Long ago we had provided an alternative to standard openssh with selinux options enabled, which to do we had to provide libselinux and libsepol which are not provided by Arch. At some stage we opted since we had libselinux available as native pkg to enable it in dbus, so you can control the beast better if you choose to run it. Eventually this option through dbus and by using automated/autoconfiguring tools the option crawled into core linux utilities which would throw an error in the absense of libselinux. SO we decided instead of rebuilding everything from scratch, and since selinux is an interesting option to have available, to make it native in our build system.
Then we added a few more packages that you may find useful while studying the material in developing your own selinux configuration files and practice using it.

@cjd they were in 2 different laptops, one of them I was carrying with me a lot. First 4 were HDDs but the last one was an SSD. It was always the ones I had my home directory on.
Did you have smartd running? What did it give you for maximum temperature? I've only lost one or two harddrives in my life and it was because I allowed them to cook.
Regarding the SSD, what is the brand? Only a few companies know how to make HDDs but everyone can make an SSD so there's a lot of junk out there... Anything made in 2020 during China lockdowns is also probably trash, they were taking their QC rejects and sending them out 😱
@cjd that one is known to have a firmware but that causes increased wear (write amplification or sth).
Still, I wonder it the rate at which I have disks die on me could be due to excessive writes. Maybe I use my disks wrong, like keeping unpartitioned soace and only extending my partitions when the filesystem is almost full. Or using thunderbird and not deleting old emails. Or sth.
If anybody ever tortured a harddrive, it would be me. On an SSD I think wear leveling happens at a lower level than partitioning, so that should be no concern.

I don't know what is recommended, I could look it up but so can you. My own personal experience is that 40C is when you want to start worrying, but this is not scientific at all and only an experience of ruining one or two disks a couple of decades ago.

@eliotreyna, well, at least the W11 GUI seems to me an childish Fisher Price design, not customizable. eg, two finger high, no moveable taskbar and the most unuseable Startmenu I ever had seen in any Windows before Luckily there are compassionate devs out ther with apps to fix what not was needed in W10. Not so bad RAM and HD space needed, far from the mencioned 4 GB, it's only the case with all the additional crap, not needed services, trials, telemetries which Windows has by default. My version of W11 use less than 1 GB after gut all the trash it had.

Watching lots of HVAC videos, and I really don’t like how the new systems controls are basically a cheap Android phone stuck to the wall. Some of the systems they’re replacing were 30 years old. The controls look yellowed and dated, but guess what? They still work. You can bet your ass that won’t be true for the new ones.
