"Au printemps, neuf prédations ont été recensées sur le plateau de Millevaches, possiblement imputables à des loups, suscitant la colère des éleveurs. En réponse, la préfecture de Corrèze a déployé une Brigade Loup pour les abattre. Nos associations de protection de la nature et de l'environnement proposent une autre voie pour venir en soutien aux éleveurs."

there are onion layers of truth, one layer looking bad, but only covering another layer that reverses the first layer

I agree that it's important to be confident that what you say is true before saying it. That's part of having integrity. It's also important to understand the difference between truth and belief - something most people today are very terrible at.
That said, I will *always* favor disclosure. It's far worse to hide the truth than to say something and be wrong about it. The latter can be fixed with open discussion and education. The former has no civil solution.
> there are onion layers of truth
With all due respect, this is rhetorical bullshit. There is only the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. If you're splitting it into "onion layers", you're not telling the whole truth. That's also called "lying by omission".

it's also part of doing your homework.

in reply to Sir Ryan Bemrose • • •so what if somebody fools you in thinking that there is a terrible pandemic and that you should get a shot against it
you would be telling the truth at this point to repeat their statements
but it turns out the pandemic was just a cold, and the shot could be really damaging to you
but at this point, the truth would be different
but in both cases you exercised integrity
