I just submitted a supportive comment on the University of Chicago Maroon that was censored here: chicagomaroon.com/43767/uncate…

Yes, absolutely.

I'm still letting my kid use the scholarship. Not only are populations not homogeneous, organizations are not, and individuals aren't. The leveraging and underscoring of a self-sense of supremacy infiltrates the entire US culture. Chicago is no exception.

CrowdStrike released its annual threat hunting report showing that we're in a new era of cyberattacks from sophisticated attackers who rely on clever social engineering, AI, and devices outside of IT's purview.

Check out my latest CSO piece for more details and tips on how defenders can better guard against these threats.

It's easy to understand why some programmers love their AI assistants and others loathe them: the former group get to decide how and when they use AI tools, while the latter has AI forced upon them by bosses who hope to fire their colleagues and increase their workload.

Can't even imagine what I'd do in this situation. Even something as comparatively simple & straightforward as desktop publishing (back in the day) I discovered very quickly that if a customer brought in a document for modification, it was nearly always MUCH faster just to reconstitute it from scratch than to try to open the existing file, figure out how it was organized, & try to modify it. Especially if it was made by an amateur. I can't imagine this with actual computer code. >

China is strategically reducing its oil dependence to counter potential disruption by the US. It is heavily investing in renewable energy (wind, solar) and electric vehicles, becoming a global leader in both. This multi-pronged approach aims to secure its energy supply and lessen vulnerability to external pressures.

Clean energy will provide countries with sovereignty along with saving the environment.

I think Tri-Health is a racketeering front.

They continuously bill me for the same things.

I have to keep track of every payment like a beast and once they threaten to send me to collections, I email the receipts, every bill in image with the date paid and every canceled check.

I'm no longer nice about it.

The only words in my email: Stop double billing me.

Next time, maybe I will just write, "Fraud."

Our Healthcare system is broken.

So it is finally time for the tale of Mowis "Patty" Burwic. Sometimes in a Rimworld run I get invested into a particular character that becomes the main character. Patty took on that role for this game.

Early on, the colony was doing horribly. It was about surviving until the gravship could be obtained and there were many complications. One colonist died due to injuries that couldn't be patched up in time. Patty joined during this time, saving the colony with her fast learner trait. Despite being a xenophobe, she quickly became best friends with Jessie.

Jessie was the only person she'd ever fully befriend during her time on the Rim, as some time after Patty joined, Jessie was kidnapped by the Rakkle-led Valentina's Rakkle Incubating Plant pirate faction. Only later would Patty learn through interrogating another raiding group that her friend had been unceremoniously killed. No chance to save her.

And so Patty broke. She delved into advancing her shooting skills, and took a mechlink when the gravship was built. She built more and more mechs along with turrets. She had her entire body filled with cybernetics and bionics. She explored the world to find the mechhive. Once the mechhive was taken, she claimed its power for herself, becoming a queen of sorts to the mechs (thanks to a mod that adds allying the faction to the ending). She used it to destroy the entire faction for revenge. It took a lot of work and time but she finally got revenge for her only true friend she lost that long time ago.

For reference on time, the time since the game started seems to be ~10.5 years, and the real playtime is 55 hours. Odyssey DLC is really fun.

Even though I just finished this run the other day I'm already feeling like I want to start another Rimworld run with some gimmicky idea. Odyssey is a curse, it has single-handedly given me a new fascination with the game. No wonder Vinny "Melpert" Vinesauce immediately started his Odyssey run the same day his Anomaly run was finished, it's just that addicting.
Some part of me wants to do a space station run after claiming a station with life support units for myself, some part of me wants to do a high difficulty commitment run, some part of me wants to do a run where I say screw it and have fun with dev tools to make something cool, it can go on.

Though I still haven't picked up Anomaly for the Ratkin Research Foundation™ that will absolutely not end terribly for all Ratkin involved. That's locked in for what I'll do whenever I pick up Anomaly.

‘Staggering’ brain drain of US climate scientists may signal shift in scientific gravity.

The ‘dreadful’ situation may herald a move in ‘bright young minds’ towards Hong Kong and other parts of Asia, CityU professor says.

Στην Άγρια Δύση του Ελληνικού τα πηγάδια βγάζουν πετρέλαιο - R•U

Researchers have formulated a "second law of entanglement manipulation," an analog to the second law of thermodynamics. They proved that, with the help of an "entanglement battery," entanglement can be manipulated reversibly. This finding offers a new framework for efficiently manipulating quantum resources for future technologies like quantum computing.

MARKET DESTRUCTION!

China has bought a total of $0 dollars of new crop soybeans from the United States.

China is turning to Brazil and other emerging markets for their soybean needs.

American farmers worked for 40 years to develop their China soybean market. Donald Trump has destroyed the market entirely.

The excess soybeans will put downward pressure on a price market that is already low.

Meanwhile, farmers have record high production costs.
