Notice how...
...no one says "All Firefighters Are Bastards"/ "AFAB"?
...no one says "Fuck the Firefighters"? (Well, some do, but not in the same context as cops that's for damn sure.)

Speaking of fucking, notice how...
...firefighters all have big hoses they get to play with, while cops have tiny guns.
...firefighters have never been sued for excessive force or false arrest.
...when a firefighter shows up at your house you're not worried about your dog getting shot.
...when a firefighter shows up at your house you know they're there to rescue you, not kill you.

Fuck the motherfucking police.
And not in a good way.

Cities Skylines Launcher problems on Hyprland

Hey everyone, I hope this is the right place.

I have just installed Hyprland (love it to bits so far) but I have run into my first problem. When I try to start Cities Skylines on Hyprland, it doesn't start. It says it's running on Steam but the Launcher Window is nowhere to be seen.

Any idea how to remedy this? Anyone else have the same issue? Thanks,

LIBÉRATION IMMÉDIATE DES 3 OTAGES DE LA FLOTTILLE DE LA LIBERTÉ

> Three members of the Madleen team—Pascal Maurieras, Yanis Mhamdi, and Marco van Rennes—are still illegally detained by Israel and may be held for another month.

Arrested unlawfully in international waters and denied basic rights, they are being held in inhumane conditions, with only one hour of light per day and severe skin infections from bed bug infestations.

This is not detention. It is hostage-taking.

We urge the French and Dutch governments to take immediate action to secure their release and safe return home—especially with airports now shut due to Israel’s aggression on Iran.

We demand they be held together, treated humanely, and that international law be upheld.

The struggle continues until Palestine is free.

Quoting Michael Sfard, a lawyer specializing in human rights law and the laws of war, on why Israel's actions in #Gaza cannot be erased by a war with #Iran, and why attention must remain focused on Gaza:

Sfard says that many Israelis are caught up in nationalistic fervor, encouraged by media that amplifies pro-war voices. There's a danger that the government will exploit a potential conflict with Iran to intensify its actions in Gaza, possibly leading to further ethnic cleansing and mass killings. The destruction in Gaza is indefensible and potentially constitutes war crimes, with future generations bearing the burden of these actions.

[…] "No war with Iran will erase our crimes in Gaza. Over the weekend, a shocking article by Nir Hasson, Yarden Michaeli, and Avi Sharf was published here about the destruction of Gaza. Read it. Look at the aerial photographs. This is us, the Israeli people of the 21st century, erasing cities, destroying towns, crushing villages. There is no military explanation that can even come close to justifying this destruction, which from a legal standpoint is a clear crime. And that's before we talk about starvation and the use of humanitarian aid to carry out transfer. Generations of Israelis will have to live with the mark of Cain that we have branded ourselves with, in actions that in the worst case are crimes against humanity and war crimes, and in the even worse case accumulate to the suspicion of genocide."

This is a video from demonstrations in Madrid in 2012. The guy on the floor was being beat by the cops. And the he started screaming "I'm your partner!!! Fuuuck" 😄 They beat the sh...t out of him and he was a cover cop.
It's a classic. After this they started to wear orange bandanas in their arms. So, it was clear the ones starting the "riots" were cops. 😁

I'm working on a new monthly budget spreadsheet and I'm doing it in #Gnumeric as opposed to #LibreOffice #Calc and you know what?

Gnumeric is pretty damn good!
Familiar UI. Familiar formulas.

Only thing I don't like is that I have to use dark mode because of my eyes and that worksheet is just too bright! But nothing that some cell formatting can't take care of.

Saved it out and moved to the appropriate place to use as a template so now any new projects will use the dark mode template I created.

I highly encourage you to give Gnumeric a try. LibreOffice Calc isn't the only alternative Microsoft Excel app out there!

Israel Attacks Iran: An Open Source Investigation

Israel's bellicose warmongering over Iran's nuclear program is of course nothing new. In fact, if you've followed my reporting on the subject over the years, you'll know all about unconvicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu's string of increasingly outlandish publicity stunts and intelligence-insulting cartoon drawings warning of the "imminent threat" of Iran's nuclear program.

if anybody ever finds this post and has tips on natural or off-label inexpensive #MastCellStabilizers please let me know.

I can't take steroids or LTRAs for allergies and OTC mast cell stabilizers are fairly limited.

olopatadine is finally available OTC which gives me hope, but I would like to have an additional tool or two in my toolkit if fexofenadine + olopatadine + cromolyn sodium proves insufficient to control my severe allergic rhinitis & conjunctivitis. #MastCellStabilizer

ANARCHIST PUBLIC SERVICE, pt 4

If you go to “No Kings” rallies today, no doubt it will be all you can do—as an anarchist who believes deeply in liberatory practices and politics—to maintain your cool when faced with both liberals’ and authoritarians’ lack of solidarity . Go with other anarchists and be each other’s support system, and debrief (rant, cry, laugh, and/or chill) afterward.

But also go as “friendly anarchist factions” to model what solidarity actually looks like—even if too many nonanarchistic folks don’t yet know what that feels like or how to do it. I always wish that people didn’t need to be, say, tear gassed or arrested to learn that ACAB isn’t just a slogan, and that anarchists will almost certainly be the ones to have their backs. But such is the wearisome “learning curve,” and the more folks who see beloved community self-defense modeled for them, unflinchingly, on the streets, the more they’ll understand how (and why!) to stick side-by-side too—including with us.

Be solidarity.

‘ Battle of the #Beanfield’ 1st June #1985

5 May 2025 #travellers #stonehenge #convoy
A sequence of photographs covering event that became known as 'Battle of the Beanfield' 1st June 1985.

At a meeting of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), in early 1985, it was resolved to obtain a High Court Injunction preventing the annual gathering at Stonehenge. This was the device to be used to justify the attack at the "Battle of the Beanfield" on the 1st June in Hampshire. Well it wasn't a battle really.

It was an ambush.

It was a magnificent convoy stretching and snaking its way over the Wiltshire Downs, as far as you could see in either direction. It was a warm Saturday afternoon as we drove through villages, people stood outside their garden gates, smiling and waving at us. A carnival atmosphere with little evidence of the 'local opposition' that we had been lead to believe was one of the reasons for obtaining the court orders. A police helicopter watched overhead but there was little other sign of trouble until........

Seven miles from Stonehenge (the exclusion order was for four and a half miles), just short of the A303 and the Hampshire / Wiltshire border, two lorry loads of gravel where tipped across the road. Up to this point, no laws had been broken. I got out of my truck to take photographs when I first saw some twenty policemen running down the convoy ahead of me smashing windscreens without warning and 'arresting' / assaulting the occupants, dragging them out through the windscreens broken glass.

I and others who saw this were fearful of the level of violence used by the police in making arrests. Clearly we were in for a beating, again! Running back to our vehicles, we drove through a hedge in to the adjacent field.

The scale of the police operation was becoming obvious. The same level of violence had been applied to the rear of the convoy. Large numbers of police in many lines deep could be seen on the road forming up.

From then on, the situation grew more tense. More police reinforcements were brought up wearing one-piece blue overalls - without numbers!, 'Nato-style' helmets with visors and both full length perspex shields and circular black plastic shields. A 'stand-off' situation developed with sporadic outbreaks of violence.

Working with the festival welfare agencies, I was directed to a number of head injuries that has resulted from the initial conflict on the road. All of these injuries were truncheon wounds to the back of the head and some people were quite distressed. I was shown one man, about 20 years old who was semi-conscious with yet another head wound. I was fearful of him dying. An ambulance was called and I assisted the attendant and helped convey the casualty through police lines. The ambulance crew were initially apprehensive about their safety but assurances were given.

In between the taking of photographs, the copious first aid and concerns for my family and friends, I attempted to start negotiations and set up lines of communications with the middle-ranking 'line' officers. There was no 'middle ground' to be found, so, with others I organised a meeting with Assistant Chief Constable Lional Grundy. He was in charge of the overall operation. It was early evening before we were able to meet him. The tone of the meeting was 'do what your told or else!' He reiterated that people should be leave their vehicle and be arrested.

Because of the fear of what that might entail (after viewing the violence earlier in the day), those I met with were reticent about this.

Police in full kit were now massed in large numbers and obviously getting ready to charge. It turns out that police had been arresting a lot of people around Stonehenge earlier in the afternoon. At 7.00pm, Grundy had sixteen hundred policemen from six counties, Ministry of Defence police and some believe, army officers in police uniforms!!!

They charged.

The scenes that followed were recorded by media that had evaded the police blockade. The story was international news. 'Dixon of Dock Green' type policing was dead. That which Britain was noted for had now changed to para-military operations against minority groups.

Kim Sabido of ITN, a reporter used to visiting the worlds 'hot spots' did an emotional piece-to-camera as he described the worst police violence that he had ever seen.

“What we, the ITN camera crew and myself as a reporter - have seen in the last 30 minutes here in this field has been some of the most brutal police treatment of people that I’ve witnessed in my entire career as a journalist. The number of people who have been hit by policemen, who have been clubbed whilst holding babies in their arms in coaches around this field, is yet to be counted...There must surely be an enquiry after what has happened today”. There wasn't.

Coming up for the 40th anniversary of these events

#33 SECONDS OF #HORROR! AIR #INDIA CONTINUES TO HAVE SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING

ANARCHIST PUBLIC SERVICE, pt 3

Back in the day, ahead of a big protest, anarchists set up “convergence centers”: big, scrappy, communal spaces where folks could not only find each other, make and eat food, plug into art and media making, etc. in the days before an (often direct) action based on a wide-ranging diversity of tactics—under an umbrella name like “Carnival against Capitalism” or “No Olympics on Stolen Native Lands”—but also skill up together.

There’s no time to do this before the poorly named “No Kings” (aka, it’s fascism) protests tmrw. Yet you could easily do pop-up skill shares. So many “newbies” are open to learning and eager for alternatives!

Remake the urban landscape into temporary autonomous “classrooms.” Use public furniture or gathering spots, or bring blankets or chairs to sit on. Write the skill share topic on cardboard and display it. Run around and announce skill shares as they start. Bored protesters waiting for a march to begin or tired of listening to rally speeches make great participants. Circle up and start passing along handy skills—say, how to help each other rinse tear gas out of eyes or turn a T-shirt into a mask (over your N95), or how to do forms of community self-defense or jail support. Offer an Anarchism 101 or local rad history talk too. Exercise hands and minds, encouraging liberal and progressive folks to (begin to) think and act for themselves.

It's good optics, though: "No Kings" is short, to the point, expresses a sentiment that basically everyone in the US - no matter their politics or lack thereof - can get behind, and will be fairly impossible for anyone to distort into sounding like it means something more divisive. It also implicitly carries its criticism of Trump in a way that will get through even to people who aren't paying attention and would dismiss most criticisms of Trump as "just more politics."

Honestly, for the goal it's trying to achieve, it's fairly brilliant, IMO.

If we ask 100 random ppl to describe their ideal society, which real/fictional countries would the answers resemble the most?

This is... A bit of a dumb question, but I am really curious

100 random people because I think due to personal beliefs/political orientation the answer would differ, maybe someone would really like the Nordic countries, some would like China/Japan for good infrastructure, some would like the US due to extreme wealth...

Also I don't mean what their favorite country is, but whether what their favorite country "should be" given their beliefs
