even though there's no direct evidence that trump is compromised by the epstein blackmail scheme, the behavior at this point is making it look a lot more likely. keep in mind the island wasn't the only place that stuff was going on- epstein had a large building in new york so those people wouldn't have appeared on the flight logs. there could be far more compromised individuals (including trump) than just people who flew to the island

before i was skeptical but now i'm really thinking trump is more than just an israel loving zionist. the beahivor is more like someone being blackmailed than just someone with a religious bias or having accepted campaign donations

trump is either directly implicated, or they threatened his family, or he just has no logical consistency in his policy positions and is willing to do 180 degree flips for no reason- but i think generally they're a reason we keep seeing politicians change their tune regarding middle east policy and israel-related matters, after they get in office, which is some combination of bribery, blackmail, and extortion.

I’ve heard him admit some quirks / shortsightedness, but I think he’d repeat some unless the markup could remain natural to writers. The conventions grew from text email and newsgroups, where they were never intended to be read as formatted html.

The other was to make it look as little like “markup” as possible, and therefore, intuitive (the basic emphasis, bullets and headers are easily understood – even if reference links and tables are harder to write/dev than to read).

I don’t know exactly what the engineering behind it looks like, but it seems that the primary innovation is to create a “Inner monologue” where a variety of agentic “voices” discuss the question you asked from multiple points of view, figure out what to google, and then summarize those results then verify the answer.

You can see this process working if you hit the “thoughts” button as it happens.

Pretty cool, possibly more than a parlor trick.

Polish far-right leader declares Auschwitz gas chambers to be "fake"
Polish prosecutors have launched an investigation into far-right leader Grzegorz Braun after he declared the gas chambers at Auschwitz to be “fake” and said it is a “fact” that Jews have committed ritual slaughter of Christians. Denial of Nazi crimes is an offence in Poland that carries a jail sentence of up to three years.

Braun, who finished fourth in the recent presidential elections with 6.3% of the vote, made his remarks during an interview today with radio station WNET. The veteran far-right politician, who is a member of the European Parliament, has a long history of hateful and conspiratorial rhetoric regarding Jews and other minorities.

During the interview, Braun referred to what he claimed are the “lies of the Talmud, the Haggadah [two Jewish religious texts], and the Holocaust”. He said that Jewish organisations “condemn those who tell the truth that ritual murder is a fact and Auschwitz with its gas chambers is a lie”.

A longstanding antisemitic canard is that Jews murder Christians, in particular children, and use their blood for religious rituals. Meanwhile, many modern antisemites deny the fact that gas chambers were used at Auschwitz and other German-Nazi camps to murder Jews during the Holocaust.

After the interviewer contested Braun’s remarks, he reiterated them, saying that the Auschwitz Museum provides a “pseudo-historical account” about what happened at the camp and blocks research into the gas chambers. He also cited a book by an Israeli historian that he says proves Jews carried out ritual murder.

That led the interviewer to immediately cut short the broadcast, saying that there “are limits to political cynicism and sensationalism when it comes to several million victims and their memory”.

Subsequently, Anna-Maria Żukowska, head of the parliamentary caucus of The Left (Lewica), one of the groups that make up Poland’s ruling coalition, announced that she was filing a complaint to prosecutors regarding Braun’s remarks.

She accused him of violating article 55 of Poland’s law on the Institute of National Remembrance, which criminalises public denial of Nazi and communist crimes. Those found guilty can be punished by up to three years in prison.

Late on Thursday afternoon, the district prosecutor’s office in Warsaw announced that it had initiated an investigation into whether Braun had committed the offence of denying Nazi crimes.

Meanwhile, Piotr Cywiński, the director of the Auschwitz Museum, which is a Polish state institution, issued a statement condemning Braun’s “scandalous” comments, which he said were not only a violation of the law but also “an insult to the memory of the victims of the camp”.

“Grzegorz Braun’s words are not a ‘political provocation’, but a conscious lie and an act of ideological, antisemitic hatred,” said Cywiński. “They cannot remain without a decisive response from the state and all decent people – for whom the memory of Auschwitz is of particular importance.”

The museum director noted that, while it was primarily Jews who were victims of the gas chambers of Auschwitz, ethnic Poles, Soviet prisoners of war, and Roma were also murdered in them.

At least 1.3 million prisoners were transported to Auschwitz during the war, with at least 1.1 million of them killed at the camp. Around one million of those victims were Jews, most of whom were murdered in gas chambers immediately after their arrival. The second largest group of victims were ethnic Poles.

Cywiński said that the museum would itself file a notification to prosecutors regarding Braun’s remarks. He also appealed to Polish media to stop giving space to Braun, who “has repeatedly shown that he cannot function in the public space without vandalism, lies, hate speech and racism”.

Last week, Braun was presented by prosecutors with seven sets of charges relating to four incidents, including his attack on a Jewish religious celebration in parliament two years ago.

He is also being investigated over a series of incidents during the recent presidential election campaign, including when he vandalised an LGBT+ exhibition, made antisemitic remarks during a televised debate, and removed a Ukrainian flag from a public building.

Il est intéressant de créer de l'évaporation, c'est le principe du frigo sauf que le frigo crée du froid enfermé pour restituer la chaleur par son… radiateur. En créant des glaçons pour se rafraîchir, on crée de la chaleur dans la pièce, c'est ballot. Alors, supposons qu'on a des voiles devant les fenêtres, ben l'idéal c'est de les mouiller par vaporisation. On n'est d'ailleurs pas obligé de se limiter aux fenêtres, on peut mettre des linges mouillés un peut partout, de préférence au plus près du sol, car la vapeur d'eau froide va se réchauffer pour monter, elle va créer une turbulence, une brise infime mais efficace ; l'air frais va progressivement monter pour refroidir l'air chaud du dessus. On peut même dormir sous un drap humide, on se doute bien que c'est froid. Et c'est froid pourquoi ? Car l'eau s'évapore, comme le gaz dans les parois d'un frigo. Mais dans un frigo, c'est un circuit fermé, le moteur (qui chauffe) va recompresser le gaz en liquide ou le circuit exploserait. L'eau est composée de molécules serrées qui en s'évaporant vont prendre plus de place jusqu'à chasser les molécules d'air chaud, idéalement vers l'extérieur, comme un frigo par son radiateur.
Notre corps aussi est un frigo, en buvant de l'eau, une certaine quantité va s'évaporer par notre peau. Lorsqu'on a trop chaud, il faut s'hydrater.
Pour la circulation d'air, il vaut mieux ouvrir petit face au vent (à l'entrée) et ouvrir en grand à la sortie. Il suffit de tester en soufflant dans sa main : en fermant les lèvres comme pour souffler sur la soupe, la sensation sur la main est froide, tandis que si la bouche est grande ouverte, c'est chaud. Et comme la chaleur monte, il faut faire entrer l'air frais par le bas, de sorte que l'air chaud soit chassé par le haut.
On peut combiner les deux techniques d'évaporation ventilation en ouvrant légèrement la porte d'une cave humide si on ne l'a pas trop isolée, l'air humide va monter et sa vapeur d'eau en expansion va chasser l'air chaud par le haut. Pour une meilleure circulation de l'air, on ne bloquera pas l'entrée d'air par les soupirails et on ouvrira les fenêtres à l'étage. Un peu le principe du puit provençal.
Et il y a moyen de réfléchir encore. Par exemple à mettre derrière les vitres exposées au soleil des couvertures de survie, réfléchissantes. Il y a moyen d'aller très loin dans ce type d'idées. Par exemple un ventilateur crée un courant d'air frais, en irradiant de la chaleur par son moteur. Toute énergie consommée produit de la chaleur : une centrale nucléaire produit de l'électricité et de la chaleur, l'idéal est donc d'oublier l'énergie en été pour n'utiliser que la physique. Bon, pas tout à fait, car l'énergie c'est de la physique. Et il y a de bonnes et de mauvaises idées. Je voyais un meme où quelqu'un dormait devant son frigo ouvert. C'est bien à l'avant, mais à l'arrière du frigo c'est de la chaleur qui est produite. Donc ça ne sert à rien, sauf à augmenter sa facture énergétique et dans l'absolu à augmenter la chaleur globale par consommation énergétique. C'est se tirer une balle dans le pied. Et à l'échelle de la planète, toute énergie fossile ou minérale (comme l'uranium) consommée le sera finalement pour réchauffer l'atmosphère et créer des turbulences insoutenables : vents, pluies, sécheresses.
Ce qui est efficace, c'est la transformation d'un liquide en phase gazeuse, c'est la ventilation et l'isolation, mais en gardant à l'esprit que c'est toujours une question de vases communicants. Rien se crée, tout se transforme. Et c'est une mauvaise idée que d'utiliser un corps solide comme énergie, car elle sera en expansion de manière gazeuse à un moment ou un autre. Un caillou de charbon ou d'uranium consommé va augmenter la chaleur globale selon son potentiel énergétique. Et toujours à augmenter l'effet de serre, en se transformant en gaz divers. C'est absolu.

Στην εκδήλωση θα συμμετέχει και μέλος της ερευνητικής ομάδας, ο κος Φώτης Ψαρρός, Υποψήφιος Διδάκτορας στο Τμήμα Ωκεανογραφίας και Θαλάσσιων Βιοεπιστημών, Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου.

Στο Β μέρος θα αναφερθούμε σε άλλους περιβαλλοντικούς αγώνες στην Λέσβο και το Βόρειο Αιγαίο. Τοποθέτηση θα κάνει επίσης η κα Ερμιόνη Φρεζούλη, μέλος του Κοινωνικού χώρου Αντίβαρο από την Χίο σχετικά με τον τοπικό αγώνα ενάντια στην εξόρυξη αντιμόνιου που λαμβάνει χώρα στην γειτονική Χίο.

Do you have good engineers yet in America?
I was listening to a compilation of old top gear episodes where they talk about American cars.
Only slightly interested in cars at all but the 3 guys are good.

I notice a theme off American cars having shit handling around corners and bends. Fair enough. You haven’t got any.

But then also the theme of massive big motors, and then you get less horsepower than a small European city car. 6L V8 motor and it makes like 180 horsepower.
