The director of the Palestinian NGOs Network, Amjad Shawa, described the reports of starving people arriving at Gaza hospitals as evidence of the failure of the so-called American aid centers (GHF) to meet humanitarian needs while criticizing it for serving Israel’s "political-military agenda" calling the centers a "mechanism for killing".

The "anti-gluttony door" is found within the Alcobaça Monastery in Portugal. The door was designed to be so narrow (around 12.5 inches wide) that monks who had gained too much weight due to overeating would be unable to pass through it to access the kitchen for food.

The story goes back to the middle ages, where this door stood a doorway that offered no forgiveness for excess. It did not speak, nor did it judge—it simply measured: two meters tall and only 32cm wide. Known as the “fat friar’s door,” it was situated between the kitchen and the dining hall, silently enforcing the discipline that a monk didn't eat if he couldn’t fit through it.

my curiosity about Lisp dialects finally got the better of me (for the second time! over a decade ago young kas bounced off of Common Lisp) and I’m currently reading Brave Clojure

so far it feels like I’ve entered an alternate timeline where some language other than C got to define what modern syntax should look like, and it’s pretty disorienting. but I bet I can get used to that part in time, and I actually think all the parenthesis look pretty cool
