Continued to seize power and impose his will by threat of violence over half of the population. He'd just be a tyrant for longer. I don't think he'd have had enough time to do any further land conquest. He might have spent his time on infrastructure.
He may have pulled a Palpatine and kept himself ruling throughout his old age and disassembled the Congress, threatened judges, etc.
If he did leave the office, he may have inserted himself into an ambassador role like Ben Franklin.

If you’re serious about democracy, let’s take away the power of your unelected commissioners to legislate and give the power to the EU Parliament – the only parliament in the world that cannot legislate. Maybe we’ll see what democracy can be in the EU once we stop having a toy parliament.
