L’ancien ministre israélien de la Défense, Moshé #Yaalon, a vivement critiqué la politique du gouvernement de Benjamin #Netanyahu, qu’il accuse d’être guidée par une “idéologie messianique, nationaliste et fasciste”.

Also, she also wants to annihilate and expel two million human beings in the #Gaza Strip.

“Lafair belongs to a stream within Israeli Judaism that can be described as ‘ #YogiNazis’, people whose #spiritualism underpins their #Nazism. “Lafair understands that people tend to be puzzled when facing this dissonance between spirituality and annihilation. So she in one of her videos, she has ‘a message to everyone who doesn't understand how it's possible to be spiritual, to teach yoga and hold retreats, whilst calling for the expulsion and annihilaSHon [sic] of your enemy.’

“Indeed, her answer is simple: ‘I love my people with an undying love, and I hate my enemy with an undying hatred… One does not contradict the other. One can be a person filled with values and love, and at the same time… you also know what is right and what is wrong, you stand firm against your enemy and you know what must be done with them.’

“So, what must be done with them? (SHSHSH… don't tell anyone.)

“M., the same woman who cares for children ‘with a gentle, connecting and nurturing approach’ explains: ‘You know what? After October 7, I don't have an ounce of compassion for anyone there. Not even for children.’

“And if Lafair's Nazi-spiritualism can be written off because she's a settler who's found an efficient solution for realizing the idea of Greater Israel, it's worth noting that this is a far broader phenomenon that isn't limited to the occupied territories.

“One day before #Holocaust Remembrance Day, for example, standup comedian and satirist Gil Kopatz, who has been flirting with spirituality and religion for years, posted the following: ‘If you feed sharks, they eventually eat you. If you feed Gazans, they eventually eat you. I support making sharks extinct and exterminating Gazans. Reflections for Holocaust Remembrance Day 2025.’

“After the post generated a "storm,’ Kopatz posted a clarification: ‘I don't have an ounce of compassion for the Gazans. For Arabs as a whole, yes, for human beings as a whole, yes, for sharks – no, and not for human beasts.’ Of course, his desire to eradicate millions of people doesn't imply he's a bad person. Indeed, ‘I consider myself to be a humane, liberal and moral person,’ he writes. To top it off, he ends the post with a bit of dark humor: ‘It's not genocide, it's pesticide, and it’s essential.’ A regular riot that one, eh?

“In fact, most of the spiritual vocabulary in #Israel has been mobilized in service of #YogiNazism. Take M., for example, a woman from a large well-to-do city a few kilometers north of Tel Aviv. She runs a studio described as ‘a pleasant space, filled with inspiration,’ which espouses three values: ‘Creativity. Emotion. Experience.’

“In this pleasant space she facilitates ‘creativity groups for children – from the age of four and up; personal emotional guidance for children and youth – with a gentle, connecting and nurturing approach.’ All of this happens, of course, in ‘a homey, warm and professional atmosphere’ (those interested are ‘lovingly invited’).

“Yet, when this same M. is shown a video showing a hungry child in the Gaza Strip, she asserts immediately: ‘Not credible. Sorry. I've seen how clips are staged – positioning, applying makeup, putting together a script.’ Never mind not credible, but the same woman who cares for children ‘with a gentle, connecting and nurturing approach’ explains, ‘You know what? Even if it is real, after October 7, I don't have an ounce of compassion for anyone there. Not even for children.’ Furthermore: ‘It saddens me to see people among us actually sharing this shit, and worse, identifying with it and expressing pain.’

“To make it clear that she's not a callous person, she sums up: ‘The writer is a mother, a lover of humanity and an all around great person.’ It's just that ‘October 7 took away my innocence.’ Poor woman, she's really struggling.

“A., too, is not a settler. She lives in a well-established city in Israel and is simply looking to find a new home for ‘an amazing dog!!!! She's fully house-trained, a dog filled with love who needs a warm, loving home.’

“So much caring, so much love, so much compassion. And yet, when she encounters a photograph of a Gazan child who was killed in an Israeli bombing, she instantly grasps that someone is trying to confuse her, and posts: ‘Let's make things clear. If there had been no massacre here, there would be no massacre there!! It's not the chicken-and-egg case!!!

“Afterwards, when the chicken and egg can't seem to figure out what she meant, she resorts to some of the ‘best’ debunked calumnies spread in the wake of the horrific massacre – ‘after babies here were burned, their heads chopped off, put into an oven’– and concludes resoundingly: ‘There was no reason to send in a container of clothes for their children.’

“Of course, she too was once a compassionate, sensitive person – ‘Don't get me wrong, I thought exactly like you until October 6, but if someone comes to kill you… it's case closed. They started and we will finish!!!’ (don't you mean 'finiSH?').

“There are many of these in present-day Israel. Spiritual people who view the annihilation of the other as a form of personal growth and the eradication of the enemy as empowerment. They live in one big retreat, where consciousness is so finely tuned that all noise disappears, all disturbances are muted, so that they are left with only themselves, them and their inner being – pure, compassionate, unsullied – and finally able to connect with what resided there all along, waiting to be revealed: The desire to annihilate and destroy millions of people, including children, women and the elderly. This compliments @pluralistic's vital critiques of #enshittification quite well, but they're both getting at something larger IMO: as a society, we've been conditioned by the powerful to accept substance-free mediocrity as not just the norm, but the optimal state. It shows up in tons of ways, from vapid social media influencers peddling poorly-made vanity products with no real intrinsic value, to the neverending reign of reality TV's paint-by-numbers programming, to the cynical "brainrot" content trends we see now, to everyone desperately trying to pretend #AI in its current state is anything but a bell curve simulator, to cynical politicians virtue signaling about every issue while doing everything they can to avoid anything resembling legislation or governance (i.e. their job).

In every way, the rich prefer a world in which we're distracted and disarmed while they can enrich themselves by merely existing without straining or challenging themselves in any way. It's the societal equivalent of parents handing kids an iPad so they don't have to deal with them vs. actually parenting. Name any of the #billionaires who obsessively focus on our collective substance and incremental improvement vs. jazz hands PR stunts and corporate pablum while paying lip service about shareholder value. You can't, they don't exist. Every single one of them is trying to give you, the baby, an iPad to play with, so you'll leave them the fuck alone. Better yet, if you die or disappear, they can just keep the iPad for themselves and not have to deal with you at all! Wonder why they're bankrolling tax cuts that destroy much of what makes existing in this country possible and worthwhile?

We are in a class war, not a culture war. Our politics are a symptom of what Ed lays out here, not the cause. The sooner we all realize that and band together, the better off we'll all be.

With great pride and honor, the Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, mourns its martyred comrade, the heroic fighter “Adham Karam Abu Sharkh / Abu Khaled.”

One of the heroes of the Intelligence Branch of the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, he was martyred on the road to Al-Quds and Palestine, treacherously and directly targeted by the occupation’s warplanes during the battles to defend and confront our people in the midst of the epic of October 7th in the “Bashit Camp” in the city of Rafah, a city of steadfastness and defiance. He inscribed with his blood the most wonderful meanings of sacrifice and redemption, and was a fierce defender of our Palestinian people and the Arab nation, defending the afflicted and oppressed among our Palestinian people in the face of zionist aggression in the ongoing resistance against our existence and our right to liberate Palestine from the river to the sea.

Our comrade “Abu Khaled” exemplified a committed, resistant comrade, not a compromising one advancing to the front lines. It is to be noted that the comrade rejected an offer from the Dutch embassy to leave and join his family residing in the Netherlands, preferring to choose the path of blood as a path to freedom and independence, and in defense of our people, our cause, and our land.

Despite the great pain of losing our comrade and all our heroes who never gave up, we affirm that this tragedy will only strengthen our resolve and steadfastness to continue on the path of the martyrs, struggling and fighting until the last drop of blood for a comprehensive and complete liberation, expelling the occupation from all of our Palestinian national territory, restoring all of our usurped rights, and avenging the blood of our martyrs and leaders.

Our comrade Adham was martyred on Sunday, May 12, 2024, while carrying out his duty as a fighter and combatant while carrying out a mission to confront the ground invasion of the city of Rafah. The loss of privacy is destroying our society.


The recapture of privacy

In his #social contract, Kant divides reason into private and public reason. Private reason is the kind of reason we can use in our “official capacity,” i.e., a reason that is subject to severe restrictions and whose observance is necessary for smooth functioning. Public reason, on the other hand, is that of the “scholar.” According to #Kant, this should be free and allowed to question and express everything.

In addition to reason in public, there is also an area of absolute privacy. This is the realm of family, friends, or one's own self. In ancient times, this was called the oikos, the household. As long as this area does not touch the public sphere, i.e., does not break any generally applicable laws, everything is permitted there and is negotiated within the oikos itself. It is not without reason that #sexuality and other things that would cause “public nuisance” are located there.

But what happens in a digital society where these centuries-old boundaries between these areas have dissolved practically overnight? This dissolution is happening, on the one hand, through permanent self-publication in real time on so-called “social media.” And on the other hand, and much more seriously, through the technically feasible and actually occurring #total surveillance and recording of all events taking place in the digital space.

Since we live in a completely digitalized world, all areas of life are also reflected there. It does not matter whether it is the private sphere of the oikos or the public consideration of a social problem. If everything becomes public and, as everyone knows today, permanently recorded, this means the complete abolition of privacy, of the private sphere, of the oikos.

This is disastrous. While public and private reason must simply be renegotiated, as it has always been, the loss of privacy is a turning point in #human history and was previously considered an instrument of torture in penitentiaries and prisons.
However, privacy and #privacy are inextricably linked to social and individual freedom and a dignified life in general. The reconquest of privacy is therefore the decisive battle at the beginning of an all-encompassing digitalization that leaves no room for analog space.

But how can this be achieved? In the field of software security, there is the concept of militarized and demilitarized zones. It is assumed that every device and every program connected to the global network is (or can be) attacked, read, compromised, and manipulated at any time. Everything that happens on the internet, in digital space, therefore takes place in the militarized zone and is, by definition, subject to constant attack.
The answer to how #privacy can also be established in digital space logically comes from the military tradition. It is cryptography.

Since the beginning of military conflicts, #humanity has tried to alter important messages in such a way that the enemy cannot evaluate them.
Since everything on the internet can potentially be controlled by the “enemy” (in this case, the enemy of privacy), it is therefore urgently necessary that everything that is private, no matter how uninteresting or insignificant, must be encrypted and cryptographed. The creation of a fully comprehensive #cryptography for the private sphere is thus one of the most important tasks facing humanity in the new era.

In addition to the challenge of making people aware of this and implementing it, one of the greatest difficulties is that cryptographic tools are needed for encryption and decryption. These cannot be in the hands of individuals or groups, but must be free and available as open source. The cryptographic tool itself must therefore not contain any secrets. The secret to encryption, the #key, must be in the hands of the individual, just like a key that locks the door to one's home before one indulges in private pursuits.
