If pharmacogenomic testing was cheaper and more widely available, it'd be way easier to give people an idea of how well (or not) a lot of medications are likely to work for them without them having to take anything so they have a better idea of if they might be in for a bad time or not. (It's basically just testing if a person has specific genes that are known to affect how well a medication works and if they might need the dosage adjusted; I think there's also tests for genes linked to allergic reactions as well.)

It's routinely used for cancer treatments, but not really anywhere else as far as I know. And it's super expensive too - even in Australia and other places with widespread publicly funded healthcare, pretty much all pharmacogenomic testing that's not part of clinical trial has huge out of pocket costs.

But with HRT... yeah. Pretty much all the permanent effects take at least a month or two to happen, but it starts kicking in very quickly, especially the brain effects - probably a week or so tops for me. So there's plenty of time to decide if it's working well or not. And AFAIK, it's the same for any medically bad side effects - they take a while to happen, and AFAIK there's usually solutions to them other than stopping HRT altogether. The only downside is that it's really hard to predict how well HRT is going to work for someone so blood tests are kind of necessary to see if it's actually working and to check on some of the bad side effects. And those are expensive to arrange privately.

(With that being said it's still worth asking someone why they want to try it, solely because if T was more easily available there are some people who would go for it because they want the steroid effects and only those effects. But then again, there's already a huge black market trade in steroids, so it's not like the current system is stopping those people from getting steroids anyway - it just makes it way more likely that they're not telling their doctor what they're doing until they're really unwell or can't hide it anymore, and they're not getting it from safe sources either. So maybe it'd work as harm reduction there too, and be a chance to redirect those people to something more appropriate for their situation.)

The fans don't work, but there actually is a type of device that legitimately can help. Essentially like a sort of "air conditioner" in that it uses a thermoelectric process (like portable refrigerators often use) to transfer some heat away.

The only catch is that this is insanely inefficient, so they can only remove a tiny bit of heat at a time. No replacement for real AC or better temperatures. It might help avoid some of the worst issues by focusing on a key area, but only just that. (Also they're relatively expensive. Around $100-ish. That's why the fan versions are all most people know of.)

EDIT: I guess because of the cost they've largely disappeared from the market. I tried to search for one and they may be the $200+ category now... Or gone even.

- EDN export is introduced besides MD export
- sync and RTC require a subscription
- practically, you can't run the sync on your own
- #Zotero no longer part of the core app

If this holds true, I can't endorse use of logseq any more.

I need to migrate other people's setups I was maintaining to a different solution. Too bad as it was the only good #PIM tool option I could find outside #Emacs #orgmode. 😔

It was my first-love (and my first replacement for #OneNote) and the fact that it supports #E2EE pretty seamlessly across all my devices meaning it's place in my heart hasn't wavered. ---

Bei den Bruchteilen von Centbeträgen, die #Spotify pro Stream offenbar zahlt, wären über 3000 Streams nötig, wenn nicht sogar mehr, um auf 10 Euro Umsatz zu kommen. Krieg ich auch auf Dauerschleife kaum hin.
Ich kauf lieber bei #Bandcamp. Ich kann eh nicht alle Musik der Welt hören. Bei Aktionen wie dem heutigen #BandcampFriday verzichten Bandcamp zugunsten der Künstler auf seine Anteil am Umsatz. Und dort krieg ich alles schön als FLAC und kann es so lange behalten, wie ich will.

Clouds reflected in Crater Lake today. Passing clouds, white, grey, and well-developed, are reflected on the surface of Crater Lake as this National Park Service web camera view from the Sinnott Memorial Overlook reveals. The lake itself is a nice blue color. The sky is a lighter blue. Tiny patches of snow are visible on the left, just above the water line. Wizard Island (“named for its resemblance to a wizard’s hat” and composed in part of “frothy andesite”!) is also reflected in the lake.
