I use keepass too, But i prefer proton-pass-bin because it syncs automatically with all my devices and it does passwords for apps too automatically which is nice on android

My super critical passwords and shit are always hosted on my own servers.

I used to use passbolt self hosted but their phone pairing using QR codes got fucked and it locked me out so i stopped using that.

There also is no official package for proton-pass on gentoo so i figured why not use it when im maintaining it on there

Proton is really nice, i switched to all their services to "de google" and because i wanted something not based in the US

And their apps are really nice, the mail app is straightforward, i'd say better than gmail UI and Function.

Calendar does what it does works quite good.
Password manager, Love it, its functional, fast

And all the apps share the same UI so thats really cool too.

I use protonVPN only for my phone really and my work laptop through uniquiti(I know their US hehe)

Proton is trustworthy, but I got burnt too many times, now I'm seeking more generic solutions — so I can easily migrate elsewhere or self-host.
I have Proton Unlimited, but I only use VPN and mail. Their VPN software is okay, but on my home network I prefer having a dedicated ARM box that is always connected with OpenVPN, then I route all web traffic through Squid running on this machine. I'm yet to figure out how to use their Stealth protocol which is basically Wireguard over TLS without their software, I've built their fork of wireguard-go which they use in their Android app, but I'm yet to figure out how to invoke it so it uses TLS and not the default UDP for transport.

I do use their mail app on Android — should probably switch to bridge + K9 mail, but I'm a lazy ass 😅
BTW I think Bridge has a wrapper which checks for updates, but I've built a binary myself, put it in ~/go/bin and never bothered updating — that is what I use on my laptops. And for scripts I have hydroxide hosted on the same ARM machine, it's an "unofficial" bridge: github.com/emersion/hydroxide
Official one doesn't support 32-bit ARM machines, I've tried porting it, but ran into numerous difficulties and hydroxide mostly works as expected.

And for calendars/tasks/address books I've switched to self-hosting Radicale: radicale.org/
It's normal CardDAV/CalDAV server so you can use it with any compatible software and it works nicely on Android phone with DAVx⁵

I really want to like Proton Pass, but I never got comfortable with password managers — well, I do use the one built into Firefox for disposable passwords and I have pass on a special machine for more sensitive ones. On the one hand Pass looks like a more streamlined solution, but on the other… why bother? 😁

All that said, Proton is still very cool, I wish them all the best in their mission of making switching away from Google easy for the less tech-savvy folk.

radicale just works and just works well. i was concerned id have to rely on service. but its deployed on local system, tls terminated behind proxy. attached to wireguard so can reach it anywhere i am even though i dont travel much.

hydroxide works. but if you don't keep it updated sometimes things stop working. not a big deal but can be annoying

Radicale's awesome — easy to set up, easy to back up and otherwise hassle-free. Their guide even has a note on how to configure git hook to put everything under version control, which comes in handy when some weird software decides to cull fields from vCards in the address book all of a sudden — saved my ass a few times.
And DAVx⁵ makes it very easy to set up on a phone — both projects are well worth being donated to!

This used to be the case, but I think it's been a couple of years since I had to update the binary, looks like now API got stabilised. Well, in any case, AFAIK Simon (emersion) is no longer interested in supporting the IMAP part so switching to official bridge might still be a wise idea.
I hate proton for closing the VPN API endpoint for unauthenticated users, I had my own tiny tool to retrieve server load info, which I used for switching to the least loaded server from a predefined list of exit countries in a cron job. Now I have to figure out a way to authenticate — maybe not a bad thing, my last tool was in Go, time to apply my skills and re-implement it in Rust 😄
