Oxfam: Starvation in #Gaza ‘deliberate, engineered’

"“For over two months, #Israel has enforced a total siege, blocking food, water, medicine and aid, while thousands of trucks filled with life-saving supplies ready for swift distribution, are waiting at the border, metres away, blocked from entering.”

He added that families are “wasting away from hunger”, while children are “malnourished” and “too weak to cry” as entire communities are surviving “without food or clean water”. #Oxfam’s field teams reported that in one displacement camp, only five of 500 families had any flour left to make bread."

Keyboard loving friends! The Logitech bluetooth keyboard I am using is dying. The space bar works only intermittently (btw, if you've noticed a lot of weird missing spaces in my posts... now you know why). I can replace it with another $30 Logitech thingy, but I am really considering getting one of those funky mechanical keyboards... if I can find one that I can afford and won't regret buying.

For my followers who might be into that world, would love some budget recommendations.

Berlin is deporting four foreign residents after their participation in protests against Israel’s war on Gaza. Three are EU citizens, including two from Ireland.

The deportation orders are unlawful, but Berlin’s senate is going ahead anyway.

“You can see it in the U.S. and Germany, too: Political dissent is silenced by targeting the migration status of protesters.”
@hahauenstein nails it in the title of his article:
"Germany Turns to U.S. Playbook ..."
Similarities concerning repressive state action against migrants are outlined, but also German specialities:
" ... three of the four deportation orders cite Germany’s national pledge to defend Israel – the country’s Staatsräson, German for reason of state – as justification."

"Studies have shown that children begin to identify and punish autistic traits from a young age. Human beings reinforce social norms by hurting people who break them."

If you want to understand why autism is a disability and not just a quirk or a difference, reread this quote until the words find a permanent home in your brain.

"Human beings reinforce social norms by hurting people who break them."

Not likely to feel deprived either, we have halal options for things like bacon and marshmallows that are made with beef instead of pork, and they actually taste better. Anything that is forbidden to us is for our benefit, and the food rules keep us healthy. The clothing rules keep us having a positive self image and being comfortable. Some people opt for more modest clothes than others. I have heard from sisters their reasons for choosing niqab or burqa, and it is always
something to do with boosting their confidence or feeling less stressed out about something they think os a flaw in their appearance. Like a saftey blanket for their self esteem. And I feel the same about thobes and kaftans as a man. I worry less about how I look when I wear longer clothes. Praying salah improves our stress levels and help our mental health. And so on. The reason to do practices is always because of making Allah (swt) happy with us, but the side benefits are known as "fruits" of practice. These usually improve physical or mental health, or quality of life. You can try Sunnah practices without converting if you want to see if I am telling the truth first. For example, try halal food or do wudu when you wake up. Try sleeping laying on your right side with your head cupped in your right hand. (Prevents your liver from sitting on top of your heart as happens when you sleep on the left, you get better sleep, also prevents a relaxed jaw from causing snoring as happens if you sleep on your back. Prevents nightmares and restless sleep, snoring, and stressing the heart or having a low oxygen situation.)

There's a 2017 paper in nature that finds that adults form snap judgement of autistic people based on audio and/or visual cues only, within the first minutes. This even extends to still images.

If only given the text, no such judgement happens.

Quotes

  • Otto Kuusinen: As long as the working class wages only an economic struggle, the bourgeoisie does not see in that any great danger for itself; but when the working class organises politically, i.e., creates a political party which expresses its will as a class, the bourgeoisie begins seriously to fear for its rule. That is why reaction deals its main blows against the political party of the working class. At the same time, trying to undermine the party from within, capitalist propaganda endeavours to persuade the workers that they can do without their own party. One of the manifestations of bourgeois influence on the working class is the anarchist and anarcho-syndicalist denial of the leading role of a political party.

Ever since I cut my hair a few years ago, I've had a lot of people (including my own mom) ask me what product I use to get my curl pattern. And I'm just like... water? I guess however my hair curls is desirable though it doesn't look any different to me than other people's hair. My mom insists I should be going for a bigger fro but once it hits 1/4" I shave it again. Ain't got no time for styling.

Let's try something. I'm an English technology lawyer in private practice. I can help with tech contracts, software licensing (including FOSS), SaaS and the like, and data protection.

Unlike most lawyers I'm actually technically literate, in that I spent a number of years as a sysadmin before becoming a lawyer, and I've kept up my knowledge since.

I'm practical, quick, and my rates are reasonable. Maybe I could be useful to your business?

Boosts appreciated!

InlineStyle, open fediverse based cloud

Hey folks,
We have been working on a project called InlineStyle

A European, open-source, fediverse based alternative to the Google ecosystem.

It’s a single platform with these services:
* 📧 Email address @inlinestyle.it
* 📹 Video sharing via PeerTube
* 🎵 Music streaming with Funkwhale
* 📝 Docs and Drive via Collabora/NextCloud
* 📒 Markdown based notes
* 🎮 Browser-based FOSS games (Celeste Classic, Tyrian, SuperTux, etc.)
* 🌍 Static personal site hosting

All hosted in Europe. No telemetry, no ads, no corporate BS.

It’s not a startup pitch, just something we built because we got tired of being locked in.

The idea is to keep it sustainable with a simple support plan (€1.90/month) that unlocks upload features and personal email/webspace.
Free tier available too, no login needed to browse.

🔗 inlinestyle.it/

Would love your thoughts.
What should I improve? What’s missing for you to consider switching?

Our goal is to try to build a real #DeGoogle fediverse based path that doesn’t feel like a downgrade.
It will take time, but we are willing to try and stay committed to the mission.

We’ve been exploring the idea of adding a chat service.
But we haven’t yet decided which protocol would provide the most value for most people.

Right now, we’re considering XMPP and Matrix — both are solid, privacy-respecting options.
Our goal is to offer something that lets people communicate with their existing contacts, not start from scratch.

We’d love your input: what would you actually use? What works best in your daily setup?

Reformism, liberalism, social Darwinism, anarchism, pragmatism, populism, syndicalism—they all were given their moment on the stage. They all failed to solve the problems of China’s future destiny. It is Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought that guided the Chinese people out of the darkness of that long night and established a New China. wordsmith.social/protestation/…
