i don't know what time machine does but rdiff-backup.net/ uses rsync but stores an incremental backup each time it runs, so you can run a command and get any previous vetsion of a file or directory. You can also delete backups more than x backups ago, older than x age, etc. Maybe that would suit you as it runs on windows (I only ever used it on openbsd and linux, I never had any problem with it, unlike rsync itself which is quite bug ridden, rdiff-backup somehow sidesteps the bugs)

My wife noticed that her Windows box wasn't suspending itself anymore recently, and she was relying on it for the power savings. I looked into it and discovered it was Steam's fault. The store page often features animations/videos and those were using WakeLocks [1] to keep the screen on (and the machine running even when it's idling). I suggest switching Steam's start up location to your library rather than the store page to avoid this annoying issue.

Quickemu thing is a simple program that uses Qemu to automatically create vms for a bunch of operating systems, whether that's macOS, Linux or Windows.

So, if you went for the GUI, it's all extremely simple: you launch QuickGUI after installing it. The app might take a while to display anything inside the window, but once it does, you can click on "Create new machines".

You then get to pick the directory where you want to set things up, and the operating system you want to install. Once the download is done, click "dismiss", and then the little "X" in the top left to close the downloader part of the app. You can then click "manage existing machines", and click the little "play" button next to your macOS VM, and you're good to go, you should land in the setup for macOS.

If you don't want to use a GUI, you can run quickemu using the command line.

quickemu --vm macos-monterey.conf

Inside macOS, open disk utility, and select the hard drive that was created for you, it should be about 100 gigs. Click the erase button in the top right corner, and rename the disk.

Confirm, and then close Disk utility. Click "reinstall mac os monterey", and proceed to select your recently erased hard drive, and to accept the licensing terms.

The install will then run, it takes a long while. On my own computer, it took about 1h to complete, so be patient. Once the install is done, you should be able to reboot into a macOS session.

To change the configuration of the VM, you have a text file, that is stored in the directory you picked at install, in my case, it's in my home folder. It should be called macos-monterey.conf.

By default, you'll only use 2 CPU cores, I changed that to 4, as my system can handle that without any problem. Just change the number after the cpu_cores parameter.

If you want to give the VM more RAM, add the following line:
ram="16G"

You'll also want to enable TRIM: open the terminal app from macOS

sudo trimforce enable

If you want to pass a CD ROM as an ISO to the VM, add this to the config file of the VM:

fixed_iso="/path/to/image.iso"

Now, of course, it's a VM, so there are limitations. First, 3D acceleration won't be good here.

If you can't login to any icloud services or the mac App Store, you'll also have to run a little command.
To solve that, you can open the macOS system preferences, then go to network, and delete all the network devices.

Then you'll need to open the macOS terminal app, and type the following command line:

sudo rm /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist

Le matin du 18 juillet, des militant.e.s ont ciblé un succursale de la Scotianbank à "Outremont" pour exiger de la Scotiabank de désinvestir d'Elbit Systems, le plus grand fabriquant d'armement d'Israël.

Des drones Hermes 450 et 900 utilisés pour surveiller et exterminer le peuple palestinien depuis le ciel aux bombes et obus d'artillerie polyvalents conçus pour tuer autant de Palestinien.ne.s que possible au sol, Elbit (et donc Scotiabank) tire d'énormes profits de l'occupation, de l'apartheid et du génocide sioniste du peuple palestinien.

Alors que la Scotiabank était censé désinvestir de plus de 500 millions de dollars US, elle s'est limité à un désinvestissement d'actions d'une valeur de 111 millions de dollars US uniquement, en plus de reprendre discrètement ses investissement quelques mois plus tard. Aujourd'hui, elle détient 2,5 % des actions en circulation d'Elbit Systems, la plaçant dans le top 5 des actionnaires d'Elbit.

Les actions directes collectives sont nécessaires pour rompre le statut quo, la production d'armement et mettre fin à la complicité canadienne dans le génocide, l'appartheid et la violence coloniale. Scotiabank: Lâche Elbit! Désinvestit du reste! Let a thousand Palestine Actions bloom!

També uns pocs centenars es manifesten de tant en tant per dir que no estan d'acord amb l'aniquilació total dels palestins.

U.S. Mercenaries in the Genocide

7,000 U.S. citizens have either signed up or returned to Israel to fight with the IDF since Oct 7, 2023, with an estimated 23,000 U.S. citizens currently serving in the IDF.

This, as Netanyahu faces shortages of domestic soldiers, with 100,000 Israelis refusing to serve. Meanwhile, at least 20 U.S. charities have raised $26 million since 2020 to recruit "lone soldiers" to fight for Israel. They wine and dine them with celebrities like Ben Shapiro, and New York mayor Eric Adams.

Most Lone Soldiers are non-Israeli Jews recruited specifically to fight in the IDF, or Jews who made Aliyah (exercised their "right of return") and then joined the IDF.
