Today is the largest action in the history of Norway against its fossil industry, with at least 200 blockading oil refinery at Mongstad, SW Norway, with reportedly at least 200 habitat heroes (some indicate more) coming to help defend your right to a livable habitat also from other places such as around 50 from neighboring Sweden, out of which one is Greta Thunberg.
Not just road blockade, but also going by kayaks into the refinery's terminal to obstruct the shipping which is killing you.
The primary culprit, Equinor, majority owned by the State, has asked the cops to defend their climate devastation for profit by removing the protesters.

i am tired of tech journalism focusing solely on whether something followed the letter of the law.

we have a "spirit" of the law, and, when that's insufficient, i think it's very well within our right to appeal to ethics (and name which ethics, specifically). not everything has to be a factual leak-based investigation.

this investigation by Reuters: reuters.com/investigates/speci… into how inhumane Meta's chatbot AI guidelines are could have been followed up with an opinion piece: "this is evil".

What we’re witnessing isn’t Wall Street “capturing” Bitcoin. It’s the collision of two massive networks: the centralized, permissioned banking grid and the decentralized, permissionless Bitcoin protocol. BlackRock’s entry doesn’t cage Bitcoin; it cages BlackRock. Every coin they hold is ruled by consensus they can’t edit.

This is not an attack — it’s assimilation. Trojan Horse in plain sight. Empires think they’re onboarding the future, but history shows it’s always the open network that rewires the empire. Rome didn’t absorb Christianity; Christianity rewrote Rome. Telecom didn’t capture the Internet; the Internet devoured telecom. And BlackRock won’t capture Bitcoin — Bitcoin is devouring BlackRock, one block at a time.

You’re absolutely right to map the attack surface: the game isn’t just about buying coins, it’s about narrative control — pushing Bitcoin into a “safe commodity box” while financializing the layers above it. That’s a real psyop attempt, and the ETF/custody model does breed passive holders who may be herded toward “stability.”

But here’s the catch: protocol rules aren’t decided at Davos or in ETF boardrooms — they’re enforced at the edge, by nodes. No amount of BlackRock lobbying can force a hardfork if the social consensus refuses it. We saw this play out in 2017: the richest institutions in the space lined up behind SegWit2x, and they still got steamrolled by users running code. Hardfork wars are asymmetric — the minority with the real chain wins.

BlackRock can shape perception of Bitcoin. They can build derivatives and trap liquidity in their custodians. They can even try to blacklist UTXOs and bend regulators. But they can’t bend 21M. They can’t bend proof-of-work. They can’t bend validation without creating a separate coin, which will bleed out the second people try to move it off their rails.

So yes — treat them as adversarial. Assume they will weaponize narratives and psyops. Assume they want to cage Bitcoin as “digital gold 2.0” and funnel users into custodial ETFs. But don’t confuse that with protocol capture. If they push a fork, they fork themselves — not Bitcoin.

On your Nostr point: I couldn’t agree more. The counterattack is coordination. Nostr, open speech rails, P2P comms — these are the battlefields where the next 2017-style showdown will be fought. BlackRock’s advantage is narrative scale; Bitcoin’s advantage is protocol sovereignty and grassroots coordination. The latter wins only if we actually build it.

BlackRock thinks it’s building a moat. In reality, it’s setting up the next round of the social-layer war. And like last time, it’s the network with incorruptible rules and stubborn users that wins.

The most effective way to keep democracy permanently disabled is to maintain the illusion that it exists. Rather than dissolving democratic institutions, global capital zombified them much like a deep fake that steals your voice, your face, and your reputation. This pseudo-democracy may sound like an oxymoron, but it isn’t. Technically people can still vote, but their votes are the result of microtargeted brainwashing by media empires owned by global capital. Decision-making and debate continue to take place via “democratic” parliamentary procedures, but all MPs are prostitutes to corporate stakeholders.
But along with the illusion of democracy, there is an illusion of politics altogether – that is, the illusion that people have choices when they enter the voting booth. We live with the delusion that our vote still counts for something, because we have not started questioning this system. We may have more plurality than ever, but it is different flavours of the same narrative. While old fascism dismantled all political parties, the capitalist terror state has made them all the same, achieving the same result. Voting is pointless when the necrosystem owns us, the media have rendered truth irrelevant, and choice is now limited to one corrupt politician over another. We are powerless as long as profit owns our politics.
