After 41 years behind bars, Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, the longest-held political prisoner and a steadfast symbol of anti-imperialist resistance, is finally set to walk free.
The French judiciary has approved on July 17 his release, scheduled for July 25, bringing an end to one of the most politically charged detention cases in modern French history.
Abdallah's lawyer confirmed that political interference, particularly from the US, had delayed the legal proceedings that should have led to his release much earlier

For instance, while Abdallah's prison sentence ended in 1999 and he was granted a parole ruling in 2003, over 10 decisions for his release were rejected due to US interference
