Gaza’s Government Media Office announced on 28 June that at least 66 children have died from starvation since Israel’s siege of Gaza began, blaming the deaths on Tel Aviv’s blockade, crossing closures, and the ban on baby formula.

The statement urged immediate intervention from international, Arab, and Islamic institutions to open the crossings and allow food and medicine into Gaza “before it is too late.”

Because where does the person's loyalty last if the USA and that other nation state come to a disagreement, or worse to war? Okay, I've mentioned this a few times, but let's talk about The Orange Alternative. It's Poland in the 80's and an art history student noticed that when someone would paint an anti-authoritarian message, it would very quickly get painted over by the government. He decided to paint a dwarf with an orange hat any time he'd see the white paint that covered these messages. Soon other people were doing the same. They embraced this kind of absurdism, what the government was doing was ridiculous, so they leaned into it. The paintings of dwarves soon became organized street parties. They would all wear orange pointy hats and walk through the streets with banners, chanting Dwarf Dwarf Dwarf! They would pool what little extra funds they had together and buy things that people needed like toliet paper and tampons, and would have street fairs with food and dancing, and hand them out. At Christmas, they would dress as Santas, and do the same. The police were flummoxed by what to do, if they arrested people for wearing hats and giving out tampons, they looked foolish and would be embarrassed, not sure what to do with these surreal forms of protest.

There is so much more to this, definitely read up on it, but it was an effective form of protest, creating community, spreading joy and absurdism, because authoritarian governments are absurd. Protests are going to look like a lot of different things, and this is just one of them.

In Russia, they have created Little Picketers, tiny rough clay figures holding banners, that they press into people's hands to remind them, that they aren't alone.

So, don't believe the propaganda, you aren't alone in caring, you aren't alone in wanting a different world, put on your goofiest hat, and let people know they aren't alone either.

Da geschah und geschieht ein Zivilisationsbruch - nachvollziehbar für alle die nicht absichtlich die Augen davor verschließen.

One reason I am angry at Jeffries, Booker, Gillibrand, etc. is they are not articulating a VISION for what to do, let alone hardcore strategies to block trump (natiomal strike, anyone?) But if they want to, they should get out in front, co-sponsore and PUSH MEDICARE-FOR-ALL now as we are going to lose all health care now. I may not get Medicare. People I know will not get meds and help they need: suffering and death wave is coming.

In the case of a general strike, you need medical assistance you need legal fund assistance. It the support network is what allows the strike to persist like it needs to.

So for a general strike, we have to be seeing or knowing about the construction of the support networks and the preparation underway.

Many in the US got a propaganda message from the Social Security Administration last night. It says, "The bill ensures that nearly 90% of Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits, providing meaningful and immediate relief to seniors who have spent a lifetime contributing to our nation's economy." That sounds great, but I haven't seen any fact-checking on this email, and it seems that there will be zero benefit for the majority.
From Yahoo finance: The new temporary tax break — $6,000 for individuals and $12,000 for couples — is for tax filers age 65 and older. It starts phasing out for those who earn over $75,000 ($150,000 for couples). “Low-income seniors won’t benefit at all, and nor will very high- income seniors,” Marc Goldwein, senior policy director for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a nonpartisan group that advocates for fiscal responsibility, told Yahoo Finance. “The biggest beneficiaries are upper-middle-class seniors with significant wealth, who have a lot of discretion over how much income to realize in a given year,” he said. To be clear, this provision does not eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits as Trump promised in the campaign. It is a temporary income tax deduction, not a cut in the Social Security tax. The new deduction could also accelerate Social Security and Medicare insolvency by a year, to 2032, per an analysis from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
