When an #ADHD person says „I forgot“ what we often mean is:

* I remembered 5 times but at the wrong time
* I fully planned to do it but I felt overwhelmed
* I shamed myself for not doing it that I did not do it

Edit: I wrote a neghty post about this and other ADHD symptoms and what causes them

Fascinating contrast. Intense dramatically-lit clutching-chair-arms guy and chilled-out headphones guy. No idea what story could include the two of them but the one on the right looks like me in my cinema seat at the end of "Avengers: Infinity War".

We are looking for an investor who can loan our holding company 237,000 US dollars.

With this money, we will open a farm in Baku, Azerbaijan to produce animal-based food.

We will also make our own animal feed, so our products will be healthier, better quality, and cheaper.

Because we sell quality products for less and have strong advertising, we will sell more worldwide and make big profits.

Why Azerbaijan? Because animal farming makes a lot of money there, but few people do it. That’s why we will earn more by starting in Azerbaijan.

Additionally, by producing our own animal feed, we will be able to sell healthier, higher quality animal products at a lower price.

Since we can sell quality products cheaply and thanks to our strong advertising network, we will be able to sell more internationally and make huge profits.

The reason for establishing the business in Azerbaijan is that animal husbandry is a very profitable business in Azerbaijan, but since there are very few people doing animal husbandry, establishing the farm in Azerbaijan will provide us with more income.

Your profit:

You will lend 237,000 US dollars to our holding company and when 22.03.2026 comes, you will receive your money back as 953,000 US dollars.

Your earnings will be great. When 22.03.2026 comes, you will get your money back as 953.00 US dollars.

You will lend 237,000 US dollars to our holding company and when 22.03.2026 comes, you will receive your money back as 953,000 US dollars.

When 22.03.2026 comes, I will give you back your money in the amount of 953,000 US dollars.

That means you will earn 716,000 US dollars profit in just 9 months.

If you like this project and want to loan us money, message me on WhatsApp or Telegram for more details.

After getting frustrated with Nextcloud being so slow and fiddling with its proxy, I finally decided to just try out Caddy. It looks so simple, there's no way shit just works like that, but hey, I'll give it a shot.

Half an hour later every single one of my services is running in a Caddyfile of like maybe 20 lines.

We'll see if I eat my words in an hour or so when I realize something is fucked up, but in the meantime...why the fuck does anyone even use Nginx?

in reply to Comrade Ferret

I get that it's powerful and you can do some more niche things. And apparently it's faster for very high-traffic services. But it seems like for the large majority of cases, when you just want things to work, you use Caddy. Nextcloud AIO just absolutely would not work period with Nginx and I still don't know why. Maybe someone who knows more about Nginx might offer to lend me a hand.

(4) Facts Will not Save You - by Seva Gunitsky - Hegemon

#science #AI #facts

as Goethe said, every fact is already a theory. That’s why facts cannot save you. “Data” will not save you. There can be no objective story since the very act of assembling facts requires implicit beliefs about what should be emphasized and what should be left out. History is therefore a constant act of reinterpretation and triangulation, which is something that LLMs, as linguistic averaging machines, simply cannot do. E.H. Carr wrote about this sixty years ago: “The belief in a hard core of historical facts existing objectively and independently of the interpretation of the historian is a preposterous fallacy, but one which it is very hard to eradicate.” The facts never speak for themselves; the historian always speaks for them.

@Emmanuel Florac so you're proposing the premise that because an alleged 40% of people, have self perceived, meaningless jobs, that's the result of oppressive tools?

Those people had no choice in their job selection, presumably and they were not assigned their jobs by the state so It's hard to see how one could come to the conclusion that some immaginary tool of oppression is at work.

in reply to Emmanuel Florac

@Carter Braxton no these people are working in meaningless activities known as "bullshit jobs" in private enterprises mostly. Having an army of pawns, even doing stupid, useless things is important to asset the power structure. In case you didn't realise, a private capitalist company is a private structure in the form of a dictatorship (employees have mostly no say in what they do, why the do it, etc).

@prolrage This nonsense it's enough for the Hind Rajab Foundation Who made the arrest possible.

"We do not claim that justice has been served — not yet. But we believe something important has begun. For the first time in Europe, Israeli suspects linked to crimes in Gaza have been subjected to formal arrest and questioning. This would not have been possible without the strength of the law and the will to apply it.
To the victims and survivors in Gaza: we see you, we hear you, and we carry your demands for justice forward."

I have a lot of respect for HRF but again, these 2 were not arrested.

They were brought in for questioning and about 2h later they were let go.

Every European country pretending that they stand for rule of law, have let these monsters come in and go without hinder and in many cases even provided them with police protection.

EU diplomats confirm they won't yet sanction Israel on Gaza.

Last week, EU member states already failed to rally enough support to suspend Israel from the Horizon Europe fund in response to the war in Gaza.

Two of the largest EU countries - Germany and Italy – prefer to “continue dialogue” with Israel, one diplomat said.

Researchers at Harvard Business School and University of Toronto used unique data to quantify the value of open source.

Takeways:

* Supply-side (cost to recreate) is ~$4.15B, but demand-side (value to firms) is $8.8T. Shows massive cost savings & productivity boost from OSS.

* If OSS didn't exist, firms would need to spend an estimated 3.5 times more on software than they currently do. OSS provides a massive, often invisible, productivity boost.

* A tiny fraction of OSS developers create the vast majority of value. Only 5% of developers are responsible for over 96% of the demand-side value

* Firms should not just "free ride" on OSS but actively contribute to the ecosystem, as this is far cheaper than recreating the software themselves.
