If you want a more complex way of creating and managing VMs, there is also virt-manager. But I feel that one is more suited for, say, professional use.
That's right, virt-manager is a GUI with many, many options. It is more tailored to run several VMs at once, give limited network access into or out of them, and so on.
Also very handy to run tiny, outdated Windows systems with an app you can't get rid off isolated from the net because it runs your grandpa's heart-lung machine or so.

Someone else brought up Virt Manager here, which is my preferred; if you’ve ever used VirtualBox, you’ll probably be fine on Virt Manager. I like Virt Manager for using GTK3, as I’m in XFCE. I wouldn’t be surprised if both applications have similar settings, as they’re both LibVirt front ends, it seems.
Also, DistroBox, while a different sort of thing, is great for the sort of thing OP mentioned in that last paragraph. I usually just use command line, but there seems to be an unofficial GUI out there.
I really like Boxes, but since it can only run VMs in the unprivileged qemu:///session, it simply doesn't support features like PCI passthrough, autostart or even slightly sophisticated networking setups. :/

I managed to move to #AwesomeWM from #dwm, after discovering that #suckless folks are a bunch of nazis. Also, I had some stability issues that with all the C patching were hard to debug. I gotta say dwm's workflow and defaults are just great, though, and I HAD to replicate most of it in Awesome.
It's not a minimalistic wm, it has so many features by default but such a great documentation though.
The problem is that I'm definitely not a fan of #lua, but I'll take it over nazis anytime. #linux

Since switching to Emacs I have lost all interest in Suckless-like tool sets which attempt to all be minimal and written in C. I started to realize that the idea of trying to write “minimal” apps in C according to the Unix philosophy which are then composed together with some amalgam of scripting languages like Bash and Lua (or Python) was something of a fool’s errand. Really if you want tools that are minimal, easy to understand, and easy to compose into new workflows, what you should be using is a programming language with a good interactive programming environment all licensed under the GPL. So Emacs Lisp and the Emacs editor, or maybe Smalltalk running the Glamorous IDE, although that one is MIT licensed.
In my experience, most Emacs folk are staunchly anti-fascist.

@anthk yeah, I am a little wary of RMS’s, his philosophy is more libertarian than anarchist, and this is starting to be a problem for me.
Both libertarian and anarchists agree that freedom is a fundamental right, but anarchists have a much better sense of morality in that they understand that people cannot be fully be free unless they live they have full self-determination free from exploitation. Libertarians like RMS seem to be OK with free software being used by exploitative landlords and rent-seekers, OK with using free software for war and mass murder. Libertarians seem to believe that restricting freedom of criminals (e.g. war criminals) is antithetical to allowing all people equal software freedom.
