It was also good to understand something about hummingbird behavior. Apparently they are able to make mental maps within their territory to maximize the flower’s replenishment of nectar. They won’t usually return to the same bloom in consecutive feeds if there are other options. So—theoretically—if I waited long enough, it would eventually get to the grouping of flowers that I wanted to shoot.

And the offshoot photography tip: make sure your hands know which direction your knobs and the rings on your lens go. You can probably see it in the viewfinder but sometimes that split second can make a huge difference. I couldn’t actually TELL you which way the knobs go (aperture is on my thumb and shutter is on my index) but when my hands are on the camera, it’s automatic.

Except that's not how the House of Representatives work.

The House represents the People in Congress, which is why each State has a certain number of Representatives based on population/ Census.

The Senate represents the State in Congress. That's why every State from... California to Rhode Island... has two Senators. Each State is treated equally. It's also why DC has Representatives and so does Puerto Rico, Guam, and American Samoa, but they don't have Senators because they're not States.

Let's also not forget that our Country is not one monolithic Country. We are a Republic of 50 sovereign States.

Blah blah blah. You're literally defending a legislature structure that was designed specifically to ensure that SLAVERY could continue. The Senate and Electoral College are both vestiges of our country's original sin that some people were treated as property, and others were treated as savage beasts. We need to burn this whole government structure to the ground and start all over again from something more like a parliament, same as virtually every other democracy created in the last 200 years because our system is designed for grid locking any possible mechanism of progress or providing checks on the President.

I'm not defending anything but until our constitution changes that's what we've got.

Also, you mention it was a system designed to ensure slavery could continue. I disagree.

Of course our Constitution considered slaves to only be 3/5 of a person (and thus had less representation in Congress), once the 14th amendment was ratified the 3/5ths compromise was nullified.

You are conflating the electoral college with Congress. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other except the electors are the sum of our Senators (100) and Representatives (435) + 3 electors for the District of Columbia.

That's what historically (prior to the 14th amendment) been used to ensure that slave states had more power and sway than non-slave states.

Now, I don't disagree with your opinion that what we have today fucking sucks. But I'm going to call bullshit when I see it and when someone espouses that someone in Wyoming has more proportional representation than someone in New York well that's just plain bullshit.

Wyoming has (1) Representative in Congress. (1) Representative for The People.

I wasn't talking down to you. Nice of you to infer intent from a couple of bytes of UTF-8 encoded text.

My reply to you was in response to this statement:

Imagine telling someone that they deserve the same representation in the senate as a couple acres of empty land.

In fact I made a conscious effort not to assume you were talking about the electoral college in case you were meant to say the House (because you used the word "representation").

The Electoral College doesn't represent our votes when we go to the polls, it represents our State's votes. Which is why it's up to our States to choose the electors they want to send.

And being trans has absolutely fuck-all to do with any of this. Jesus. Until you just posted that I had no idea any of you were trans and frankly I could give a shit.

And I'm sorry sister but not everything is about you.

When I said if I had ovaries I'd say the exact same thing it's because I have testicles. I was talking about myself. A statement (and fact) that had fuck-all to do with any of you.
