No matter how much social justice and anti-bigotry language they may bathe themselves in, no matter how they may position themselves as "advocating for the marginalised", no matter how much you may respect them for other actions, these are *bare minimum* things, right up there with not using ethnic slurs.
p.s. for a trans person, having a necronym outed to the public is literally life-threatening, whether that leads to direct physical abuse (including death) or discrimination and abuse from entities like companies and communities (which can also all too easily lead to death)

As well-maintained as my little corner of fedi is due to the efforts of our mayor, I've been rather disappointed over the last few days to find boosts ending up in my feed where the original poster has or is condoning or even encouraging such behaviour (up to and including fantasizing about murdering trans women).
It is oh so easy to go along with a mob, to encourage harm to trans people, but I'd like to encourage anyone that reads this to take a moment, take a breath, and see why someone would be in support of targetting and harming trans people. Much like antisemitism, transphobia tends to be a canary in the coal mine and, often, people espousing these views harbour plenty more bigotries besides :cat_facepalm: and if you're confused, remember that someone's actions reveal far more than just their words.
Trans folks, especially trans women, are often severely punished for speaking out against bigotry sent their way. If you'd like to help make this world (whether it's your friend group, fedi instance, or even larger spaces) a slightly better place, you can use whatever voice you have to call bigoted actions into question and hold people accountable for their bigoted words and actions :hug_love:

there is a YouTuber i used to sometimes watch who hosted a call-in show. A trans woman called in, had given her pronouns, and i think at first he respected her pronouns, but they had an unfriendly disagreement and started misgendering her, even after his co-host attempted to gently correct him, and i refuse to watch him again because he hasn't owned up to his actions. It always makes me sad when people are like that, almost especially when people who claim to be allies do that.

I think this also applies to some trans people as well. I've met people in an AnimalCrossing discord group who were adamant that I'm an Egg for my more feminine tendencies (that's already a Red flag in my book). They decided I was she/her and called me that even after I asked to stop. When I got pissed off at them for doing it they referred to me as a girl again and remarked about how it was because of my hormones and that I would stop hating it once I "got on HRT".
So yeah very much deliberate, very much inconsiderate of me and how I feel. I couldn't agree more that anyone who does this is a transphobe, that includes trans people who do it in situations like these. I mean I literally had to leave that AnimalCrossing server because of that, they ruined my ability to continue being in that group.

Someone’s name is pretty personal. So I think it’s important to get it right. I usually ask to get it right, which includes pronunciation as well.
It’s about being a basic decent human being. Simple as that. I didn’t use the word respect on purpose, as I think all respect is earned. Not that it’s difficult to earn respect from me.
Pronouns sucks in English. But I’ll be damned if my grammatical peeves is taken out on someone else. I don’t have to imagine how it feels to be intentionally spoken to in a way meant to hurt. So I will not do that to others for no reason.
