That they didn't refrain, may be Police over-reach, perhaps reflects pressure from the Home Office or maybe shows some Police forces do not understand the Terrorism Act.

When I was a kid, I was excited by the concept of Sharp Zaurus, a handheld device that could run Linux. This was the early 2000s, the time when we were porting KDE2 to ~~FreeBSD~~ various embedded devices. Zaurus was so amazing that I told my dad to get one when he was looking for a PDA.

It wasn’t a popular device, restricted to the Japanese market, but it was popular enough to even have a novel written about it. A dystopian novel where personal security was nonexistent, and everyone carried a Zaurus-like device for basic necessities like making secure payments.

I suddenly remembered that story when I typed `apk add elixir` on my iPhone. The novel turned out to become a true story. Our phones run VMs that run VMs that run VMs. We have a trusted Secure Enclave in our pocket, in a device that will exchange your biometrics for a one-time credit card payment number. Back when I was a kid learning Erlang, the whole concept of having it easily accessible in a REPL of my phone was fiction. Now, it’s just a thing.

I don't know why but I never looked at the illumos based operating systems. I think I will change that and try out either OpenIndiana or SmartOS and compare them with Linux and BSD.

Areas I want to compare:
- Availability of software
- Simplicity of system management
- General system usage
- Security and Storage features

Are there any illumos users or admins out there with an idea on which things I should try out?

Cats knew that computers would lead to our downfall from the start and tried to warn us. They sat on the keyboards so we couldn't talk to the machine, they whacked the mouse out of our hands, they sat on PC base units to jam up the equipment with their shed fur. But we didn't listen and now here we are, wondering if the computers are going to destroy everything. Cats know computers can't open doors and cans of food for them otherwise I don't think they'd care so much.

671 jours et 670 nuits d’un génocide sans fin, en cours, sans rappeler les milliers de victimes des nombreux massacres et autres atrocités commises par Israël, les centaines de milliers d’expulsés et déplacés, les nombreux villages et villes rasés ou « hébraïsés », depuis 1948. Si de tels chiffres, si un tel effarant terme, « en cours », ne suffisent pas pour, au moins, rigoureusement et vigoureusement contraindre l’État sioniste, pour, au moins, arrêter sans plus tergiverser tout échange commercial avec, pour, au moins, appliquer un total et définitif embargo sur toute arme et autre technologie de pointe, si cela ne suffit pas, il n’y a plus alors qu’à décréter que cet État est au-dessus de toute règle, de toute loi, de toute convention, de toute assemblée, de tout tracé frontalier, le décréter OFFICIELLEMENT, le graver tel un définitif commandement, qu’il s’agit là d’un « État Élu », le seul qui soit, au-dessus de tout et de tous donc, au-delà même, et au diable tout autre récit, qu’il soit tout autant ancestral, mythique, religieux, ou encore profane. Au diable tout imaginaire tant qu’à faire. Et cessons de compter, puisque précisément nous ne comptons pas, n’avons jamais compté, d’un envahisseur à l’autre, d’un colon à l’autre, d’un despote à l’autre.

On the 24th day of the trial, August 13, 2025, Daniela Klette read a statement, an excerpt of which we reproduce below (see in full here). At the same time, a rally was held near the court in support of the former RAF member who has lived in hiding for 30 years.

[…] Since my arrest, the police and prosecutor’s office have fuelled the myth that we are dangerous to society, unscrupulous and ready to kill, with false allegations, such as the alleged discovery of explosives in my apartment – which they have never denied, although no explosives were found.

By insinuating that we were particularly dangerous, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office has created a militarized judicial framework.

The aim here is to revive and reactivate the memories and negative images of previous trials against RAF activists. This was already evident enough in Celle and is further underlined here in Verden-Eitze by the Rambow-like transport and the heightened security measures.

Even if the court wants to present itself as apolitical, it is the political context that determines this trial: the hostile image of the RAF and the enormity of having escaped the grip of the state for more than 30 years constitute the framework. […]
