Dr. H.’s testimony from detention (one testimony out of many quoted):
During the March 2024 raid on Nasser Hospital, Dr. H., an orthopedic surgeon, was beaten by soldiers who “kicked him in the stomach, groin and testicles, ordered him to undress, handcuffed him, blindfolded him and led him to the hospital courtyard.” He was then taken to the notorious Sde Teiman military camp.
Dr. H. testified that during his 69 days at Sde Teiman, guards put him in a “disco room” - a room without mattresses where deafening music played non-stop. He was then taken to an interrogation room where, according to his testimony, “they tortured me for six days, with my hands and feet tied behind my back to a chair. They beat me in the stomach and slapped me while my eyes were covered.”
After 43 days, Dr. H. was transferred to a detention facility in Petah Tikva for continued interrogation. There he was examined by a doctor who confirmed he had developed hernias in the groin and abdomen area. “Despite him saying I needed surgery and shouldn’t be interrogated,” Dr. H. recounted, “I was returned to Sde Teiman without any medical treatment. When I returned to the detention facility, the soldiers beat me, slammed my head on the floor, pushed me into the sand, and kicked and punched me.”

We went ahead and disabled the X11 session by default and from now on it needs to be explicitly enabled when building the affected modules. (gnome-session, GDM, mutter/gnome-shell).
Aside from a simple flag change and a recompile before Canonical adds the packages to their repo, it doesn't sound like this will affect Ubuntu at all. They probably already do this anyway to add their own little patches.
The most likely scenario is that all the X11 session code stays disabled by default for 49 with a planned removal for GNOME 50.
GNOME 50 is when Canonical will truly need to either move to Wayland or do something else.
Seems fairly reasonable of a timeline from the GNOME team, IMO.

Israel’s Defense Minister ordered activists be shown propaganda videos, calling them “Hamas supporters” while referring to Greta Thunberg as “antisemite”. The Foreign Ministry’s publicity stunts arm released a message dismissing humanitarian mission as “selfie yacht”. Also notable, Israeli reports refer to Gaza’s coastline as “Israeli shores”.
Complete stupidity. Brutal thuggery. Piratical seizure of a mission intended to bring awareness to the genocide happening every day. The flotilla succeeded in producing from Israel a response of an unrestrained thug, exactly what it was meant to illustrate. 3,5/5 Bon suspense, assez prenant, mais énervant : le personnage principal n'est pas crédible, il supporte sans broncher des traumatismes terribles comme un vrai psychopathe, pour à la fin agir comme un idiot plein de scrupules et de ressentiment. Les épisodes des aventures pirates (le temple de cristal, les anthropophages affamés de l'île perdue) ne sont pas du tout crédibles non plus, et manquent terriblement de cohérence. Finalement c'est un genre de "pulp"...

GNOME 50 is when Canonical will truly need to either move to Wayland or do something else.
Seems fairly reasonable of a timeline from the GNOME team, IMO.
