Careful with the interpretation, though. This is not an estimate of “X people died because the drug they needed couldn't be imported due to sanctions" or anything direct like that. It's much closer in spirit to “Sanctions depressed GDP and more people die in poorer countries” reasoning. Which you might be more sceptical of if it were presented in reverse: “Free trade agreements save millions of lives!”

Last month the grader collapsed a drain at the side of the road, leaving a deep, somewhat hazardous, hole at a corner's edge. We all drove around it for a while, then the Council realised it was a hazard.

So first they built a fence around the hole (narrowing the road) and painted it white, and then came back some days later to add reflective edge markers in case it got dark.

The fence with its markers was in the road on a bend but people managed to drive around it for a couple of weeks. Still, the fence was a hazard and the obvious solution was for the Council to deal to it and put some road cones down; road cones, around the fence, around the hole.

But honestly the road cones are a bit of a hazard. As you know, they invariably wander and tip over, forcing drivers onto the other side of the narrowed road and into the path of oncoming vehicles, which could be thought of as a suboptimal outcome.

I'm now wondering what we will protect the road cones with, because obviously that's only possible logical solution.

@supersid333 @ChristiJunior and now i feel emotionally and mentally exhausted

part of me didn't want to speak my mind because this was what i expected to have happened

yet honestly, part of me wanted this to happen, because it proves they were all evil

i'm not sure what this feeling is still, but i don't think i really regret it.

they'll probably do everything they can to take me down from the workshop as well, alongside new mods being publically uploaded, now that i think about it, but as much as i don't want that to happen...

it's kinda strange. there's two parts of me that really just wanna have fun with people, no matter who they are, and is pained by the loss, and the part of me that doesn't want to be pushed around in any way in order to have fun that doesn't regret a thing.

the one that doesn't want to be pushed around obviously won, but i also feel the pain of the loser too

Well, there's drunk tourists, Karen tourists, whiny tourists and stupid tourists. There's also people trying to do things they shouldn't, like grow drugs, make drugs, and smuggle drugs.

There's wildlife problems, both flora and fauna. The occasional fire. Lots and lots of walking. Lots and lots of alone time. Lots and lots of carrying heavy objects.

Also, peaceful sunsets, peaceful sunrises, and an amazing farmer's tan.

No Meals, Fainting Nurses, Dwindling Baby Formula: Starvation Haunts Gaza Hospitals

After #Israeli restrictions on aid, hunger has risen across Gaza. Doctors and nurses, struggling to find food themselves, lack the resources to stem the surge.

In several of the hospitals still functioning in #Gaza, nurses are fainting from hunger and dehydration. Managers often cannot provide meals for patients or medical staff. Doctors are running low on formula for newborn babies, in some cases giving them water alone.

And at least three major hospitals lack the nutritional fluids needed to properly treat malnourished children and adults.

Those scenes were described in interviews starting Friday with seven doctors — four from Gaza, and three volunteers from Australia, Britain and the #US.
