Call for International Week of Solidarity with Anarchist Prisoners 2025

We call for actions during Week of Solidarity With Anarchist Prisoners 23 until 30 August 2025!

Against Prison Society, Towards Connection

Standing at the exterior of the prison we are greeted with the stark reality of alienation and separation. A wall, a fence, guard towers, surveillance cameras, concrete boxes and steel cages aimed at keeping the accused and “guilty” separate from the rest of society, concepts of rehabilitation and repentance constructed from ideologies of States in order to hold onto and secure their power, to freeze territories with fixed national identities and to punish whatever falls outside of their notions of legality, progress, outside of their morality and capitalist value. The thing is, once we stand outside the walls of the prison we realize that it is a touchable construct. It is a wall, it is concrete, it is material. Those who keep it functioning are living beings… Yes, prisons isolate us, but they isolate us as much as we let them, as soon as we accept them. The walls become fixed and permanent to those of us on the outside as soon as we forget and accept the separation they impose. Those on the inside of the boxes can’t forget, as it is everyday they are confronted with the harsh reality of life on the inside. As long as states exist, there will be prisons, and we will find ourselves within their walls.

It is in the carrying forth of memory that we continue the struggle and life of comrades who have died before us, we carry the ideas and actions of those separated by cages and concrete, creating continuity and connection in the endless acts of resistance that make up a life in search of freedom. Prisons and the struggles that take place within their walls are a constant contribution to this collective memory of resistance.

Wether in the bowels of totalitarian dictatorships or in the heart of “social democracy” where State Violence has a different flavor, States hold no breath trying to put of the fires of subordination and resistance, where even having ideas that pierce it’s constructs can put you in it’s crosshairs, under it’s at times seemingly all pervasive gaze.

We recognize solidarity in its many forms – from connections and friendships to exchanges of ideas and dialog, to shared moments of attack – our comrades remain not isolated, but continuous breathing parts of our struggles.

In solidarity with those sneaking past the border walls, those on the run, in exile, in the deepest isolation chambers of solitary confinement, those who died in action, the criminalized.

Against all prisons.

We choose a life of tension and insubordination in the search of connection.

You cannot bury the force of life!

Touhou Vote 2025

toho-vote.info/

While the next dream still has another day or so to arrive, other events are happening. The yearly vote is now open! As per usual, 7 characters, 10 tracks, and 5 works can be nominated. Your number one choice gets additional votes, while the rest only get one each. This year's polls go up to the latest of print works and Touhou 20's demo.

youtube.com/watch?v=tiEZQYiHzF… I wanted something good to post with this and I figured that Theme of Curtain Fire Shooters would be perfectly fitting. Also a chance to mention it suddenly hit me what "I wanna be the Shrine Maiden" was in reference to, a one off line from an interview about Touhou 15.

re: Touhou Vote 2025
As for my votes this year, it's always hard to pick just seven of the characters when I love so many of them. I went with what should be obvious choices for me but I can't help feeling like I missed a chance to put someone in. Guess it happens when there's so many characters that we're measuring probably over 200 soon, and that's ignoring nameless side characters and mob characters.

re: Touhou Vote 2025
Another reminder for the day that the Touhou Vote polls are open starting today and ending around the 29th of the month. Get your votes in if for no other reason than to show your love.
Last year's victory went to Reimu, who while always popular, is rarely seen as number one. She often gets sidelined by others who have more immediate and understandable characters.

Resistance Won’t Give Up Arms, Civil War Risk Looms in Lebanon

Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem strongly slammed the Lebanese government’s August 5 decision during a ceremony in Baalbek marking the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, saying it strips Lebanon of its defensive capabilities amid ongoing hostilities and facilitates the killing of Resistance fighters and their families.

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced on August 5 that the Cabinet has formally assigned the Lebanese Army to draft a comprehensive plan aimed at consolidating arms under state control by the end of 2025. The army is expected to submit the plan for Cabinet review no later than August 31.

The decision followed a tense and extended Cabinet meeting held at the presidential palace in Baabda, chaired by President Joseph Aoun. More than three hours of the session were devoted to the highly sensitive agenda item concerning the consolidation of arms under the state’s authority, a topic that continues to fuel deep political divides within the Lebanese government.

Sheikh Qassem described the decision as “dangerous” and a violation of Lebanon’s social cohesion, warning that it “exposes the country to a very serious crisis.”

He accused the government of carrying out “a US-‘Israeli’ scheme to dismantle the resistance, even at the cost of plunging Lebanon into civil war and fueling internal strife.”

“This government is serving the ‘Israeli’ project, knowingly or not,” he declared, addressing officials directly, “If you feel helpless, let us face the enemy ourselves. We don’t need you to engage.”

Furthermore, the Resistance leader stressed that the government’s duty “is not to surrender the country to the enemy or to unchecked American hegemony,” questioning officials, “How can you, as a government, facilitate the killing of your own citizens?”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Qassem also referenced Israeli expansionist ambitions, “Have you heard of Netanyahu’s plan to establish a ‘Greater Israel’? What can you say about this? What are you doing about it?”

Israeli occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “Greater Israel” vision, reiterated recently, claims territorial reach into Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Egypt, constituting an attack on the sovereignty of Arab states and a clear violation of international law.

Do not drag Lebanese army into internal strife

Sheikh Qassem reaffirmed that “the Resistance drew its legitimacy from the blood of the martyrs, not from your [Lebanese government’s] approval,” urging, “Do not drag the Lebanese army into internal strife or stain its honourable record” and maintaining that “its leadership does not wish to go down this path.”

In this context, he held the Lebanese government fully responsible for any internal discord and for failing in its duty to defend Lebanon’s land.

While framed as a technical step, the army’s assignment comes at a time of heightened foreign pressure on Lebanon to address the issue of arms outside state institutions. However, for many Lebanese, particularly within the Resistance camp, any national defense strategy must acknowledge the proven effectiveness of the Resistance in deterring Israeli aggression and preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hezbollah’s chief paid tribute to the Lebanese Army martyrs in Zibqin, saying, “We extend our condolences to the martyrs of the Lebanese army who fell in Zibqin; they are martyrs of duty and truth, and martyrs of the resistance, the army, and the homeland.”

It is worth noting that a number of Lebanese Army soldiers were martyred and others were injured on Saturday when unexploded ordnance from a previous Zionist attack detonated on the outskirts of Majdal Zoun in South Lebanon.

Karbala-like battle to protect arms

The top Resistance figure reiterated that the Resistance “will never surrender our weapons as long as the aggression persists,” invoking the legacy of steadfast struggle exemplified in the Battle of Karbala, where Imam Hussein and his followers resisted oppression despite overwhelming odds. He vowed readiness for a Karbala-like confrontation if necessary, framing the fight as both a moral and spiritual duty, and declared absolute confidence in ultimate victory.

Recalling repeated appeals to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanon and to end the presence of the entity in Lebanon, he said, “We have repeatedly said, stop the aggression and remove ‘Israel’ from Lebanon, and you have our full cooperation during discussions on national and strategic security.”

Sovereignty inseparable from resistance

Sheikh Qassem stressed that “the vast majority of Lebanese stand behind the Resistance and its enduring mission.”

He underscored that Lebanese sovereignty is inseparable from the Resistance, declaring, “True sovereignty exists only when it is fortified by the resistance that liberated our land.”

Hezbollah’s chief said the Resistance has helped the state take control in southern Lebanon, “and for the past eight months, it [the Resistance] has been under attack, yet we have remained patient.”

Over the past eight months, southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and Beirut’s Dahieh suburb have endured relentless attacks, claiming civilian lives and devastating vital infrastructure. The ongoing bombardment has not only inflicted immediate loss of life but has also crippled essential services, leaving communities exposed, displaced, and pushing the social and economic fabric of these regions to the brink of collapse.

Sheikh Qassem hails 2006 victory, affirms Palestine will ultimately prevail

On the achievements of the Resistance and its role in regional struggles, Sheikh Qassem said, “Today we build our lives, our future, and our generations on the principle that every land and every era is [devoted] for victory, giving, sacrifice, and achieving great goals.”

He urged unity among all Lebanese factions, warning that no single group can shoulder the nation’s future alone.

“Let us join forces to build this country; it cannot be constructed by one component in isolation. We must stand together and live with dignity, or Lebanon will not endure if you choose to stand in opposition.”

“Either Lebanon endures and we stand together, or all is lost; and it will be all on you,” Hezbollah’s chief asserted.

Reaffirming Hezbollah’s 2006 victory, he said, “Our victory in July 2006 represented a triumph of will and resistance, marking a defeat for Israel and halting its occupation and settlement ambitions.”

Sheikh Qassem also noted that the 2006 victory deterred the occupation for 17 years.

He expressed gratitude to Iran for its continued support, saying, “We extend our gratitude to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which supported us with funds, weapons, political stances, and martyrs.”

Turning to the Palestinian cause, he reaffirmed its centrality, “Palestine will remain our guiding compass, and genocide will not prevent the Palestinian people from continuing their resistance.”

He affirmed that Palestinian victory is certain, declaring, “Palestine will triumph thanks to all these sacrifices, for they are the rightful owners of the land, the cause, the will, the blood, and the contributions.”

Thank You For Everything, Georges! — International Red Help

The release of Georges Abdallah was decided on July 17, after more than 40 years of detention. And even if we will only be truly relieved when Georges arrives in his native Lebanon, the event compels us to say a few words.

When the campaign for Georges Abdallah’s release was launched over 20 years ago, the various structures of the International Red Help could not have imagined the length of a struggle that would become formative for us, although it began with just a few modest actions aimed simply at making Georges and his cause known.

The mobilization campaign seemed to follow the usual pattern. First spreading within revolutionary circles, it eventually reached broader forces of the reformist and democratic left. This expansion, reflected in hundreds of demonstrations and thousands of initiatives, can be explained by three elements:

  • Firstly, by the obviously political nature of Georges’s detention. We won’t revisit every episode in which the French justice system trampled on all the values, rules, and principles it claims to uphold—starting with the separation of powers—in order to prolong this detention as an expression of the French state’s support and complicity for Zionist and imperialist aggression.
  • Secondly, by those very Zionist and imperialist aggressions, those endless massacres of which the ongoing genocide in Gaza is only the latest example. This string of tragedies constantly reminded us over the years of the legitimacy of the Palestinian resistance to which Georges belongs.
  • Lastly, by Georges’s own resistance—by the way he rejected every form of blackmail for repentance, by the way he endured every hardship of an interminable detention, and by the way he kept alive the historical propositions of the Arab revolutionary left: a free, secular, and democratic Palestine from the river to the sea. Moreover, he has always defended the liberation of Palestine as an integral part of the struggle for a communist and internationalist perspective.

This courage and determination were not only an encouragement to the movement demanding his release. Georges has offered multiple generations of militants a tremendous example of resistance—an active, daily resistance that not only stood firm in its positions but also knew how to connect with the struggles that emerged after his arrest.

Throughout all these years, Georges has nourished and inspired our struggles. So for all of that, with all our heart, thank you Georges Abdallah, thank you and welcome home.

August 26: Global Day of Action – Expose and Oppose GRP’s War of Suppression

Dear friends and progressives around the world!

Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle (FFPS) calls on all solidarity allies to hold militant demonstrations on Tuesday, the 26th of August. We encourage mass rallies to be held at Philippine embassies in each country to condemn the GRP for their war of suppression against the Filipino people, or at other relevant locations drawing broad interest from crowds and media.

For decades the GRP has waged countless violent ‘counterinsurgency’ campaigns against the Filipino people with the support and direction of the US government. Under the current Marcos regime, these campaigns have been expanded and intensified. Far from bringing genuine peace, the Marcos regime seeks a ‘peace’ of the grave, in which the resistance of the exploited and oppressed peoples is crushed.

Against the intensifying war on the people by the GRP, the revolutionary movement under the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) continues to wage the national democratic revolution for national and social liberation. In contrast to the GRP’s fake peace, the NDFP struggles for a just and lasting peace, in which the underlying problems that lead the Filipino people to take up arms are solved. The national democratic revolution is the expression of the Filipino people’s will for genuine change and serves as a legitimate means to achieve it.

Amidst the intensifying repression and efforts to disguise its fascist character by the Marcos regime, we need to also intensify our solidarity efforts in exposing the ugly truth of the GRP’s ‘peace’ and in projecting the righteous revolutionary struggle of the Philippine people.

Please make sure to let us know of your planned actions, spread this call to action far and wide, and to send us photos & videos of your actions for compiling them into a recap video.

Main calls:

“US-Marcos ‘peace’ = war of suppression!”
“Stop the bombings in the Philippines!”
“Dismantle the NTF-ELCAC!”
“Repeal the Anti-Terrorism Law in the Philippines!”
“Support the Filipino people’s struggle for national liberation against US imperialism!”
“US out of the Philippines!”
“No to US-Marcos’ fake peace, support the Philippine revolution!”
“Support the Filipino people’s war for a just and lasting people’s peace!”

pretty similar to shadowboxing I think. its a lot of advancing forward and retreating backwards while in a fencing stance, staying light and bouncy with your footwork the whole time. I think the big giveaway that I'm training specific for fencing is whenever I do super forward body weight lunges and I extend my hand far ahead as though I am thrusting a sword into an imaginary person in front of me.

We are grateful to the public for following the restrictions, where in place, to conserve water in these dry conditions. Simple, everyday choices – such as turning off a tap or deleting old emails – also really helps the collective effort to reduce demand and help preserve the health of our rivers and wildlife.

Conserve water: yes.

Delete emails? Umm…

Please do not strip your infants or toddlers in public. I don't care that they haven't developed a sense of modesty yet, nobody wants to see nude children. If you have to strip them, cover them up with a towel or a blanket.

Also, think about the possibility of a pedophile recording your child behind your back and now with AI they can turn that recording into literal child porn.
