@millihertz There is certainly such a case to be made -- for most of its later history, Commodore was synonymous with mismanagement. Fractic may well be just as bad, but it's a bit early to say. So far, they've made sane, reasonable decisions.
@millihertz Certainly, this new Commodore is not the same exact company as the one from my youth -- but I think a reasonable case can be made for it to be the de facto inheritor of the legacy, and should be permitted time and space to prove whether or not it is worthy of the name.

@millihertz They've pre-sold almost 3,000 units of the new C64 Ultimate so far. Very not bad. If they can keep the thing in production (a fair sized "if") and it keeps selling (an even bigger "if") then we might see a bit of resurgence in gamedev for the platform, as the majority of users will be on the Ultimate or an equivalent, and that's a lot more power for games to play with.

On the other hand, solar-punk envisions society after the work is done with comfortable citizens enjoying green tech built by unseen hands. The aesthetic whispers: "Look what grew while no one was laboring.
Socialist realism celebrates the struggle; solar-punk erases it.
Most of its depictions that I've seen also have hardly any people in them! It's something primitivist, or post-apocalyptic, and hardly optimistic, despite the quaint aesthetics.
@carbonara show me an example of solar-punk aesthetic where any actual building happens, it's always just people living comfortably off stuff somebody else built. It's basically the whole Nordic "socialist" model built on exploitation of the Global South where actual production happens.
Meanwhile, socialist realism already covers the aspects of community building and working together. Collective labour is literally what it celebrates.

Despite being really careful I managed to get some Cow Parsley sap on my hand yesterday gardening. I have a blister today and it felt like a burn. I ended up reading up on it and yep the furanocoumarins in Cow Parsley cause skin to not be UV resistant so on a very sunny day you can get very serious burns. Known as phytophotodermatitis. Mine is very tiny and will heal but be warned.. searching shows some pretty awful major burns and scarring can occur!
