I think everyone at Nintendo and their affiliated studios must have binge-watched “Made in Abyss” during a job retreat in the last few years… because from Pokémon SV to DK Bananza (and maybe even Zelda TotK), all of these games feature some kind of subterranean, otherworldly exploration The only thing these games are missing is copious amounts of loli guro but the new DK at least has a loli, so there’s that!

That said I'll admit that every 50 years or so you might get an individual who could make it happen in the general election, viz. Bernie. As we saw there are so many obstacles to a successful run that even that rare person is unlikely to reach the finish line.
And if a candidate is progressive you do not want them on a national Democrat ticket. They will get clobbered. Run them on congressional seat tickets where they have a chance of winning and doing some real good. AOC is a great example. Stop talking about her as a national ticket possibility. The only way she would have a chance there is if she changed significantly in ways we would dislike. I hope she stays where she is and continues as she is doing.
And besides, the Democrats do in fact work for many progressive measures that are vehemently opposed by the Republicans. There actually is a huge divide between the efforts of the two major parties.
