A Rant About Chronic Pain:
I have lived with a disease that causes chronic pain since I was a teenager.
Chronic pain is a real asshole. It isn't just about being in pain, chronic pain and inflammation affects every part of your body. It gives you a continuous stream of cortisol, it makes your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugars higher, so, you're very likely to deal with heart issues, stroke, sleep issues, diabetes, and all manner of metabolic issues. It fucks up your stomach too, nausea, acid reflux, aching guts. Oh, and it's harder to lose and maintain weight too. It's harder to exercise regularly. It raises your anxiety and stress levels, so, now you have to deal with that. Add to that the fun of people who just don't believe you could be hurting that much.
So, let's talk about pain management, if you've been there, you just cringed a little. The first thing you need to understand is that the goal of pain management is not to take away your pain, it is to make it manageable enough for you to function. I will preface this by saying I am incredibly thankful for modern medicine, I don't think I'd be alive without it, and I've been lucky to have decent doctors and to also be able to afford the care I've needed at least for 50% of my life. Sometimes you know pain is temporary, you have an end in sight, but for many people with chronic pain this isn't the reality. For many people, they know this will only get worse. Now imagine every time you ask for help it's met with suspicion, and I get it, pain meds come with an avalanche of their own side effects and health issues. I've stayed in a lot of pain so many times, because I'm very afraid of being an addict. There is a level of pain where you stop caring, and you just need it to stop.
So, now you tell someone who has never dealt with this what you're dealing with, and you get to hear all their ideas. These people mean well, they really do, but it's very hard to smile and say thanks when someone suggests maybe you should try their anti-inflammatory diet, acupuncture, massage, eastern medicine, scam vitamins, essential oils, exercise routine, fucking meditation, ect. If I could meditate my way out of my insides being fucked up, I would, and believe me I've tried, I still try. I've tried and tried everything. And let's not ignore the best part of this kind if advice, it's all usually really fucking expensive and time consuming. Regular massage does actually help with my pain management, but pain meds cost me $5 and massage is $50. Juicing 40 pounds of fruit and vegetables a week, costs more than my utilities. You think, I didn't try eating low carb, higher protein, low fodmaps, gluten free? I certainly have.
The point in this long rambling post is to remember, People who mention they are taking pain meds or are in pain management aren't usually doing this to get high, they are doing it to feel normal, to feel functional, to try to get half a night of uninterrupted sleep, and even when it's working like it's supposed to they are probably still in a little bit of pain.
But the disc isn’t even my lifelong pain- my shoulder since an accident in my 20s.
I’m sad to read these stories but thank you because it can get lonely 🩷

When to Replace Hydraulic Seals & Cylinders in P&H Cranes
P&H cranes rely on their hydraulic systems to power heavy lifting, boom adjustments, and winch operations. The seals and cylinders in these systems are critical, but wear is inevitable. Knowing when to replace them with quality P&H crane parts ensures safety, performance, and minimal downtime.
The Role of Hydraulic Seals
Seals, often made of rubber or polyurethane, are small but vital components. They maintain pressure within the hydraulic cylinder, prevent fluid leaks, and keep out contaminants like dirt or water. A failing seal can lead to oil loss, increased friction, and damage to the cylinder’s rod or barrel, turning a minor issue into a major repair.
Spotting Seal Failure
Seal issues often provide early warning signs, allowing technicians to act before a breakdown. During inspections, watch for:
- Oil residue on the cylinder rod after movement, indicating a worn seal.
- Leaks or puddles under the crane after idle periods.
- Jerky cylinder motion due to air or pressure loss.
- Rapid pressure drops when the crane is not in use.
- Contaminated fluid, appearing cloudy (water) or gritty (debris), signaling seal failure.
Unusual noises, like knocking or chattering during cylinder operation, can also indicate seal problems.
When Cylinders Need Replacement
Cylinders endure significant stress from heavy loads, harsh environments, or improper use. A damaged cylinder can quickly ruin new seals. Common issues include:
- Bent rods from off-center lifting or overloading.
- Corrosion in the barrel from exposure to moisture or chemicals.
- Scoring from debris bypassing a worn seal.
- Damaged threads or ports from improper maintenance.
Minor damage may be repairable, but severe wear often requires replacement. A trusted crane parts supplier can provide authentic P&H crane parts to restore the system’s performance.
Maintenance and Inspection Schedule
Wear varies based on the crane’s workload and environment. A machine in a rugged setting, like a steel yard, needs more frequent checks than one in a controlled facility. Suggested intervals include:
- Inspect seals every 1,000 hours for leaks or wear.
- Check cylinders every 2,000 hours for rod and barrel condition.
- Replace seals during any cylinder maintenance, as they lose elasticity over time.
- Plan cylinder rebuilds or replacements every 5,000–7,000 hours, depending on usage.
Keeping detailed maintenance logs helps owners anticipate needs and avoid unexpected failures.
Tips to Extend Component Life
Technicians can adopt practices to prolong seal and cylinder life:
- Maintain clean hydraulic fluid with regular filter changes and oil testing.
- Avoid side loading by ensuring proper alignment of booms and attachments.
- Warm up the system in cold weather to protect seals and oil flow.
- Address small leaks promptly to prevent escalation.
These habits reduce wear and maintenance costs.
Sourcing Quality Parts
Many P&H cranes, still operational decades after production, require precise components. A specialized crane parts supplier can provide seal kits, rods, or full cylinders tailored to your P&H model. Using genuine P&H crane parts ensures compatibility and durability, avoiding issues with generic substitutes.
Cost and Downtime Considerations
Proactive maintenance is cost-effective. A seal kit, costing a few hundred dollars, is far cheaper than a cylinder replacement, which can run thousands. Downtime from hydraulic failure can also disrupt entire projects, making early intervention critical.
Conclusion
Hydraulic seals and cylinders are essential for P&H crane performance. Regular inspections, timely replacements, and quality parts keep operations running smoothly. Partnering with a crane parts supplier specializing in P&H crane parts ensures repairs are done right, minimizing costs and downtime.

Yemen fires at Tel Aviv airport with hypersonic missile, operations suspended
In a televised statement on Sunday, Yemeni military spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree confirmed that the strike was carried out with a hypersonic missile dubbed “Palestine-2.”
“The operation successfully achieved its objective,” Saree said, adding that the attack triggered air raid sirens, disrupted flights, and “halted airport activity” in the occupied territories.
The Yemeni spokesman said the strike was part of a wider campaign in response to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, now in its 22nd month, and in retaliation for Israeli air raids on Yemen.

I don't know why Microsoft doesn't just sell a stripped down/debloated privacy respecting version. People would actually give them money for it.

Also, many people limit the telemetry to the point where it's probably not valuable. I think they have debloated government versions of it, and of course the versions meant for kiosks and stuff.
