I knew a restauranteur in Mississippi who went to the Buffalo Trace distillery and personally selected and paid for a barrel of Pappy van Winkle to be bottled and exclusively sold at his restaurants. In MS, all liquor goes through a central, state-run warehouse. When the cases of Pappy arrived, the state parceled them out amongst the liquor stores around the state and distributed them, instead of sending them to his restaurants.
