Accept less and be happy.
Tiny homes.
Small lots.
But.
Pay more.
Be comfortable with less.
Don’t be greedy.

Now.

Fuck that.
Never settle.
Demand more.
Know true worth.

Lie upon lie.
They admire and promote the wretched.
I will repeat myself.
Demand more.
That’s the way.

They will call you greedy.
Call them assholes.
O.K.
I’m done.

  • Otto Kuusinen: As long as the working class wages only an economic struggle, the bourgeoisie does not see in that any great danger for itself; but when the working class organises politically, i.e., creates a political party which expresses its will as a class, the bourgeoisie begins seriously to fear for its rule. That is why reaction deals its main blows against the political party of the working class. At the same time, trying to undermine the party from within, capitalist propaganda endeavours to persuade the workers that they can do without their own party. One of the manifestations of bourgeois influence on the working class is the anarchist and anarcho-syndicalist denial of the leading role of a political party.

Mint/Ubuntu and 9070 issues

So after trying out Mint on my old laptop for a few months I wanted to go straight to Linux on my new build what with it being surprisingly user friendly once past the initial jank.

---The build---
MOBO: Gigabyte b850 aorus elite wifi7
CPU: AMD 9950X3D
GPU: Powercolour 9070xt
RAM Corsair vengance 64GB 5200MHz DDR5
Storage: WD Black SN850X 2TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 Gen4 x4 NVMe SSD

So naturally everything is now on fire.

I started with Mint Cinnamon edition which did install after some initial teething (Boot USB on safemode) but just refused to work with the wifi adapter on that motherboard, it also couldn't see the GPU but I never got to trying to resolve that since the Mint setup is pretty wifi dependant and I wasn't sure it wouldn't fix itself once it could finish sorting itself out.

I then had a friend who's been using Linux for 10 years (Some distro called tumbleweed?) reccomend I try Ubuntu as it generaly supports more hardware. It did work with wifi right out of the box but had this weird issue where it could recognize my GPU and load the right driver but then just give up and use the IGPU on my CPU anyway. Also janky with software with steam (Which I never had issues with on Mint on my laptop) just refusing to work properly and at one point getting into a cage match with snap, even when installed from steams own website rather than the application manager (with an uninstall of the old one in between of course)

We spent a good couple of hours getting slapped with weird behaviours and bugs my friend had never seen before until calling it a day.

So once again I'm here politely asking what the fuck linux!? Seriously though what do I do here, I can just about manage running windows software on afformentioned laptop mint install but linux as a whole just seems to hate this hardware setup.

Alright I'm just going with a stripped down version of windows 10, I've spent 2 days trying things from here and from that friend and from random forum posts of people with the same issue and at this point it seems no one has a consistent fix and I don't feel like building an entire operating system from scratch (nor would I know how)

Ubuntu 25.04 plucky currently has kernel 6.14, 24.04 noble only 6.11.

Debian 12 bookworm has 6.1 and the now frozen 13 trixie has 6.12.

For Debian bookworm, the non-free AMD graphics drivers firmware-amd-graphics date from 20230210 (backported: 20241210) and for trixie 20250410.

I don't know how up to date the amd firmware versions in the Ubuntu release are.

Stalin: The first, older generation of Bolsheviks was well grounded. We memorized Capital, summarized, argued and tested one another. This was our strength. This helped us a lot. The second generation was less prepared. People were busy with practical work and construction. They studied Marxism through brochures. The third generation has been raised on pamphlets and newspaper articles. They don't have a deep understanding of Marxism. They must be given food that is easily digestible. The majority of them were raised on quotations, not the study of Marx and Lenin. If things continue this way, people might degenerate. People may decide they don't need Capital when we are building socialism. This threatens degradation. This will mean death. In order to avoid this even in part, it is necessary to raise the level of economic understanding. wordsmith.social/protestation/…

UK suspends free trade talks with Israel and announces sanctions over West Bank settlers

The U.K. suspended free trade talks with Israel on Tuesday and hit West Bank settlers with sanctions, less than a day after vowing “concrete actions” if Israel didn’t stop its new military offensive in Gaza.

🎙TheIslanderNews

This is a factually erroneous title, let's get around this story more critically and precisely:
Yair Golan is not opposition leader, he is leader of the center-left Democrats, which is a merging of the Labor together with the Meretz party - this is the essential remains of what is considered the "Zionist left".
Now, the actual opposition leader, Yair Lapid, he leads the centrist Yesh Atid party.
Lapid has condemned Golan for his statements, calling them a "gift to our enemies" and calling Golan's party a "radical left" party.
Of course, the Democrats are no such thing. And neither is Golan. Golan has made multiple outright genocidal statements within the past two years. In February he expressed hope that 7 million Palestinuans would "completely disappear", and in October 2023 he advocated for denying Gazans humanitarian aid altogether and starving them, as a "totally legitimate" thing. See both and more here:
https://x.com/ireallyhateyou/status/1889434552784826666

So it's much worse. Golan is trying to wash his bloody hands, and it's clear that liberals internationally are trying to cling to Golan's warnings as if they are a sign of hope in the "good Israel". But that hope is misplaced.
And finally, to Golan's much discussed comments:
"A sane country does not fight against civilians, does not kill babies as a hobby, and does not give itself the aim of expelling populations... Israel is on the way to becoming a pariah state, like South Africa was, if we don’t return to acting like a sane country,”
So, fighting against civilians was always Israel's way. It did not expel over a million Palestinians (1948 and 1967 alone) because they were combatants, but precisely because they were civilian residents. Ethnic cleansing has always been Israel's way. And if that's insanity, then there is nothing to "return to".

  • Democritus: By convention sweet is sweet, bitter is bitter, hot is hot, cold is cold, color is color; but in truth there are only atoms and the void.
  • Democritus: We know nothing accurately in reality, but (only) as it changes according to the bodily condition, and the constitution of those things that flow upon (the body) and impinge upon it.

Anyone who possessed dollars or sterling was king in Germany. A few American dollars would allow a man to live like a millionaire. Foreigners swarmed into the country, buying up family treasures, estates, jewelry and art works at unbelievable low prices.
  • Lionel Robbins: It was the most colossal thing of its kind in history: and next probably to the Great War itself, it must bear responsibility for many of the political and economic difficulties of our generation. It destroyed the wealth of the more solid elements of German society: and left behind a moral and economic disequilibrium, a breeding ground for the disasters which have followed. Hitler is the foster child of the inflation.
