I know, especially open source communities! But I am a political person, and instance moderators heavily defending authoritarian countries such as North Korea and Russia is a hard no go for me. So instead I try to engage in alternative communities on other instances, even if they are very small or sadly do not exist at all.

I am fucking impressed. Even something as neutral as an announcement of an AMA hosted by a small group of FOSS developers on the flagship instance of the third most popular fedi platform is also overriden by this obsession to turn the fediverse into a turf war.
There is only one side of this massive waste of time of an argument that is obsessed with suppressing differing points of view, and it's not "tankies". There are way too many meta threads where users from 2 or 3 instances act like rabid monkeys slinging shit at everything if so much as someone has casually mentioned Marx in their general direction at some point in history. Even if a thread is not meant to be meta, there is a high % chance that the discussion has devolved into this. Some users really cannot think or discuss anything else. But because they override entire discussions, sometimes blocking them just leaves threads empty (see, for example, the present thread). At this point it's pathetic, and makes me want to stop using Lemmy altogether.
It is also even more frustrating having seen the "lemmy.ml is a tankie instance" campaign be fabricated in real time the exact moment .world defeded grad because, otherwise, how are we going to pretend we are being censored and manipulated by a nebulous communist authority at the point of the 21st century where liberalism has openly turned to fascism across the entire Global North?

I tried to set up with the reamper box but cant find the right cables. I was going to use the media player into it but its XLR in only on this reamper. So I had to figure out another solution.
Then I remembered my Ditto looper lets me drop sounds into it. I'm pretty experienced with mic placement now after 30 years of doing this LOL, so dropped the 2 samples click into it via USB. And this actually worked out better than reamping/excess cabling....
I'm still mulling over selling on these cheap mics I bought, so its an opportunity to create an IR. I've seen other people use kick mics on cabs for stoner rock and doom metal, so decided to generate an IR from that. These usually blend well with mid-heavy mics like sm57 or e906.
OK.I relented and bought an official SM57 for my Birthday. It arrived today after a small wait. So maybe I'll do some IRs with this too, or find a mixer and multi mic.

I'm using the Hempback here but have a Ruby and a Black Gold to try later too... plus the micro practice amps.
I tend to focus the mic close on the edge of the dust cap, but have also done a couple at 45 degrees towards the same position.
I realised my radiator in my room is creating a kind of slap-back reverberation too. My solution is to place a fleece over it and this seems to have made the file size smaller by 3-400 samples.
Typically I'm getting 700ish samples length of sound from the 2 samples source.
..I've yet to actually test these either in the DAW IR loader, or in the Helix, but this feels closer to what I wanted to achieve when I buggered up the Behringer Bass Vamp Pro experiment.
Had a quick test in Ableton with an IR loader. I've only created 6 IRs so far but they all work. Typical Hempback dark and thick sounds. Almost vintage guitar record sounds too.

I used to work with a lady who would always take an interest in my music. Sheโd ask how our jam sessions went and if Iโd recorded anything new. But, anytime I had something new, sheโd listen to it through, and then tell me that itโs โnot her kind of musicโ. It always bemused me that she would take such an interest if she didnโt like what I was making. โจ I decided to write her a song that she would enjoy. โจMusic was being streamed at work all the time, so I knew what sort of songs she was into. Classic Rock. Australian Pub Rock in particular. She was a single mum in her 50โs, a strong, hard woman, an Aussie battler. โจI wrote Proud Woman in a weekend, and recorded it at home. A mate I regularly jam with did the vocals and when it was done, I uploaded it and shared it with her when I got to work.
She liked it. โจThe experience taught me the value of an audience of one. The focus on writing a song for one person, with the aim that they - that person in particular - enjoys it, gave me a different perspective on the whole creative process.
