Inside a secret Ukrainian drone factory - UnHerd

“The idea is for every person on the frontline to have a device like this — it’s an absolute necessity, like having a helmet or gun,” says Taras, the firm’s product manager. “If you go into the dead zone there might be hundreds, maybe thousands, of drones flying overhead. Yet when we talk about this being a drone war, it’s really a war of frequencies. It’s about finding the frequencies and evading the frequencies.”

When you are building in go or rust keep an eye on your disk quota

The crappy rust/go cargo of redundant coder specific libraries (instead of those that exist in the system) are loaded while the program is compiled,

go : in ~/go/pkg AND in ~/.cache/go-build/
rust in ~/.cargo/

Before you know it your builder's home partition may get full and you will run into building errors you can't explain (can't write disk full) ..

just a heads up on why we also don't like go and rust code

By the way, on the content of this post you can not deduce we are so "negative" about rust, you must have read it elsewhere but yes we try not to have much to do with it as "reasonably" possible.

Is it about rust and the kenel?
Personally I'd rather use MS-win7 than trust the likes of Linus and Greg with shoving rust packaging into the kernel.

Is there a single fediverse related software or server that is not rust based? I haven't found one. What a coincidence ... they are all written in rust they all require scripts enabled by the user to be even read, let alone login and participate.

There many many projects of really high quality and use-value that remain in the dark, no mention by common unix/linux/sysadmin media, no adaptation by distros , while total bubbles get immediate and disproportionate publicity. Daemontools, perp, anope, runit,s6 were among such obscure projects. What about seatd, libudev-zero, while you can have guis of no more than aesthetic value that became popular overnight. So there is funding for some projects and publicity to draw attention and sometimes even indirect, as client media pick up on their customers' "pet projects and interests" and give them a boost while deny mentioning others from which they don't expect benefits.

Reverse engineer this observation to be really cautious and worry about seeing too much smoke, too much prop.mentioning, too many praises ... and follow funding. This trick of separating the project itself and its participants from a funding source called a "foundation" which does not need to disclose the source of funding, even to leading members of the project, is a nice front. So who funds rust? We know who funds go, but rust is more obscure.

Zstd was such a phantom miracle, popped up from nowhere, adopted by the majority, and even incorporated internally to some projects as a mechanism, disregarding intentional choices by the distro or the sys-admin. All the red flags that you can find zstd has them.

So even if you don't have concrete evidence to blame some projects, you can at least show some reservation and caution.

"Some people think they are supposed to wash their meats and chicken before cooking. I recommend not washing them because that puts you at risk for spreading the bacteria around your kitchen and around yourself," Hill says.

Cooking raw chicken straight from the package is safe, says the Food and Drug Administration, because modern food safety systems have been greatly improved. Bringing meats to their proper temperatures will destroy any foodborne illness.

Gypsy Crusader said black people wash their meat with soap before cooking it

Is there any link online to confirm this

Possibly a video of black people washing meat in soap or a blog where a black person suggests to wash meat in soap or says that they wash meat in soap

This mayo clinic link says not to wash meat before cooking it, I assume it would be implied that there guidelines then are not to wash meat in soap

Can washing meat in soap lead to poisoning?

Krusti Noem is a relatively young acerbic cunt with presumably decades of life left in her.

Did I say life? I meant scorn, ridicule, derision.

When this shit is over I want her to spend the rest of her life wallowing in her own putrid juices of hate and malignancy.

May she be afflicted with every cancer known to medicine and her face falls off.

Have my Cake and Eat it TOO!?!
Current side PC is crashing and doing other weird stuff. Happened after a power surge. I have a surge protector. But I was also running it really hard playing Starfield just to see if it could at the time.

Okay... buying a PC that is that good is ridiculous given my circumstances. But I could get something cheaper that does everything I need my side PC to do. AND leave room for the possibility of fixing the messed up PC myself... eventually.

Odds are I will never tear apart that PC. But on the other hand if I can fix it myself it spares me the judgment of a computer nerd. And getting screwed to have him diagnose it and/or fix something while he sits in judgment on me: "OKAY, Boomer!"

Instant fix to the issues I'm having and a better option than shiny and new and EXPENSIVE.

I would consider creating a swapfile if you have an SSD. There should be countless tutorials for doing it on Ubuntu.

It might mean your windows or Ubuntu install gets sluggish, but even 32GB (less than 10% of a typical storage drive!) of spare swap space can let your active and memory-hogging processes breathe instead of invoking the SystemD-OOM killer.

For what it's worth, I think Ubuntu is also fairly aggressive with memory management. I remember complaints that it was a little too hasty to kill user processes under memory-limited scenarios. not sure if that was addressed

VMs will crash because of running out of RAM.

It sounds like that's exactly what's happening with your setup, however you probably don't need to buy more RAM to fix it.

Type free, or free -h, into a terminal to see how much RAM and swap space is being used.

Swap is a tool that allows you to use your storage drive as additional RAM when necessary. If nothing indicates swap usage when using free, then you need to enable swap space.

Ask AI "How do I enable swap on Linux" and it should give you good instructions.
