So... apologies if this isn't the right place to ask and I will immediately go to the right place if there is a better one... but I have a question about fedia.io

So... apologies if this isn't the right place to ask and I...

I am a reddit refugee from the mod wars. I love it here. I originally made an mbin account but then 9 months ago mbin seemed to die so I made a new fedia.io account and things have been going swimmingly so far.

A few days ago I noticed that fedia.io pages have been loading increasingly slowly. All I am wondering is where the best magazine/online place/other forum I can check is to see if there are any issues happening on fedia.io or anything that might be responsible for the slowed performance.

I can't just search "Is fedia.io down" like I would with other online resources. Any help or steer towards more appropriate places for me to ask this question would be much appreciated.

I'm working my way through Picks and Shovels (from @pluralistic), and what is engaging me, more than the company drama, is seeing the main character mature into the human we see in the earlier books. Each book takes place earlier than the last.

I had the thought that I'd love to see an even earlier book where Marty Hench solves schoolyard mysteries like an Encyclopedia Brown, although I don't think that'd work; his interests and skills are solidly established after he leaves home.... But it would be fun to have some short stories about a next generation's red-teaming forensic accountant being by-chance-mentored by Hench as they deal with tech issues that pop up in schools in the current age.

Louis Prevost, brother of Pope Leo XIV, clarified that while the new pope is more liberal than himself, he will not pursue radical changes and intends to maintain the reforms initiated by Pope Francis.

Prevost emphasized that Pope Leo XIV will not overturn the changes made by Pope Francis and is unlikely to endorse major doctrinal shifts such as the ordination of women or the approval of same-sex marriage, aligning with the Church's traditional views.

Prevost predicted potential tensions but no significant conflict between Pope Leo XIV and President Trump, comparing their relationship to Trump's interactions with other leaders. He highlighted the pope's potential role as a mediator and peacemaker, suggesting a balanced and pragmatic approach to international relations.

Prevost defended his controversial social media post about Nancy Pelosi but acknowledged the need to "tone it down" to avoid creating challenges for his brother. He indicated a shift in his approach to avoid provocative comments that could impact the pope's reputation.

The interview suggests that Pope Leo XIV will adopt a centrist approach, balancing tradition with modernity. His commitment to continuity and pragmatic leadership is expected to provide stability and direction for the Church during uncertain times.

OTD 45 years ago, at 8:32 AM, Mt. St. Helens erupted, displacing a cubic mile of debris, killing 57 people, darkening skies, and raining ash on 11 states.

I was camping with my girlfriend about 150 miles away in the Three Sisters Wilderness and we heard the blast. We heard a second big boom as it echoed off Mt. Jefferson or Mt. Washington. We got back to Portland in the mid afternoon in time to see the huge plume of ash trailing off as far as the eye could see.

Where were you?

#France / French female Rabbi faces death threats after criticizing Israel's Gaza policy

French Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur faces threats from within her own community after publishing an article criticizing #Israel's blockade of humanitarian aid to #Gaza.

Horvilleur, who wrote that "without a future for the Palestinian people, there can be no future for the Israeli people," has been met with calls for "din rodef" (religious permission to kill someone deemed dangerous) and a barrage of misogynistic attacks. 90% of messages she's received attack her appearance or claim women shouldn't hold religious authority.

[…] Like many other Jews, I want to say that my love for this country is not based on a messianic promise, a property deed, or a sanctification of the land. It is a dream of survival for a people that no one knew how or wanted to protect, and it is the absolute refusal to annihilate another people to achieve it. It is the conviction, already expressed by its founders, that this State must live up to its ancestral history and, according to the terms of its Declaration of Independence, "extend a hand" to all neighboring countries and their peoples.

Despite the backlash, Horvilleur, who describes herself as "too Zionist for some, not Zionist enough for others," maintains she speaks out of love for Israel, quoting Isaiah: "For Zion's sake I will not be silent."

Her social media accounts are now under police surveillance as she continues to advocate that criticizing Israeli policy isn't betrayal but a moral obligation.

Miley Cyrus - Younger Now (Official Video)

Feels like I just woke up
Like all this time I've been asleep
Even though it's not who I am
I'm not afraid of who I used to be

No one stays the same (Oh, oh)
You know what goes up must come down (Oh, oh)
Change is a thing you can count on (Oh, oh)
I feel so much younger now (Oh, oh)

Feels like I've been living in a dream
But never make it to the end
My eyes open when they feel the light
It's always right before I'm about to scream

No one stays the same (Oh, oh)
You know what goes up must come down (Oh, oh)
Change is a thing you can count on (Oh, oh)
I feel so much younger now (Oh, oh)

What goes up must come down
What goes up must come down
What goes up must come down
What goes up must come down (yeah)

No one stays the same (Oh, oh)
You know what goes comes back around (Oh, oh)
Change is a thing you can count on (Oh, oh)
I feel so much younger now (Oh, oh)
I feel so much younger now (yeah)

Miley Cyrus - BB Talk

Listen to the new music project "Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz"

Alright, so this is really fucked up, but
Alright, I was sleeping next to him
But I was dreaming about the other dude
And then, all of a sudden everything that he fucking did just made me cringe

And it was so hard to fall in, but so easy to just fall back right out again
And this whole time, I could give to you and I could paint you pictures
But I guess I could just never write a song and then
Maybe I never fell out of love with him in the first place

I mean, I-I don't want to feel this feeling 'cause my energy's just so strong
That I don't know if I'm creating this or if this is actually what is meant to be
And you know they, they say that you gotta think what you want into existence

But you know what?
I've never been too good at making decisions, so
I have no idea what the fuck I want, I guess

You're giving me a feeling in my head
Laying in my bed, just thinking
Not really feeling like the one I want
Takes everything in me not to call him

I really, really, really want you to
I told all my friends I'm moving on

Your baby talk is creeping me out
Fuck me so you'll stop baby talking

You know what, in the beginning, it was like
We were fucking homies and shit and then
All of a sudden you started with some fucking baby goo-goo tongue down my fucking throat
I mean, even in front of your mom
Dude, as if I'm not fucking awkward enough
I mean, you put me in these fucking situations where I look like a dumbass bitch
And I'm not a fucking dumbass bitch

You know, I-I hate all that fucking PDA
I probably hate it more than your fucking friends do

You know, it's-, it's sweet
And you couldn't be more opposite of my last dickhead but
You know, it's just-, I don't know if I can get over the fucking goo?

You keep saying again, and again
We're laying in my bed, just talking

And now I know I can't hold it back
I'm feeling like I'm gonna vomit
I don't really want an older you
I heard I change my mind way too often
Baby talk is creeping me out
Fuck me so you'll stop baby talking

Alright so, I'm gonna be honest
It's- it's the super cutey shit, that's the main issue here

I mean, I'm fucking what?
Look, I like when you send me, you know the- the Queen emoji?
But when I send back the monkey, you know the ones with the- the hands over the eyes?

That means that shit's just getting a little too weird for me
And I mean, I don't know how to say it in person
I just, like, you know, bury my head in your armpit which
Weirdly smells good and your hair and your fucking teeth

Like, why the fuck would I wanna lick your teeth?
But I do and then you remember there was that one time that I had like a 15 minute?
Oh, that was kind of the best thing in the entire world (fuck me so you stop baby talking)
So, you know, maybe I could just get past this shit and I could get used to someone, you know, giving a fuck? (Fuck me so you stop baby talking)

I'm sorry I called you a creep and that thing about the vomit (fuck me so you stop baby talking)
I mean, look, I'm really starting to be in this whole thing
But no matter what you do, homegirl can't handle the fucking goo (fuck me so you stop baby talking)

Fuck me so you stop baby talking
Fuck me so you stop baby talking
Fuck me so you stop baby talking
Fuck me so you stop baby talking

I don't really want an older you
I heard I change my mind way too often
Baby talk is creeping me out
Fuck me so you stop baby talking

I don't know about that. The era of making money directly from consumers is over. Now, the fake "pretend government" takes most of it through taxes, launders it through war, UN donations and schemes like FTX and then the shadow government at the World Economic Forum gives it to companies like Disney to produce agenda-driven media and hire their people. They still make money from us, just not through ticket sales.

Here's a fun bug I found... Our engine likes to crash if you delete objects too quickly. NOOO idea how as the physics ticks can never exceed the game logic rate and the deletion queue is run exactly once before each tick. So few objects in the game I doubt I missed anything in the destruction that would lead to this... but here you go, somehow I managed to break it anyway 😛

Karl Marx: And so the Paris proletariat was confronted with an army, drawn from its own midst, of 24,000 young, strong, foolhardy men. it gave cheers for the Mobile Guard on its marches through Paris. It acknowledged it to be its foremost fighters on the barricades. It regarded it as the proletarian guard in contradistinction to the bourgeois National Guard. Its error was pardonable. Besides the Mobile Guard, the government decided to rally around itself an army of industrial workers. A hundred thousand workers, thrown on the streets by the crisis and the revolution, were enrolled by the Minister Marie in so-called national ateliers (workshops). Under this grandiose name was hidden nothing else than the employment of the workers on tedious, monotonous, unproductive earthworks at a wage of 23 sous. English workhouses in the open – that is what these national ateliers were. The Provisional Government believed that it had formed, in them, a second proletarian army against the workers themselves. This time the bourgeoisie was mistaken in the national ateliers, just as the workers were mistaken in the Mobile Guard. It had created an army for mutiny. wordsmith.social/protestation/…

  • Otto Kuusinen: As long as the working class wages only an economic struggle, the bourgeoisie does not see in that any great danger for itself; but when the working class organises politically, i.e., creates a political party which expresses its will as a class, the bourgeoisie begins seriously to fear for its rule. That is why reaction deals its main blows against the political party of the working class. At the same time, trying to undermine the party from within, capitalist propaganda endeavours to persuade the workers that they can do without their own party. One of the manifestations of bourgeois influence on the working class is the anarchist and anarcho-syndicalist denial of the leading role of a political party.

  • Democritus: We know nothing accurately in reality, but (only) as it changes according to the bodily condition, and the constitution of those things that flow upon (the body) and impinge upon it.
  • Democritus: Medicine heals diseases of the body, wisdom frees the soul from passions.
  • Democritus: Immoderate desire is the mark of a child, not a man.
  • Democritus: Men have fashioned an image of Chance as an excuse for their own stupidity.
  • Democritus: In a shared fish, there are no bones.
  • Democritus: Education is an ornament for the prosperous, a refuge for the unfortunate.
  • Democritus: The animal needing something knows how much it needs, the man does not.
  • Democritus: Moderation multiplies pleasures, and increases pleasure.
  • Democritus: If your desires are not great, a little will seem much to you; for small appetite makes poverty equivalent to wealth.
  • Democritus: No power and no treasure can outweigh the extension of our knowledge.
  • Democritus: In fact we do not know anything infallibly, but only that which changes according to the condition of our body and of the (influences) that reach and impinge upon it.
  • Democritus: Of practical wisdom these are the three fruits: to deliberate well, to speak to the point, to do what is right.
  • Democritus: 'Tis not in strength of body nor in gold that men find happiness, but in uprightness and in fulness of understanding.
  • Democritus: He who does wrong is more unhappy than he who suffers wrong.
  • Samuel P. Huntington: The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion (to which few members of other civilizations were converted) but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.
  • Marjori Palmer: One of the most morale-damaging aspects of the inflation was the "sack of Germany" that occurred at the height of the (1923) inflation. Anyone who possessed dollars or sterling was king in Germany. A few American dollars would allow a man to live like a millionaire. Foreigners swarmed into the country, buying up family treasures, estates, jewelry and art works at unbelievable low prices.
  • Lionel Robbins: It was the most colossal thing of its kind in history: and next probably to the Great War itself, it must bear responsibility for many of the political and economic difficulties of our generation. It destroyed the wealth of the more solid elements of German society: and left behind a moral and economic disequilibrium, a breeding ground for the disasters which have followed. Hitler is the foster child of the inflation.
  • Lenin: There is no trace of utopianism in Marx, in the sense that he made up or invented a 'new' society. No, he studied the birth of the new society out of the old, and the forms of transition from the latter to the former, as a natural-historical process. He examined the actual experience of a proletarian mass movement and tried to draw practical lessons from it.
  • Che Guevara: Many will call me an adventurer - and that I am, only one of a different sort: one of those who risks his skin to prove his platitudes.
  • Democritus: The first principles of the universe are atoms and empty space; everything else is merely thought to exist.
  • Bertolt Brecht: Lenin is enshrined In the large heart of the working class.
