Why the clash between Brazil’s Supreme Court and Trump is an unprecedented crisis strategic-culture.su/news/2025…

I just learned from @lopalasi about how Leibniz discussed calculus while corresponding with his benefactor. She shared that in a letter in 1673, he wrote that his machine was meant to substitute human calculus/thinking "in accounting, measurement, fortification, shipping, indeed all of mathematics & mechanics, as well as commerce & finance, reducing human labor by half & saving on the unnecessary number of people required for these tasks & on many wages."

Talk about how funding shapes science.

If it were just you, it might not be a problem. It's a whole system with every taxpayer in it. This Q the AI-driven fraudsters pay a little, and next year-ish they monitor for, or just file for big refunds and sluice a few thousand of those to, say, an expertly masked Russian crypto.

It's not really _that_ your gov't data is out there, it's the myriad of possibilities of its uses.

You can't stop the music - ANU School of Music students threaten legal action

The students outlined several concerns, including a potential breach of Federal legislation, “misleading and deceptive conduct” under Australian Consumer Law, and questions about how grant and trust money has been treated.

Bert: Ernie, you said when people die, some part of them comes back?

Ernie: That's right, Bert! It's called rebirth

Bert: But if someone's gone, how can they come back?

Ernie: Here, Bert. Watch. See the pond over there?

(Ernie tosses a pebble into the pond. A wave ripples out)

Bert: Okay, so far that's just a wave

Ernie: Now watch this.
(He tosses a second pebble just after the first, near where the first wave ended. A second wave starts, catching the momentum of the first)

Ernie: See, Bert? The second wave isn't the first wave. But it wouldn't be here without it. the energy from the first one helped make the second one happen

Bert:So you're saying when someone dies, it's like their wave ends, but it helps another wave begin?

Ernie: That's right, Bert! the form changes, but the energy keeps going. Thoughts, feelings, kindnesses, can roll on and help make something new

Bert: Even if we don't remember?

Ernie: Even then. you don't have to remember a wave to be made from it

Bert:What happens if no one throws any more pebbles?

Ernie: Then the pond rests, Bert. The waves settle. But the pond is still there, always ready. Sometimes the stillness is part of the mystery too

(Rubber Duckie floats by)

Ernie:And sometimes, a duck shows up

Bert: Of course it does

yeah, women have really done a great job keeping it a secret how sadistic they actually are. That mentality is also the reason why so many adult female teachers go for young boys. It's not that they're desperate and it's the only way that they can get laid. It's that they specifically enjoy reversing that dynamic of being able to overpower the child and corrupt them. Statistics have shown that pornography with young-looking men that are being dominated by women is extremely popular with women.

Hey #Bluesky people (I know a few of you follow me!)

As you might be aware, Bluesky has very publicly given in to transphobic moderation policies and fascist censorship laws over the last few days. The #Fediverse is always free. It always will be free. Every government on the entire planet could literally outlaw the Fediverse and it would still be around, and still be free. You can't stop decentralized media; it'd be like banning having a computer — and that's probably what they would have to do if they wanted to even put a dent in us.

Get off your corporate platform before it implodes and find yourself a nice Fediverse instance today! You commies and anarchists can come join mine at hub.workersofthe.world , but there are awesome instances out there for everyone, whether you want to join a simple general regional one like mstdn.ca or a silly dragon-themed one like derg.social . It doesn't matter, they all federate, but it gives you a nice starting point that you can feel at home in, and that isn't owned by a corporation that's "forced" to do evil shit by an evil government. If you still feel analysis paralysis, hit me up; I can probably find somewhere perfect for you and be your friend to ease you into the non-algorithmic experience.

Come join us!

Carentan was a vital objective in June 1944, linking the American landing beaches of Utah and Omaha. The battle was fought by the 101st Airborne Division against German paratroopers and panzergrenadiers, and control of the town was essential for the success of the Normandy campaign.

Battlefield 6's Movement Changes Are "Not Drastic," Says Dev

If you've been using the jump button a little too often in the Battlefield 6 beta, then you're going to notice some changes upon launch. DICE has announced that there's now a penalty for making consecutive jumps that lowers the jump height. Momentum carried from a slide into a jump has also been tweaked to reduce its speed. Nevertheless, Battlefield 6 principal game ...
