Rocknix is a linux distro that targets 'retro handhelds' like Retroid and Anbernic. Those devices normally run Android, which is currently in full fuck-you mode, so if I were to buy a retro handheld I would be running Rocknix on it instead.
However, bad news: I asked in the Rocknix discord if i can count on them to take an anti-fascist stance, and their response was, in a word, "no".
Specifically, I asked if they were centrist, they gave me a "no politics" warning, which is a pretty clear answer to that.

I think there needs to be a website that lists responses to "do you accept fascists amongst you" from various organisations, companies and project-leads at this point.

You might have noticed we’re kinda particular about adding alt-text to images (beige.party is among top performers when it comes to alt text, by the way), and I’d like to share why and what the benefits are.
Why: there are lots of amazing people on the fedi who are either blind or visually impaired, and alt text gives them access to the images shared here. Along with them, there are folks who have visual processing disorders, and there are folks who just who might not know what the hell they’re looking at. Alt text gives them access, too. A third reason why: creating things that are accessible from the start is just a great way to make your images available to everyone without having to go back to the drawing board. The concept is Universal Design, and it’s a great way to do pretty much everything.
Benefits: 1. People who frequently come up against barriers have a space where those barriers are reduced or eliminated, and they’re more likely to stick around. 2. Interaction improves, resulting in more and better connections, allowing for a social network that’s *actually* more social. 3. Other stuff that’s not occurring to me in the moment (I’m distracted by the workshop happening on my computer screen), but which I’m sure my brilliant friends can add.
Alt text is just the right thing to do.
A comment I’ve seen before is “But what if I don’t have the spoons?” Lots of folks on fedi, my own amazing wife included, have disabilities or conditions that limit their energy or capacity to engage in tasks such as adding alt text. That’s 100% understandable and okay. A great way to work with that is to write your alt text a little bit at a time in a notes app when you have the ability, then just cut & paste when you post your image. There’s no rush in interaction here, and we want *everybody* to have access to the amazing stuff shared. Please consider this when posting pics, charts, comics, etc. We all deserve a bit of beauty, learning, and laughter in our days.
love seeing that alt text is big here, it didn't get the traction it should have on Bluesky. As someone with a chronic illness/pain, another good tip I've found for folks who don't have the spoons for alt text is to save a note on your phone with a list of alt text for things you post multiple times, like reaction images/memes/funny screenshots you want to revist later. Made a huge difference in how tedious it felt for me
Seeing many talking heads make a big deal out of government employees possibly losing their jobs does not inspire any sympathy from me. When there are economic struggles on any scale in the private sector, people lose their jobs. Why should government employees get special status of job protection?
Yes, cuts do often happen to government jobs, but I see far more protest at government jobs lost than losses in the private sector.

It comes from true believers as well who are not getting tax dollars too, because they geniunely think that our bloated bureaucracy of a system is good and cutting jobs is bad not only because of the government workers no longer having make work jobs but that those jobs are supposedly critical to "running our country."

Oui le terminal Helix TV inclus un microphone. De plus le terminal TV envoit de l'info sur les canaux que tu regardes, combien de temps tu passes dessus et l'heure que tu les regardes (ils savent donc les émissions que tu aimes)... En plus des TV pseudo-intelligente avec un autre microphone et même certaines avec une caméra.
