as for whether or not you can take direct action, is up to you. i didn't put any such obligation on your head.
but to do things you do not understand, is to hope that lashing out frantically is necessarily productive.
i am not strictly opposed to tor. but tor has downsides. tor anonymity is requisite on many nodes working in conjunction. a bad actor with enough material resources can easily set up more nodes than everyone on the fedi put together. now communications are compromised.
every person on this plant that i share blood with, except 3, are currently in iran. i would love to hear from them. but not as much i would like to hear from them after this is all over.

the internet is not saving anyone. if it were, the powers that be would pull the plug immediately. no power is, has been, or will ever be brought down via online activism. we do not control the cables, we do not control the satellites.
and neither do the iranians.
