I'm with the woman in green here.

And if a candidate is progressive you do not want them on a national Democrat ticket. They will get clobbered. Run them on congressional seat tickets where they have a chance of winning and doing some real good. AOC is a great example. Stop talking about her as a national ticket possibility. The only way she would have a chance there is if she changed significantly in ways we would dislike. I hope she stays where she is and continues as she is doing.

And besides, the Democrats do in fact work for many progressive measures that are vehemently opposed by the Republicans. There actually is a huge divide between the efforts of the two major parties.

I just asked my local AI to list some of the accomplishments during the Biden administration. Here is some of what I got. Compare this to what's happening now and tell me about how the GOP and the Democrats are indistinguishable.

The administration passed major legislative initiatives, including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a $1.2 trillion investment in transportation, clean water, high-speed internet, and clean energy.
As of early 2025, nearly $600 billion in funding had been announced, supporting over 72,000 projects such as repairs to more than 200,000 miles of roads and 12,000 bridges, the replacement of nearly 500,000 lead pipes, and investments in rail, ports, and airports.

The CHIPS and Science Act aimed to strengthen domestic semiconductor manufacturing and U.S. leadership in science and technology, reducing reliance on foreign supply chains.
Additionally, the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) represented the largest national investment in combating climate change, allocating hundreds of billions in tax credits for clean energy and rebates for electric vehicles, solar panels, and energy-efficient appliances.
The IRA also extended Affordable Care Act subsidies through 2025, benefiting millions of enrollees.

On healthcare, the IRA lowered prescription drug costs for Medicare recipients, including a $35 monthly cap on insulin and a $2,000 annual cap on out-of-pocket drug spending starting in 2025.
The law also enables Medicare to negotiate prices for high-cost drugs beginning in 2026.

The administration advanced labor rights, being described as the most pro-union in history.
President Biden became the first sitting president to walk a picket line during the 2023 UAW strike.
His administration protected approximately 2 million workers’ pensions through the Butch Lewis Act and expanded overtime eligibility to millions of workers.
Federal contracting opportunities for small businesses reached a record $178.6 billion, with significant growth in Black, Latino, and women-owned businesses.

Other accomplishments include signing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant federal gun safety legislation in decades, which enhanced background checks and funded mental health and violence prevention programs.
The law also included $10 billion for mental healthcare, the largest such investment in U.S. history.
The Respect for Marriage Act was enacted to protect same-sex and interracial marriages, and President Biden appointed Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to the Supreme Court.

The administration also prioritized racial equity, diversity in judicial appointments, and student debt relief, with approximately $127 billion in loan forgiveness approved across multiple rounds.
It reformed the student loan system through initiatives like the SAVE plan, making repayment more manageable for borrowers.
Additionally, the Postal Service Reform Act was signed to stabilize mail delivery, and a corporate minimum tax was implemented to ensure large companies pay a fair share.

Cody, this is not the DC we know, love. I worked for much of my day job within one or two blocks of the #whitehouse before and after 9/11. Changes hit us hard thereafter but we have never experienced this level of open warfare against out city, her citizens and those who work and visit here. It is shameful - actually there no adequate words or phrases for it. Please stay safe and may your family and neighbors be safe. Take care of one another and your community. We will prevail - w bikes!

@heretical_i It's truly telling how, in all these quotes and videos, they only care about the Israeli hostages and not, you know, the tens of thousands of butchered civilians. It's not "stop the suffering" or "end the embargos", it is very specifically "bring them home".

The unfortunate thing is that Israel is largely united behind their hatred of Palestinians. As soon as the hostages are returned, these same people will be clamouring for the genocide to reignite. Their only problem is with the fact that neither Trump nor Netanyahu particularly care about the hostages, only the expansion of Israel to include the entirety of Palestine and beyond.

Fuck it. I'm just going to buy a used Windows laptop to compile a Windows port of my game.

Though ideally, I would like to use something either with Windows 7, 8, or maybe even 10 (just to know that it works on older versions of Windows), but every used laptop I come across has Windows 11 on it. Though this is to be expected when Microsoft made upgrading to the next Windows free.

When given the opportunity, I believe the SCOTUS majority refused to cite ANY behavior by a POTUS that they would call illegal, EVEN the assassination of political rivals. Did I get that wrong?

If I am correct (above) then SCOTUS DID grant Trump something akin to royal prerogatives.

But I know almost nothing about the law and would benefit from your corrections of my misunderstandings.

Anyone else lose majority of their Bluez codecs after upgrading?

Previously on Debian 12 I followed a guide to install the AAC audio codec for my Air Pods yet after upgrading to Debian 13 I seem to have lost the codec as I can no longer select them in KDE sound settings leaving only A2DP/SBC and A2DP/SBC-XQ, now I’m a bit at a lost as I remember all I had to do was put a aac.so file into /usr/lib/x86\_64-linux-gnu/spa-0.2/bluez5/

Bluez5 directory list:
- libspa-codec-bluez5-sbc.so
- libspa-codec-bluez5-opus-g.so
- libspa-codec-bluez5-opus.so
- libspa-codec-bluez5-ldac.so
- libspa-codec-bluez5-lc3.so
- libspa-codec-bluez5-g722.so
- libspa-codec-bluez5-faststream.so
- libspa-codec-bluez5-aptx.so
- libspa-codec-bluez5-aac.so
- libspa-bluez5.so

Anyone here by chance know a solution to this?

Title misleading: you did not lose "the" AAC codec after upgrading.

How is the title misleading? The AAC codec had no issues working on Bookworm but not on Trixie ie I lost the ability to use it.

You're asking for advice regarding a custom solution that stopped working after the upgrade.

Debian does not package the AAC codec due to licensing issues hence why we’re forced to find these “custom” solutions.

in reply to A_norny_mousse

Not true. I'm listening to AAC encoded music right now. No extra repositories were even required.

Interesting, going over the documentation from the Debian Wiki they even say it’s not distributed in their repo’s?

The AAC codec is unavailable in Debian 12 bookworm.

In the case of PipeWire its support (see the 1021370 request) requires the non-free libfdk-aac2 package. A request to provide free version of the package was declined due to possible licensing and patent issues (see 981285). The only workaround is to build the AAC Bluetooth plugin from sources.

PulseAudio-16 (Debian 12 bookworm) does not support AAC. Despite necessary patches from the gstreamer merge request !1172 are applied to gstreamer1.0-fdkaac, there are pending changes in the PulseAudio Bluetooth plugin, see the upstream merge request !473.

I couldn’t find instructions from Bluez to install the source and I didnt want to risk breaking my current install by just guessing hence why I went with the solution posted on Reddit.
