A former US Space Force sergeant has been sentenced to more than five decades in prison for fatally shooting a 14-year-old boy and wounding another teen during a botched carjacking outside his Colorado home.

According to CBS News Colorado, Orest Schur, 29, confronted two teenagers dressed in black who were attempting to break into his Hyundai Elantra outside his Aurora home in 2023. Prosecutors said Schur, then 27, retrieved a pistol and chased the suspects after they fled in another vehicle.

As he chased them, Schur fired 11 rounds, striking both teens, and their getaway car crashed into a backyard fence four blocks away from Schur’s home.
Fourteen-year-old Xavier Kirk was shot in the head and back and died at a hospital [the wurl is a bettah place]. His 13-year-old accomplice, who was driving the car, was shot in the back but survived after reaching a relative’s home and was taken to a hospital. Investigators found no evidence that either teen was armed.

Schur was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder. He was convicted in June of second-degree murder and second-degree attempted murder and faced a maximum sentence of 80 years in jail.

Last week, Judge Caryn Datz sentenced him to 54 years in prison. “This was vigilante violence at its worst, and now a young man is dead,” said Adams and Broomfield Counties District Attorney Brian Mason.

Globalisation is built upon money laundering and theft ! Who would have tought !

The continued globalization of finances has generated an ever-larger array of methods for making criminal earnings appear legitimate. The global regime to control money laundering has become more sophisticated and comprehensive, (i.e., expensive and intrusive). There is no evidence that money laundering is declining or becoming more difficult or expensive. The system’s failure has many sources. Nations which pushed for its creation and development have been unwilling to implement critical elements. Major banks have repeatedly failed to meet their obligations, suggesting either insufficient commitment or a lack of the necessary skills and systems to comply. Regulatory oversight has been inadequate. There is, however, evidence that the system aids enforcement of laws against criminal enterprises. Despite the consensus that the system works poorly, there is almost no discussion of substantial reforms.

I want liberals to understand that the days when they could shame or bully people into voting for their bad political party's bad candidates have passed into the dust of history.

I will never cast a vote for someone I deem morally unfit for office. I will never cast a vote for someone who displays cruelty, no matter how expedient that cruelty may be. I will never cast a vote for a quisling who acts like fascism doesn't exist, or a collaborator who acts like fascism doesn't seem so bad.

I am not sure if it's launched on every platform yet, but I've been able to watch some stuff on both my phone and my computer this morning. I'd say it's worth checking out if you're conservative and like watching #FoxNews live rather than clips on #X or #YouTube!

Israel called up an additional 60,000 reservists yesterday after approving a military offensive to capture and occupy Gaza City, a Hamas stronghold where hundreds of thousands of people are sheltering. Get lots of free boxes:

Find a small to medium sized business and ask for their boxes. In NC, ABC stores have a designated free box pile - the boxes for glass bottles are super strong and a great size. Plus the dividers are already there for packing glasses.

Also check craigslist and NextDoor.

You'll want to start collecting about a month before the move, but you can get more than enough boxes without paying a dime.

A lot of dollar stores will let you grab a stack off their flattened box cart. They usually pay for someone to haul them, so giving away boxes saves them a buck or two. The problem is that a lot of the boxes are very thin cardboard and not sturdy at all. But good for putting things in a small box to put in a larger box, like food items.

BTW, the best day for boxes from the liquor store is Monday, after the weekend restock.

Website has crashed, doesn't work on Nvidia Shield, not available in the Samsung TV app store, can't "Cast" it to anything, but it works on a phone.

Fox, I suggest that next time you hire someone who knows what they're doing and properly test your product first. Rushing this out before college and pro football season is a mistake.

Time for a #TipOfTheDay

Forget bags, string, and tape. When it comes time to pack for your move, pick up a roll of packing tape, 15" wide or so.

Wife's jewelry box? Wrap it and the drawers will stay closed. Rolled up rugs? Wrapped and stacked. Tableware? Spoons wrapped, forks wrapped.

PC cables? Wrap the coiled cables, then use wrap to attach them to the PC.

At the other end, just cut the wrap off everything with a good pair of scissors. No tape residue, no sticky tape balls.

Clarification for those that only read popular headlines. The EU Radio Lockdown Directive does not in any way specify that hardware makers should lock down their bootloaders. On the contrary, it specifically points out it should not be used as an excuse to do just that.

The baseband (radio) part of a mobile phone is protected by other means than the bootloader for the general OS, and has so been for many years.

Alors que le Royaume-Uni renationalise son réseau ferroviaire après l'échec cuisant de sa privatisation dans les années 1990, la France, sous l'impulsion de l'Union européenne, ouvre ses trains de passagers à la concurrence. Cette libéralisation initiée en 2020 soulève des questions cruciales sur la gestion et le financement des infrastructures. Avec des opérateurs privés réticents à investir, le modèle économique fragile de la SNCF basé sur un équilibre entre lignes rentables et non rentables se trouve menacé. Le risque est de laisser les infrastructures et les lignes déficitaires à la charge du contribuable, pendant que les lignes bénéficiaires viennent remplir le portefeuille du secteur privé sans que le contribuable consommateur y gagne.

Pour SNCF Réseau, l’arrivée de nouveaux clients sur ses lignes est donc à priori une opportunité. Sauf que là encore, dans la réalité, les concurrents de la SNCF Voyageurs ne contribuent pas beaucoup à la modernisation du réseau. Ainsi, pour amadouer la concurrence italienne, la France offre sur les trois années à venir une aide de 30 millions d'euros à l'entreprise Trenitalia sur la ligne Paris-Marseille qui a ouvert en juin 2025. La compagnie italienne avait déjà reçu 50 millions d'euros en 2022 lorsqu'elle s’était lancée sur la ligne Paris-Lyon en 2021.

Trenitalia peut donc financer en partie sa politique marketing agressive grâce à l’argent public des contribuables français… et proposer des billets moins chers que ceux de la SNCF Voyageurs, elle aussi financée par les mêmes contribuables.

Autrement dit, pour se soumettre aux directives européennes et donc à la loi du marché libre et non faussé, on fausse le marché en subventionnant avec de l’argent public l'installation d’entreprises concurrentes à nos entreprises publiques…

C’est une séquence du sommet à Washington qui est passée inaperçue. A tous ceux qui se posaient la question de savoir ce que Ursula Von der Leyen faisait là alors que l’Union européenne n’a pas compétence sur les questions de défense et d’armement, Donald Trump a fourni la réponse. Lapidaire et brutale. Passée la séquence introductive servie au médias et la séance photo, il a gentiment été fait savoir à la présidente de la Commission européenne quelle était la suite de son programme : la porte de sortie.

Cette séquence, c’est le média allemand Apollon News qui la révèle, sur la base d’une déclaration du vice-président du Bundestag (le parlement allemand), Omid Nouripour, dans l'émission"Frühstart" de n-tv, la chaîne de télévision allemande d'information en continu, filiale du groupe RTL.
