Second monitor not working on Fedora 42 (Solved) [RTX 4070Ti]

I just got this laptop and the second monitor is clearly detected by Fedora, as the monitor layout popup pops up, but the monitor doesn't actually work.

I assume this to be an NVIDIA problem, but as I have no experience with NVIDIA-based issues, I thought I'd ask here.

Here's my system specs:
Operating System: Fedora Linux 42 KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.16.0 Qt Version: 6.9.1 Kernel Version: 6.15.7-200.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 24 × Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 275HX Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (30.8 GiB usable) Graphics Processor: Intel® Graphics Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 83LU System Version: Legion Pro 5 16IAX10H

Side note - is it not detecting my GPU?

#Russia's ‘systematically important’ #banks discussing bailout within next year

Behind closed doors, some of Russia’s biggest banks worry that far more of their loans could go sour than official figures indicate.

If those fears materialize, the resulting losses could force them to raise the issue with the central bank and seek government support, Bloomberg wrote.

DIY Waterjet:

All the parts of the nozzle are like $200 total, and that nozzle is good to 60,000 PSI.

The pump is obscenely expensive, you pretty much have to build one yourself. If you're okay with 4,000 PSI, you can use a pressure washer, but it won't cut like a professional waterjet. But the way I see it, building a piston pump is probably NOT that big a deal, if you have a milling machine.

The hoses are another fuckery, they're hundreds of dollars per meter and hundreds of dollars for the ends. I think for a DIY project, it would be easier to keep the head stationary and move the worktable, just because hard pipes are easy, you can make them yourself.

Ah, Mark Carney, the so-called responsible manager, the genius of international markets, the guru of the value of money. The guy who swore up and down he would manage our public funds like a Zen master, cut taxes, erase the deficit, and melt down that mountain of debt we drag around like an anchor.

But in reality, as soon as he stepped into office, we found out he’s an even bigger spender than Justin Trudeau himself. Yes, you read that right: a guy who promises discipline and, without even bothering to present a first budget, already announces that 5% of GDP will go to defense. Not 5 dollars, 5% of GDP. That could cost between 150 and 160 billion.

But wait, that’s not all. No, no, he’s also going to throw tens of billions into massive national infrastructure projects.

In short: “We’re not going into debt, we’re just digging a bigger hole and filling it with your taxes, your fees, and your dashed hopes.” Bravo, Mark.

What is an "everything app"? The planned features are the following: video, encrypted direct messages, longform tweets, Blue Verified program, and payments.

It would mean there's a big incentive to use Twitter for all of these things: as a creator, why would I use different platforms for my videos, my articles and my social posts if I can use my Twitter following for everything?

As a general user, I can just follow the people I like in one single place, no need to use ten apps to see everything. And since I'm already there for the videos and articles and tweets, why not also use the DMs in here, instead of using a separate app? And at that point, the payment feature makes sense, and since I setup a payment method, why not use Twitter to pay in real life as well?

And on paper, it looks kinda cool, but we're faced with a bunch of big problems.

The first issue is control. If everyone uses Twitter for their social network needs, for their videos, payment, article reading, day to day messaging, then Twitter controls MAJOR parts of the internet.

They control communications, with all your DMs and group conversations, and all the day to day background noise that is social media. They control monetary exchanges between people and between people and various stores or websites. And they control the content people watch and read, with articles and videos.

Of course, there's another problem, a privacy problem. Yeah, since everything you do is in one single application, this also means your profile in this specific app is incredibly big and valuable to advertisers.

Imagine this goldmine: Twitter would know which companies you follow, what you liked, who you talked to, what article you read, which videos you watched, which contacts you talk to the most, what you talk about with these contacts, who you send money to, what you buy online, or even in real life.

There's also a security issue. With that amount of data available on so many people, Twitter becomes a big, big target for hackers. Sure, they want to encrypt the DMs, but no encryption is invulnerable, and the rest of the data might be accessible. They could access the information users supplied to be verified, they could access payment history, or use the data to launch disinformation campaigns.

But, fortunately, this vision will probably not happen. Because the elephant in the room is WeChat: WeChat IS the everything app for China. But WeChat managed to lock people into these features because they didn't really exist outside of wechat before.

Twitter becoming an everything app doesn't solve any problems people have. Everything this new vision offers is already available, and the other options are already very popular.

So, fortunately, the Twitter 2.0 vision is probably not going to be the all in one app that takes over everything else, because if people don't have a strong incentive to use it instead of what they already use, it won't work. And Twitter adding these features isn't a strong incentive.

Facebook tried again and again to be the everything app. Twitter 2.0 is nothing new, it's what Facebook has been trying to accomplish since its creation.

» Bravo Mark

During the election campaign, Mark Carney bragged about his negotiating skills. He wasn’t just some back-office bean counter, no sir! He was the guy who could bend Donald Trump like an old beach umbrella. He proudly pledged to negotiate hard — elbows up, as he liked to say — ready to throw down like in a back-alley brawl.

But once elected, the guy with the sharp elbows turned soft as a kitten. To avoid upsetting the U.S. bully-in-chief, he scrapped the digital services tax over a single weekend — poof, gone like a magician's trick.

And that long-awaited deal? First it was supposed to happen “before the G7,” then “during the G7,” then “before July 21,” and finally “August 1, pinky swear!” In the end? A tariff-free deal? Highly unlikely. So unlikely it might as well have never existed. The red line he drew? Off on vacation with his spine.

So now, the guy who promised to throw elbows is on his knees polishing his master's boots with a diplomatic grin. Someone should remind him that elbows up wasn’t supposed to mean hands behind your back.

». Et au final ? Une entente sans tarifs ? Peu probable.

@nozaki Renoir is STILL literally me.

I actually answered this two posts ago lol so I will direct you there but it is a very easy game to like and almost every idea it brings to the table is well thought out. (The stats and weapon upgrades are a little deranged but thats just nitpicking.) Every character has an EO tier engine to crank so you iterate through an interesting flowchart but because its a 3 man game they cannot rely on or require party synergy so the archetypes and implementation are different so these guys moonwalked into that depth from a different direction.

in reply to DrRyanSkelton

If you had shown me this game without telling me about the devs I like to think I would have picked up on the Ubisoft connection very quickly. Ubisoft used to have this really good game design talent. Basically the entire narrative of them in the 360 era as a company was witnessing varying degrees of talent and ambition from people really interested in the craft mixed with AAA publisher suit slop. Conviction, Blacklist, Future Soldier, Wildlands, Mario Rabbids, Watch Dogs 2, For Honor, the bizarre frankengame that was Ass Creed Black Flag where it was literally half unplayable dogshit and half the coolest pirate game ever created, all of these were soufle mixing the Ubi quality and publisher slop in various measures but you could alwys taste both flavors. The thing that COE33 most feels like is something those developers could and would do without any of the suits bullshit.

Its all feelings of course and I could be convincing myself ex post facto but I am always right soo..

This entry was edited (1 month ago)

Cleared Act 1 of COE33. I am kinda glad I have already seen most of the game watching vtubers because if they sprung some of these tweests on me blind... I dunno.

I am amazed at how effective the writing, voicework, and cinematography function here. The story has explained nothing so far and still lands some powerful story beats with nothing but theatrical skill. Let COE33 stand as a perfect counter argument to the tranny dub defenders who say the cheesy lines are why the dub sounds bad.

It's still a JRPG though so seeing a third of the same solved fight requiring the same dialed in moves is still a bit grating
