YES. My hosting setup is a NetBSD/xen box on @aaisp broadband with a static IP. I spent a few thousand pounds building it, maybe £200 every few years when something wants replacing, a few £10s a month on comnectivity, something negligible on power (we have solar anyway...) and when I worked out what my disk/bandwidth/cpu usage would cost me in EC2 it was £thousands a month!

Wow, that's shit. I've only had to invoke the threat of a chargeback a few times over the years, and in all cases, that got things resolved promptly. Never had a vendor go nuclear on me for that.
