@Nawer_Rapter correcto pero la cuestión es que se puede romper el oligopolio visa-mastercard y eso ya es algo más positivo que negativo, aunque no arregle del todo la situación al menos abre la puerta a nuevos métodos de pago.
Lo de las cryptos, pues lo que tú dices, ojalá sirviesen para lo que decían que iba a servir y no para lo que sirven (aunque a nivel macroeconómico nunca iba a resultar por la propia naturaleza del dinero, pero eso ya es otro debate).

The video playback should get choppy if the CPU is overloaded, the PC shouldn't shut down from that. It sounds like your CPU may be overheating. I would suggest monitoring the CPU temperature while playing the video.
Based on the "U" at the end of the CPU model name, I'm guessing this is a laptop. OP, your CPU probably needs a re-paste because it's got a decade old CPU and the laptop fan is inadequate. That's why it's shutting down.
Aside from the other answers, no you can't offload computations to memory. Memory stores data, it doesn't compute.
The only way having more memory can possibly improve performance, is by having a cached copy of files so they don't have to be fetched from disk, and applications potentially caching the results of heavy but reusable computations. (Unless you run out of memory and starts spilling over to disk, then more memory will make it fast again by avoiding swapping).
I mean I guess technically yes you could transcode into H264 into a tmpfs mount, and then play the H264, but you're still not doing it faster and certainly not fast enough to watch in real time, you're just decoding the AV1 well in advance before actually watching it.

Most of the answers seem to focus on the main problem, but your question got me thinking. Since you are not getting shutdowns with lower qualities, maybe you could use RAM to play those videos. Set up tmpfs. Before you start all the other things, use ffmpeg to recode the video to something without any compression, maybe tell it to not work too fast (like work on one frame at a time), and put the thing on that tmpfs. Maybe then playing this new file would be less demanding. The key would be to not force it to provide 30fps of encoded video
Although... Are you sure all this RAM is fine? Maybe it shuts down on more demanding videos because with those the RAM usage raises to the faulty part?
It sounds like you are also possibly overheating. You don’t have hardware decoding for av1 on that computer so it’s all cpu work. But from my extensive use and testing with AV1 there is nothing about your hardware that should fail to play back 1080p 30fps av1 video.
I had an i5-7200u equipped laptop and I could do AV1 playback, not well but it didn't do what you described.
Also is it maxing out memory or cpu? I would check btop during playback. Look at CPU usage, memory usage and temps while doing so and report here.
Edit: Something is definitely wrong with your machine, that is abnormal behavior. Maybe it's overheating, maybe it's trying to do some sort of gpu decode and has no idea what to do with it as it doesn't support it. Can you check what encoder mpv is using? I would assume it would failback to CPU.

Can anyone really believe that if #Israel can track and assassinate leaders of #Hamas, #Hezbollah, #Iran, and other enemies around the world with ease, or plant explosives in pagers which it then has distributed to its enemies, or eliminate journalists quickly, that it somehow failed to anticipate and have intelligence about a well planned, massive and and eminent attack against Israel?
An Israeli military investigation released in 2025 would dupe us into believing that it was a 'complete failure' to protect civilians and anticipate attack and that Israel was “tricked” by Hamas.
It is more likely the other way around, given long time reported clandestine Israeli funding for Hamas as a means of creating disunity in the Palestinian political system. In addition, by funding an “enemy” Netanyahu always has the threat of Hama to use as a political tool to keep himself in power. Not to mention the Israeli operatives who infiltrated the ranks of Hamas. Hamas has not and is still not demanding the recognition of the State of Palestine and compliance with the decision of the International Court of Justice that Israel and its settles vacate Palestine. Why not ?
Lobbing ineffective missiles indiscriminately by Hamas is a violation of International Law, thus depriving Hamas of much world support, and providing a “justified” more destructive response from Israel. Hamas, for whatever reason, was totally wrong to think it could participate in a massacre without Gazans and all Palestinians paying the gruesome price. and total disregard for International Law, losing world support for its “resistance” against The Occupation.
Intelligence failure? This Israel-Gaza border is the most surveilled, observed, and armed in the world. Was this in essence a " #falseflag " attack promoted by the leaders of Israel in order to justify the seizure of Palestine?
Given how power crazy Netanyahu is, changing laws to escape being tried for corruption, with his long running clandestine support for Hamas to provide him a political foil, and with the over thee edge extreme mind set of the fundamentalist Zionist regime he leads, is it not plausible that the border was left unguarded on purpose? Anyone who would retaliate for the murder of a thousand and a quarter innocents with the murder of more than seventy thousand, inflict life longs scars on a million children, reduce Gaza to rubble, and try to annex the West Bank and East Jerusalem is certainly capable of such.

Listening to part 4, Beer brings up an interesting point. Ashby's Law of Requisite Variety proposes that, for all humans, there exists a maximum complexity that can be understood.
Beer suggests that we may not even be able to understand our own modern lives (this is from 1977). I wonder if we might think of conspiracy theories as a mechanism to decrease variety within models that have internal contradictions.
Of course we can't understand our own existence at this point. We're so far off the rails into uncharted territory beyond anything our brains were adapted for.

People did vote for Trump in part because they believed he'd be different. On the other hand, they also voted for Obama twice because they believed he'd be different, and only now are we discovering just how wrong that assumption was -- and in the end, Obama just waits out the spin cycle and he'll come out sparkling clean. Every year there are more taxes, more lawsuits, more regulations, more cops, more prisoners, more violent criminals, more interest, more fees, and less wages. The government has more or less openly admitted that the entire political process is theatre, the decisions are made elsewhere, and no one will ever be allowed into power unless the actual power structure has sexual blackmail on them.

Initially you had money that anyone could exchange for silver or gold. Then post-Depression the money could only be exchanged by foreigners under certain circumstances.
Then in the 1970s the French showed up and said hand over the gold, and the USA decided not to redeem its currency any more.
The money is a check you cannot cash. It is a promise to deliver another promise in the future, and that is all.

That is why such a system produces either real economic growth, constant inflation, or a boom-bust cycle. It cannot run at a steady state.
If you cannot create more BTC then you will get the boom-bust cycle. They had that in the free banking era. Other things will then have to be introduced as monetary base.
However, this is a math problem and we have computers now. We should be able to solve it. There has been deliberate confusion injected into economics. The few who understand the problem are profiting from it.
We need a big discrete event simulation of the economy, so all the proposed alt-money schemes can be tested out.

Not having a single unit of account and pricing in it is really hard. You can play around with stuff, but when push comes to shove, everyone wants to specify prices of ongoing agreements in one common unit.

Bitcoin does not have that feedback loop, which means it cannot be the single base of a monetary system for long. With gold and silver, high prices motivated the miners.
Could be that choice of national currencies does it. And then central banks will just use BTC to back their currencies and the USD will stop being world reserve.

The constant effort it takes the State to oppress us is not manageable. It is already breaking, with the funding and hiring disasters in federal agencies, the infighting between the Trump administration and his base, and the complete political catastrophe over Israel.
The harshness of the State’s eye on our movement is nothing more than a defensive reaction, a mask from their fear. This is as much of a make or break moment for them as it is for us. If we come out of this with our solidarity and our infrastructure intact, it is a monumental win for our communities and a devastation to our enemies.

I was talking to someone yesterday (let's call them A) and they had another "AI" experience, I thought might happen but hadn't heard of before.
They were interacting with an organization and upon asking a specific thing got a very specific answer. Weeks later that organization claimed it had never said what they said and when A showed the email as proof the defense was: Oh yeah, we're an international organization and it's busy right now so the person who sent the original mail probably had an LLM write it that made shit up. It literally ended with: "Let's just blame the robot ;)".
(Edit: I did read the email and it did not read like something an LLM wrote. I think we see "LLM did it" emerging as a way to cover up mistakes.)

Can't get excited for any riot game. It would just end up like lol. Like a toxic abusive ex you keep going back to. I remember Valorant ranked being so much fun, now it's just miserable. The stats say this too. Most players are stuck in lower ranks. Such a good game wasted by riot whose only goal is selling skins.
As a fighting game fan, this one shows promise. The devs are the Cannon brothers. They are the guys that founded Evo, the biggest fighting game event. They also created and freely licensed rollback netcode, the gold standard for fighting game netcode. the core of the game will likely be excellent. The f2p model hasn't really been done at this level in fighting games. Most games are sold at full price and they sell costumes and characters as dlc. I'm hoping this game will get more people to try fighting games and hopefully it doesn't become a loot box simulator.
