I said it wasn't ready, because it's not. Right now working on the network code: previous version was very speedy but would occasionally DDoS itself (this is the type of bug P2P code can get you). This version won't, but it's all queues and accounting for blocks and so far in this codebase, every time I make a queue, I wish I hadn't and I end up simplifying it, so we'll see when it plays out.

I don't think working a little slow makes someone a fed, but I'm basically not invested in whether or not people think I'm a fed. See the code when it's out. If it leaks something, either it's intentional or it's a bug: see if I fix it (bug) or not (fed). (But fuck's sake, I can already see the "WHY HAVEN'T YOU FIXED THE BUG YET" notification flood.) If I were a fed, I wouldn't have interfered with that UU scraper (anyone with bsondump can see if their instance was affected: media.freespeechextremist.com/… ), because getting time on a university network means some institutional support, I wouldn't have participated in the thread about the MIT scraper (Drand). I think if I were a fed or a CI, some of the people around me would have been arrested by now, I probably wouldn't have posted screenshits of email from the FBI or detailed stuff that I found out but that was, as far as I know, not public, or showing people the NSF leak and all the stuff the German feds are up to.

There's no way to prove that I'm not, though, and I do not want to: I think it is a mistake to trust admins on this network, including me. Part of that is good advice, but part of that is selfish: no one can ask me what I don't know and I can't hand over anything I don't have, so if I discourage people from trusting me, I don't end up getting any pressure from the feds to tell them anything, because I can't. It means I'm less of a target as well. Treat anyone like they could be a fed, because there is no telling who has a job or kids or whatever that they don't wanna lose by landing in federal custody, there is no telling who could be flipped. Or look at the kolektiva.social deal: even if you take everything at face value, the feds got that instance's entire DB in connection with an unrelated case. Chudbuds is gone because their admin fucked up and got everything leaked, Poast/Baest got compromised by a token getting exfiltrated, then really briefly Cloudfed was leaking graf's auth token to the world. You might trust someone and they might be trustworthy, but they can also fuck up, or not even fuck up and just run into a bug like the auth token thing or a trusted third-party turning out to be untrustworthy, and then you have accidentally and involuntarily *become* an informant. If I have said anything here, I have said this, and I keep saying this, and I shoved it into the top of the NoIncomingDeletes MRF ( git.freespeechextremist.com/gi… ): you should not trust anyone.

As far as the apotheosis, that completed: it was importing the FSE DB (and then the Baest DB) into Revolver. It's still there: the import completed with one minor bug, and the block format hasn't changed since I first wrote it, and if anything actually does change in a way that breaks anything on-disk (which I'd notice), all the code has been written on Plan 9, so I can type `9fs dump`, pick a day, and pull a compiled binary for Linux (statically linked, x86-64 or ARM Linux, x86-64 Plan 9, have done very little testing on 32-bit Linux) out from the filesystem history. There isn't much to put there, maybe the network code running once it's fixed (at present, I wiped the peer list from all the live nodes until that stuff is fixed), but a part of the issue is deployment for now.

I should probably go back to updating the status page, since the entire point was to have a thing I could send people a link to instead of answering what's going on repeatedly. Yesterday was kind of fucked (not related to fedi, just busy morning and cat was retarded from mid-afternoon to just before midnight, seems to have only minor injuries, may or may not have gotten laid) but in general there is way less chaos nowadays (but also way less money until I manage to land some new work, and that has a tendency to create some chaos, but in general things are plugging along).

i wasn't aware of how the development process was going. i thought that you had finished developing Revolver (enough for a 1.0 release, anyway) and the apotheosis was the VERY LAST thing to do before Revolver would be completely functional. i didn't know the apotheosis had completed. i thought it had been interrupted when you moved and never continued based on what i had seen on the apotheosis page i had been watching for updates, which was the same then as it is currently. it's REALLY not clear on there that the apotheosis was successful. it genuinely sounds like it is under maintenance: "If you are seeing this, something is broken."

so yeah, it looked like you had finished Revolver: The Future of Secure Fedi, started to deploy it, had a "problem" come up, then just never got back to it while saying "i'LL gEt To iT eVeNtUaLLy!" until everybody forgets about it. which imo is fed-like behavior.
