That's why there are so many auto makers for instance. All autonomous regions, big cities, etc created their own. A strong competitive environment is culling the herd, as it should be. But the way it works ordinary citizens don't suffer as much from the collapse of failed industries as they do in the West.

For a number of years now I have a MacBook Pro Silicon M1 Max. It worked beautifully.

Spouse and I were talking last night about the healthy changes we're making in our lives, & we realized we've both been feeling the need to heal & take care of ourselves in order to be ready to do our part in resistance.
We don't know what is coming, what opportunity or responsibility we may have to act on, so it feels like a good time to get centered & healthy.
If you are in a position to make changes in your life that will help you when you are called on, I think that's an excellent thing.
We're both reducing our substance use, because we don't want to numb ourselves any longer. We look at our life & habits & they are all centered on surviving capitalist hell—many of them are actually the "cures" that capitalism sells us because we are vulnerable & exhausted.
That's not good enough for us anymore. Yes, this oppressive world beats us down, but we are not beaten yet.
I may not be preparing for war, but I am trying to get my body & mind in shape for doing work that needs doing.
My mental model is Nazi Germany, not because it's a perfect analogy, but because it's good enough to give me clarity of purpose.
I imagine what it would be like to be there as Nazis took power, and what moral obligations that would create. One of them I think is simply to be clear-eyed & ready to help & protect others. So I set my mind on that. I consider my home a refuge...here, in this house, we resist. We withdraw our participation from this oppressive system, and start living differently.
Spouse mentioned a trans friend we recently met & said he can't stop thinking about the fact that the fash don't think she should exist. She's full of life, bold, funny, & just a lovely human.
And that's it. We owe it to her, to all our beloved friends who the fash want to disappear from this world to say no, I can't numb myself to this anymore. What we stand to lose is far too precious. We fight for love. We fight for beauty & truth, for joy, & for the right of every person to exist in peace.
So yeah, don't try to "get healthy" to be a better participant in capitalism, but try to prepare your mind & body for the future, for the people who may need you & the work you need to do.
A barrier to participating more in community support actions is that I'm just too tired. I don't have the energy (mental or physical) to do much beyond surviving.
I don't feel guilty about being beaten down to this point, but I feel I can make changes to make it more feasible for me to help others.
Honestly, getting fit & strengthening my body so that I have the energy it takes to show up for others in whatever capacity they might need is so much more motivational than trying to drop a pants size or two.
I was just telling my therapist I didn't know what I could use to replace diet culture & body shaming to motivate me in efforts to be more healthy & care for my body, and I think I found it! As I strengthen my body, I can remind myself I *need* this body for the work of helping others.
And always remind yourself that the guilt and shame is a WEAPON that has been inflicted on us intentionally.
Somebody is WORKING very hard to make sure we feel tired and overwhelmed and ashamed. That somebody is the enemy, and we don't give them what they want if we can help it.

🔴 URGENT | Israeli Forces Attack UAWC’s Seed Bank Multiplication Unit in Hebron
Just moments ago, Israeli occupation forces launched a military assault on the Multiplication Unit of UAWC Seed Bank in the Hebron area, using bulldozers and heavy machinery to demolish storage facilities and infrastructure essential to the unit’s operations.
The attack resulted in the destruction of critical facilities used for storing agricultural materials and inputs, constituting a direct assault on Palestinian food sovereignty, efforts to preserve heirloom seeds, and a continued targeting of the Union itself.
We call on all allies, friends, and international partners to urgently act to stop these violations and hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its crimes against land, people, and seeds.
We further urge increased solidarity and support for Palestinian farmers and their right to remain on their land.
