacion and watch videos. And rest is done on itsown. Videos that you watched you are now hosting for others to watch and thats it. You just set how much memory you want to allow app to use, so it doesnt fill up your drive and thats it.
And if you are content creator you host your videos just at first so couple of people can see them, and after that people are watching and hosting your videos vithout you doing anything.
