In today's "seagulls being absolute menaces" news: Gull samples man's coffee, before stealing the mug and dropping it in the sea. (An actual china mug, not some paper thing.) Could argue the gull was justified, as the man had been installing anti bird spikes on nearby houses, before stopping off at a pub for lunch. 😉

Train is running late (not unusual) but glad to see the train quite full headed downtown
Lots more people getting on at the next (bigger) station: really young people, old people, people wearing Hong Kong shirts.

We now have a political assassin impersonating a police officer on the loose in Minnesota, which, aside from being horrifying in and of itself, underscores the danger of the proliferation of anonymous federal law enforcement deployments from a wide variety of unfamiliar agencies conducting aggressive immigration operations across the country.
Is that uniformed person who's stopping you or demanding entry to your home legit or a psychotic vigilante seeking to harm you? It's impossible to know.
I agree about the gravity of this proliferation of anonymous law enforcement deployments.

Two weeks ago, Adams held a town hall in Williamsburg where numerous members of the neighborhood’s Hasidic community criticized the bike lane. They cited a viral video where a person riding an e-bike crashed into a young child who dashed into the bike lane from a double parked car.
An online petition against the redesigned bike lane titled “DOT: Please Stop the Murder of our Children” has more than 3,000 signatures.

Have you noticed recently A Lot Of YT videos have flashy subtitles or voice over created by A.I
Well those subtitles that most Youtubers are starting to use on their videos are A.I generated, which means those users have made agreements/contracts with A.I knowingly or unknowingly.
But what do those contracts entail?
The contracts will legally give A.I the right to access the back end of your mobile device, and A.I will be surveilling your activities and snooping on your private life. Nothing must be hidden from A.I - nothing indeed.
WhatsApp is already doing this, but all A.I generated apps that you download and work with, will become the snooper in your online life with your permission.

Meta devised an ingenious system (“localhost tracking”) that bypassed Android’s sandbox protections to identify you while browsing on your mobile phone — even if you used a VPN, the browser’s incognito mode, and refused or deleted cookies in every session. This is the process through which Meta (Facebook/Instagram) managed to link what you do in your browser (for example, visiting a news site or an online store) with your real identity (your Facebook or Instagram account), even if you never logged into your account through the browser or anything like that.
Meta accomplishes this through two invisible channels that exchange information:
(i) The Facebook or Instagram app running in the background on your phone, even when you’re not using it.
(ii) Meta’s tracking scripts (the now-pulled illegal brainchild uncovered last week), which operate inside your mobile web browser.

In time for the 40th #Anniversary of the #Beanfield (1 June #2025), when the poo #lice #brutally attacked a #convoy of #people heading to #Stonehenge for the annual #free #festival in #1985, we are releasing hours of previously #unseen #video testimony taken in 1990/91 during the making of our #documentary ‘Operation Solstice’.
#Footage that has survived over 30 years, saved largely thanks to Dale Vince, who funded the digitisation, and who took on the role of outrider on the day. Some once familiar faces and voices here, Mo, Phil and Don, now long since passed, brought back to bear witness to the shameful barbarism of that day, ‘the worst police treatment of people’ in living memory, for which there was no public inquiry, but about which we will neither forgive nor forget.

The embassy's exterior "envelope" curtain forms an interesting abstract pattern that reminds me of the sound absorbing tiles that line recording studios and anechoic chambers. This photo shows the western-facing side.

It replaced a mid-century modern structure (by Eero Saarinen, now being redeveloped as a hotel) in the more traditionally fancypants Grosvenor Square neighborhood.
