It’s as if the smell of burnt plastic from a dollar store has permeated the world. Things are worse: chipboard furniture, T-shirts unrecognizable after a second wash, packaged foods with more preservatives than ingredients. Airplane seats turned into backrests. Automatic restroom lights that turn off at a whim. But also newspaper articles shamelessly written with ChatGPT and its algorithmic prose. Nothing is made to be loved. Only to be bought.
In a study titled The Concept and Measurement of Product Quality (1976), researcher E. Scott Maynes observed that quality is an inherently subjective concept, as it depends on the preferences of each consumer. Following his reasoning, it cannot be stated in absolute terms that an iPhone 15 is of “better quality” than a 2003 Nokia. For some consumers — although we know there won’t be many — the Nokia’s extreme durability may be more valuable than the iPhone’s technological innovations. Things aren’t worse, they just seem worse to us. But why?
“There is a pessimism that permeates a large part of the population, making everything seem inferior to us,” explains Javier Carbonell, deputy director of Future Policy Lab, a think tank focused on designing public policies to combat economic inequalities, over the phone. “This climate affects the judgments we make about the policies implemented and also the products and goods we consume.” According to the expert, the main factor driving this criticism is that the great promise of capitalism — if you work, you can have a decent life, buy a house, and go on vacation — is no longer being fulfilled; the social elevator has broken down. “Added to this is the impact of social media, which shows lives unattainable for most people,” he adds.
According to Carbonell, coordinator of the book La desigualdad en España (Inequality in Spain) (2024), the “culture of austerity” that emerged after the Great Recession (2008–2014) has been replaced by a “culture of efficiency,” embodied by Elon Musk, who champions a model aimed at minimizing costs. He first applied it at X (formerly Twitter) — where he laid off more than 75% of the workforce — and later, in the U.S. government.
He’s not alone: Mark Zuckerberg dubbed 2023 the “Year of Efficiency” and carried out massive layoffs at Meta. Amazon, like many other companies, has been gradually replacing human workers with robots and automated systems — to the point that in some of its warehouses, there’s no need to even turn on the lights.
When it comes to public services, the situation is different. Neither the pessimistic climate nor the supposed culture of efficiency alone explain why, between 2017 and 2022, the number of people with private insurance grew by 4% per year. According to the report The Healthcare System: Current Situation and Future Prospects, published in 2024, the main reason why Spaniards are turning away from the public healthcare system is the endless waiting lists.
Carbonell argues that, in absolute terms, healthcare services may not be worse than they were a few years ago. “The big problem is that they haven’t adapted to the pace of social change. They haven’t evolved enough to serve the entire elderly population, whose demographic size is increasing every year,” he argues.

There’s one conclusion that comes up repeatedly throughout this report: the perception that everything is of lower quality is more pronounced among older people. The reasons are varied. One is that attributes like durability — which used to be a major factor in how people judged a product’s quality — have lost relevance.
Psychologist Albert Vinyals, author of El consumidor tarado (The Disordered Consumer) (2019), recalls that years ago, the first thing car ads highlighted was their longevity. “Now we don’t even consider it,” he notes over the phone. “My grandmother, when she went to buy clothes, looked at the type of fabric they were made of. Now, no one knows what their pants are made of. Why would they? In a year, we’ll stop wearing them because they’ll no longer be fashionable.”
The textile industry perfectly illustrates this transformation in consumption patterns. As Marta D. Riezu, author of La moda justa (Fair Fashion) (2021), points out: “We consume clothing as if it were a disposable item.” In the last 20 years, textile production has doubled. In Spain, it is estimated that each citizen discards around 21 kilograms of clothing per year, according to the European Environment Agency.
Riezu explains via email that consumers’ growing preference for novelty over durability has created a generational divide in how quality is understood. “It’s a change in mentality that our grandparents (and some of our parents) don’t conceive or understand: buying to discard after a short time.” According to Riezu, the fast fashion industry encourages impulse and material reward. He warns: “There is no attachment, respect, or emotional journey with a garment you spend less than 20 years with.”
The dissonance between who we are now and who we used to be is reinforced by an even more powerful tension: the gap between who we are and who we want to be. While it’s only natural to blame multinational corporations for maximizing profit margins at the expense of consumers, and governments whose budget cuts have strangled already depleted public services, market logic is hard to dispute: things aren’t necessarily worse — they’re, to a large extent, exactly what we want them to be, or what we’ve been made to want. Put another way: it’s not the quality of things that’s declined — it’s us.

There’s a YouTube documentary about “planned obsolescence” with over a million views. It explains how some companies design certain products — especially household appliances — stop working after a certain period of time. This isn’t a conspiracy theory, but a proven fact. However, there’s another, lesser-known but even more effective method: convincing consumers that a product is outdated for aesthetic or symbolic reasons, even if it still works. This phenomenon is called “perceived obsolescence.” For example, Vinyals mentions young people who refuse to rent an apartment because it has old furniture, even though the material it’s made of is more durable and sturdier than the IKEA furniture they’ll ultimately end up investing in.
“Advertising and subliminal messages have turned human beings into zombies with no other goal than consumption,” says Juan Villoro in No soy un robot (I Am Not a Robot) (2024). A zombie who, moreover, has no time to waste. Rushing around and shopping for convenience are, according to Vinyals, another of the “pathologies” of the modern consumer. He questions why, instead of going to the market or the fruit stand, we prefer to buy tasteless tomatoes at the 24-hour supermarket next door. Why we spend $3 on a carton of juice instead of squeezing oranges, when we know the industrial version is made from concentrate. “Perhaps the best-known example of buying for convenience is paying around €75 per kilo for coffee just because it comes in capsules,” says Vinyals.
When did we stop having standards? That’s the question historian Wendy A. Woloson explores in Crap: A History of Cheap Stuff in America (2022). It all began in the mid-19th century. Before that, very few people owned many things. Objects were typically multifunctional: a table might serve as a work surface by day and a dinner table by night. Things were cared for and repaired — an old housecoat might become a child’s pair of pants. But as markets expanded and mass production took hold, cheaper and more accessible goods began to appear. “People were enchanted by the mix of variety and low price, as if they’d stumbled upon a secret treasure at minimal cost,” Woloson explains via email.
Over time, fashion trends fused with cheap products, and buying something new became almost mandatory. There was no longer any excuse not to have “the latest thing,” because it was within reach of almost everyone. As Woloson explains: “We have embraced this degraded material world, sometimes consciously, sometimes unconsciously. The things we need to live our lives — to do our work, to express ourselves, to understand who we are, and to forge relationships with others — are fundamentally cheap and alienating.” Paradoxically, this overabundance of things makes us poorer: “Like our objects, interactions and ways of thinking have become mediocre: superficial, ephemeral, and degraded.”
Technology can improve product quality, but it can also increase mediocrity and flaws. Artificial intelligence is a clear example of this. In just a few years, companies have handed over much of their customer service to algorithms and robots. According to a 2024 report by the software company Salesforce, 62% of these services in Spain are already automated. Today, it’s easier to converse with a machine than with a real person. The problem is that no one likes these systems: according to a study by the Cetelem Observatory published last October, five out of 10 consumers openly reject virtual assistants. The conclusion is clear: society isn’t adapting to the pace of technological advancement.
José Francisco Rodríguez, president of the Spanish Association of Customer Relations Experts, admits that a lack of digital skills can be particularly frustrating for older adults, who perceive that the quality of customer service has deteriorated due to automation. However, Rodríguez argues that, generally speaking, automation does improve customer service. Furthermore, he strongly rejects the idea that companies are seeking to cut costs with this technology: “Artificial intelligence does not save money or personnel,” he states. “The initial investment in technology is extremely high, and the benefits remain practically the same. We have not detected any job losses in the sector either.”
There are other harms caused by artificial intelligence that are rarely discussed. For example, a key tool gained from the internet — real opinions from other users — has been rendered useless. A 2020 analysis by Fakespot of 720 million Amazon reviews revealed that approximately 42% were unreliable or fake. This means that almost half of the reviews we consult before purchasing a product online may have been generated by robots, whose purpose is to either encourage or discourage purchases, depending on who programmed them.
Artificial intelligence itself could deteriorate if no action is taken. In 2024, bot activity accounted for almost half of internet traffic. This poses a serious problem: language models are trained with data pulled from the web. When these models begin to be fed with information they themselves have generated, it leads to a so-called “model collapse.”
It’s difficult to prove that today’s products are worse than those of 20 years ago. Many products are hard to compare due to the enormous price difference. According to Flyersrights, in recent decades, the space between airplane seats has decreased by up to 15 centimeters. But at the same time, flying in the United States now costs more than $200 less than it did three decades ago.
The real problem isn’t buying pants that don’t last or traveling in an uncomfortable plane. The real problem is that, with each purchase, we support two of the most polluting industries on the planet. The production and purchase of low-quality products is not sustainable. For Marta D. Riezu, a truly good product “contributes something useful to society. It’s linked to ethics, effort, and commitment.”

So maybe those protesting (and risking prison) for doing and the rest of us need to change tactic and find a way to resolve this in the courts.
No qualified judge can argue with the wording of international law, and the fact a number of international independent bodies have labelled this genocide. If anything else a judge in a lower court may not have the power to judge and needs to hand to a higher court.

L'idée d'un petit exercice amusant m'est venu en retranscrivant mes tous premiers voyages en train à travers la Belgique: comparer le "tour" fait un jour en 1985 et le refaire "sur papier" en 2025.
Une première constatation : par rapport à 1985, les temps de parcours ont peu évolué voire sont même plus longs pour certains!
1985, est une année "faste" pour les chemins de fer belges, ils fêtent leur 150 ans mais la SNCB est toujours convalescente de l'électrochoc du 3 juin 1984 et de la mise en place du plan drastique de restructuration qui vit la suppression de nombreuses sections de lignes et de centaines de points d'arrêts dont beaucoup en Wallonie et parfois sur des lignes rouvertes et électrifiées à grands frais dans les années 1970 comme la ligne 31 entre Ans et Liers dans la région liégeoise.
En 1985, il y a moins de trains qui circulent par rapport à aujourd'hui.
Le matériel roulant, lui, par contre a bien évolué depuis 1985, c'est une certitude!
En 1985, il y a encore pas mal de rames tractées par des machines diesel des séries 51, 52-54, 55, 62-63, de vieux autorails à caisse à unique série 44 et 45 et quelques 43, la majorité des automotrices sont des "classiques" qui vont de la 010 à la 782. Les quadruples et les breaks forment ce qu'il y a de plus moderne. Les voitures les plus représentées sont les voitures du type M4 que l'on retrouve dans les trains IC mais aussi dans les trains P. A côté de ces voitures modernes, il y a les I6 en trafic international mais il y a encore des I1 des années 1930 sur les trains vers Luxembourg au départ de Liège! On trouve encore de nombreuses voitures M2 et les M3 aussi qui sont cantonnées à la relation IR Zottegem - Gent - De Panne et nombre de voitures K sur les trains L et P. Autour de Gent, les dernières voitures L à portières latérale (nos "slam-doors") viennent de disparaître définitivement, on pouvait encore en croiser quelques -unes autour de Gent.
Les dessertes transfrontalières entre Arlon et Luxembourg sont maigres comparé à aujourd'hui, un train IC toutes les deux heures et quelques trains P omnibus aux heures de pointes; on est loin de la fréquence horaire des IC aujourd'hui en plus d'un L toutes les trente minutes tout au long de la journée en semaine du moins.
Et en 1985, pas de TGV et encore moins de LGV, les premiers projets arriveront avec les années 1990.
La vitesse de référence la plus élevée sur le réseau est 140 km/h, il faudra encore attendre un peu pour avoir une première section à 160 km/h entre Tournai et Mouscron sur la ligne 78 et un étrange dispositif en matière de signalisation pour autoriser le 160 : un "double vert"!
En 1985, j'étais adolescent et comme le hobby ferroviaire était tout nouveau, tout était à découvrir, à apprendre et il y avait une certaine impatience de partir à la découverte du plus grand nombre de lignes ferroviaires belges. A vrai dire, la passion avait commencé déjà bien avant mais en 1984, lorsque j'ai commencé à prendre le train pour aller à l'école chaque jour, elle s'est développée. Les seuls trajets que je connaissais étaient celui du parcours scolaire entre Herstal et Liège-Guillemins et aussi celui vers Oostende lorsque nous allions en vacances. En mai 1985, je me souviens avoir visité l'atelier central de Mechelen (Malines) lors d'une porte ouverte pour les 150 ans du rail en Belgique.
J'attendais donc juillet avec impatience pour partir à la découverte du réseau ferroviaire belge grâce à une carte libre-parcours qui s'appelait B-Tourrail et qui consistait en une carte réseau valable huit jours à choisir dans une période de seize. J'avais économisé de mon argent de poche pour pouvoir me payer deux cartes sur le mois et j'avais même pu m'offrir la version 1ère classe. Il existait un tarif junior si bien que ça n'était pas très cher vu la liberté offerte avec cette carte. A l'époque, pas de Go Pass ou autre Youth Ticket comme en 2025. Il faudra encore attendre 1989 pour que les premiers Go Pass permettent aux jeunes de voyager pas cher en Belgique! Jusque là, il n'existait rien à part les réductions familles nombreuses ou les billets 1 jour à la Mer/en Ardenne ou Week-end (également limité à la mer ou à l'Ardenne) pour avoir une réduction.
Le premier juillet 1985 était un lundi et nous étions probablement arrivé en vacances à la mer le samedi déjà, c'était ma grand-mère qui nous conduisait en voiture mais il se peut que j'y sois allé en train, je ne me souviens plus.
Il est un peu plus de six heures trente lorsque je me lève de façon à pouvoir prendre le tram à 7 h 52 à l'arrêt du Casino à Middelkerke. Arrivé à Oostende-Station à 8 h 15, il me reste encore vingt minutes pour atteindre le premier train qui part à 8 h 35. D'Oostende, pas le choix, il faut au moins aller jusqu'à Brugge pour avoir une bifurcation possible mais ce n'est pourtant pas ce que je fis.
L'IC 315 vers Köln-Hbf est donc mon premier train et il est composé de voitures I6 et peut-être une voiture DB en renfort et tracté par une locomotive de la série 16 ou 18 qui sont quadri-tensions et autorisées vers l'Allemagne. Je n'ai pas noté les numéros des véhicules pour cette première aventure à quelques exceptions près... chose qui deviendra une habitude à partir des voyages faits en décembre de la même année. Nous voici donc partis à travers la Flandre pour rejoindre Bruxelles-Nord où nous arrivons à 9 h 55.
Depuis que j'avais visité l'atelier central de Mechelen, une idée m'obsédait, emprunter une des curieuses automotrices doubles qui semblaient bien plus vieilles que celles que j'avais l'habitude de prendre pour aller à l'école. C'est chose faite avec le train suivant (L 6309) de Bruxelles-Nord à Antwerpen-Centraal. Ces automotrices sont, à l'époque, les plus anciennes du parc SNCB et ne peuvent circuler que sur les lignes équipées de quais hauts. Elles ont un marchepied rabattable. Le confort est assez semblable aux autres sauf peut-être en première classe où les sièges ne disposent pas d'appuie-tête. La première classe est aussi juste au-dessus du bogie, ça tangue un peu.
Nous quittons donc Bruxelles-Nord à 10 h 40. Il faut 55 minutes pour rejoindre Antwerpen-Centraal où nous arrivons à 11 h 35 avec un arrêt de quelques minutes à Mechelen pour laisser passer l'IC Bruxelles - Amsterdam assuré soit en automotrices "Hondekop" bleu marine ou une rame réversible composé d'une locomotive série 25.5 tractant ou poussant une rame mixte composée de voitures I4 ou I5 de la SNCB et des voitures des Nederlandses spoorwegen dont la voiture-pilote.
D'Antwerpen-Centraal, nous poursuivons avec le train IR 1610 vers Leuven et Landen assuré en automotrice classique, il desservait Berchem, Lier, Heist-op-den-Berg, et Aarschot. Dans cette dernière gare, il y avait une correspondance immédiate et quai à quai avec un autre IR vers Hasselt via Diest. Ces relations ont fusionné en 1988 pour former un IR Antwerpen - Aarschot - Hasselt - Liège qui n'existe plus en 2025. Arrivé à Leuven à 13 h 13, il me faut attendre 14 h 01 pour poursuivre avec le train L 7412 vers Ottignies. La ligne à cheval sur la frontière linguistique a été le théâtre d'un accident mortel à la fin des années 1990 où deux trains sont entrés en collision suite à la mauvaise compréhension (?) entre les signaleurs de Leuven et d'Ottignies. Une rame à vide d'automotrices classiques avaient quitté Wavre à contre-voie et sans autorisation et avait percuté de plein fouet la "Sprinter" à hauteur de Pécrot. Un douloureux souvenir pour le jeune cheminot que j'étais à l'époque de l'accident. Depuis lors, la sécurité des circulations a été renforcée avec la TBL 2 et puis l'ETCS, franchir un signal à l'arrêt est techniquement impossible aujourd'hui.
Arrivés à Ottignies à 14 h 38, nous avons juste le temps de changer de quai pour emprunter l'IC 988 vers Bruxelles-Nord composé d'AM "Break" de la première série (301 à 335). Les sièges de première classe étaient recouverts d'un autre tissus que celui utilisé ultérieurement ou dans les voitures M4. Notre train quitte Ottignies à 14 h 46 pour arriver à Bruxelles-Nord à 15 h 11. Les trains de la relation Luxembourg - Bruxelles étaient souvent sujets à des retards. Avant 1984, les prédécesseurs de ces trains, les semi-directs reliaient Luxembourg à Knokke et Blankenberge, la plus longue relation de la SNCB en terme de kilomètres.
Il devait être à l'heure car ce jour-là, j'ai pu directement emprunter l'IC 689 en direction de Knokke et Blankenberge qui partait à 15 h 17 de la gare du Nord et composé lui aussi d'automotrices "Break" mais de tranches plus récentes qui étaient toujours en cours de livraison d'ailleurs. Une heure et une minute plus tard, j'atteignais Brugge. Une petite anecdote concernant les bogies "Wegmann" des "Break", ceux-ci durent être adaptés car les riverains de la ligne 50 A entre Bruxelles-Midi et Gent-Sint-Pieters se plaignaient de fortes vibrations lors du passage des trains composés parfois jusqu'à six automotrices accouplées.
Vu que j'ai encore un peu de temps avant de rentrer, je décide de parcourir la petite ligne vers Zeebrugge. En 1985, il n'y a qu'une gare qui aujourd'hui s'appelle Zeebrugge-Dorp et qui est desservie hors saison estival, en été c'est Zeebrugge-Strand qui est desservie. J'emprunte donc le train P 4018 avec un départ à 16 h 30 vers Zeebrugge, arrivée là-bas à 16 h45. Quatre minutes plus tard, le train repart dans l'autre sens comme train P 4019 vers Brugge (arrivée à 17 h 04).
Et pour finir cette première journée, retour à Oostende avec l'IC 714 Bruxelles-Nord - Kortrijk - Brugge - Oostende avec un départ à 17 h 20 de Brugge et une arrivée à 17 h 37 à Oostende. Les trains de cette longue relation étaient formés d'une locomotive diesel série 51 et de voitures M2. Seule la section Bruxelles - Denderleeuw était électrifiée à l'époque mais la décennie 1980-1990 verra beaucoup de lignes être électrifiées pour réduire les coûts d'exploitation à terme. Les locomotives série 51 étaient des CC assez massives et impressionnante avec leur moteur Cockerill. Construites en 93 exemplaires entre 1961 et 1963 et aptes à 120 km/h, on les retrouvait en tête de diverses relations au départ de Schaarbeek et atteignaient même Lille en 1985. Plusieurs ont été préservées et d'autres ont fini leur carrière devant des trains de travaux en Italie notamment sans parler de la 5101 qui connut un destin un peu hors du commun de la série mais ça, c'est une autre histoire!
Il ne me reste plus qu'à rentrer à Middelkerke à bord d'une motrice BN encore récente en 1985 de la ligne de tramway de la côte comme le matin dans l'autre sens.
Si nous faisions le même trajet en 2025, nous partirions d'Oostende à 8 h 42 avec l'IC 508. Depuis la mise en service du Thalys, devenu Eurostar rouge, les trains IC Oostende - Köln n'ont pas survécu, la seule alternative aux Eurostar et ICE est la relation S 41 Liège - Aachen-Hbf... Notre train est composé de deux locomotives série 18 mais pas celles de 1985! Il s'agit des Vectrons de Siemens et d'une rame bigarrée formée de voitures M7 et de voitures I10. L'arrivée à Bruxelles-Nord est fixée à 10 h 05 soit un gain de temps de 3 minutes par rapport à 1985 et ce malgré d'important travaux. Cela tient au fait d'arrêts prolongé à Brugge et Gent notamment. En 1985, les horaires étaient serrés au maximum, ce qui n'était pas sans poser de problèmes...
Pour aller à Antwerpen-Centraal en mode "omnibus", nous empruntons le train S 1959 qui démarre à 10 h 38 et arrive à Antwerpen à 11 h 55 soit 1 h 17 à comparer avec les 55 minutes de 1985. Et c'est en Désiro que nous voyageons.
Pour rejoindre Leuven via Aarschot comme en 1985, nous empruntons l'IC 2912 composé de deux "break" qui sont de nos jours à trois caisses et modernisée en partie. Le train démarre à 12 h 30 et dessert les mêmes arrêts que le train IR de 1985 et Wezemaal en plus. En 1985, Wezemaal était desservi uniquement par trains P. Nous arrivons à Leuven à 13 h 24, soit un temps de trajet de 54 minutes à comparer avec 49 minutes en 1985.
Direction Ottignies maintenant avec le train S 3084 avec départ de Leuven à 13 h 55 pour une arrivée à Ottignies à 14 h 38 soit six minutes de plus pour le même trajet avec les mêmes arrêts (43 minutes au lieu de 37)! Notre matériel est ici à nouveau une Désiro.
A Ottignies, nous empruntons l'IC 2135 venant de Luxembourg et composé aujourd'hui de voitures M6 et d'une locomotive série 13. Départ d'Ottignies à 14 h 44 et arrivée à Bruxelles-Nord à 15 h 17 soit 33 minutes de trajet contre 25 en 1985. L'énorme chantier de mise à quatre voie y est sans doute pour quelque chose, il faudra voir les temps de parcours une fois les travaux achevés.
A Bruxelles-Nord, nous empruntons le train IC 1536 en direction de Blankenberge, dont le départ est fixé à 15 h 29 pour une arrivée à Brugge à 16 h 26 soit 57 minutes de trajet pour 61 en 1985; gain de temps minime donc. Le train est composé de voitures M7 en mode rames-bloc avec voiture pilote et voiture motrice.
Il ne nous reste plus qu'à faire notre aller-retour jusqu'à Zeebrugge-Strand que nous effectuerons encore une fois en Desiro. Pour ce faire nous empruntons, à l'aller le train L 586 dont le départ est à 16 h 34 pour une arrivée à 16 h 50 soit 16 minutes, ce qui normal puisque le trajet est un petit peu plus long en termes de kilomètres. Pour repartir, nous restons dans la Desiro comme autrefois et repartons avec le train L 567 qui repart à 17 h 07 et arrive à Brugge à 17 h 22. Le trajet retour est une minute plus rapide!
Et pour rejoindre Oostende, nous emprunterons l'IC 1837 en provenance d'Antwerpen et composé de voitures M6 et d'une locomotive série 18 dont le départ est prévu de Brugge à 17 h 38 et une arrivée à Oostende à 17 h51, soit 13 minutes de trajet contre 17 pour la traction diesel d'antan. Nous noterons qu'en 1985, en traction électrique les temps de parcours variaient de 13 à 15 minutes selon le type de matériel (AM 800 ou rame tractée).
Ce que nous constatons en premier lieu, c'est que les temps de parcours sont souvent plus longs de quelques minutes ou alors les gains de temps obtenus par les nombreux travaux de modernisation sont assez dérisoires par rapport à il y a quarante ans.
Comme évoqué plus haut, les horaires sont plus distendus aujourd'hui qu'à l'époque et cela tient sans doute au fait qu'ils incluent des restrictions dues à des travaux mais je pense aussi que cela a pour but d'embellir un peu les statistiques de ponctualité car celle-ci joue un rôle important dans les éventuelles sanctions financières que la SNCB peut subir si ses trains sont en retard. Dernier élément à prendre en compte : le nombre de voyageurs transportés et le nombre de trains en circulation est bien plus important qu'en 1985!
Je reste cependant, certain que l'on pourrait faire mieux quand même!
J'espère que ce petit retour dans le passé aura éveillé quelques souvenirs et si le cœur vous en dit, rendez-vous dans un prochain article pour une autre "virée" ferroviaire et pour découvrir d'autres aspects du rail en Belgique en cet été 1985. Il paraît que l'été de nos quinze ans est le plus beau, je ne sais pas pour vous, mais pour moi, ce fût le cas!

Deshalb könnte der Springer Verlag Herrn Sefati - abweichend vom sonstigen deutschen Arbeitsrecht - eine Kündigung aussprechen, wenn er Israels Existenzrecht leugnet, und Ihnen und von der Tann, weil Sie die Grundsätze des Medienstaatsvertrags zur Neutralität missachten.
5. Sie wissen so gut wie ich, dass letzteres nicht passieren wird. Aber Tann hat dieses Gebot gröblich verletzt. Den Botschafter herablassend - und falsch - zu belehren, wie angeblich die „Pressefreiheit in Deutschland“ funktioniert, ist vor allem: Peinlich für Sie. Auf offener Bühne.
Und wissen Sie was? Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass der Herr Botschafter Sie da in die Falle gelockt hat. Weil er traurigerweise bei Ihnen und Tann weiß, dass der ÖRR Journalismus so schlecht geworden ist, dass er nicht mal die Grundlagen der eigenen Arbeit recherchieren kann, bevor er tweetet.

Scariest thing I've ever learned in my entire life.
Seems like in my rush to become more physically active and get in shape I've aggravated my plantar fasciitis. Working out in my bare feet without support for my naturally high arches is one part of the problem, along with walking around barefoot and/or wearing sandals in this warmer weather. Friday was the first time that I rode a bike in 45 years. I've done circles in a parking lot in weeks prior, but the other day I did 6 miles.
Riding is a lower impact, butthe muscles are used in different ways which can lead to other ailments.
I need to setup my massage table and start doing some good, deep stretching to help my body heal from these new stresses I'm putting it through
