About a year ago, I heard someone mention that Outer Wilds had a VR mod. I do have a VR setup and am an experienced VR player, so I really could experience this game for the first time in VR.
Is that reasonable or should I play it the first time with flat graphics?
I have only played the game in VR and loved it. The mod worked great for me a year or two ago so unless a patch went through it still should. Since you’re an experienced VR player I don’t think you’ll have too much issue with motion sickness. That being said it takes a lot to make me nauseous, so your results may vary. I think it’s an amazing way to get drawn into the world.

- The Iranian regime is genuinely, truly awful. There is very little the Iranian regime has done to the people under its rule that the Israeli state has not also done to Palestinians. All of these regimes deserve to be destroyed—by the people they rule and abuse, not by rival monstrous regimes.
- Real human beings are suffering because of this—the civilians on the receiving ends of these strikes, the people who will sicken and die if nuclear materials are exposed and scattered, the children who go hungry because meals were stolen from their mouths to pay for ballistic missiles and B2 bombers and one-way attack drones.
- US news outlets are writing headlines like “US dragged into war with Iran!” and deploying the passive voice like they’re covering a cop who shot and murdered a civilian. Gramsci and Althusser were correct, the US press is an institutional state apparatus that exists to reproduce hegemony and just generally fucking sucks.
- Iran’s next logical response is to launch retaliatory attacks against US facilities and personnel across the region. More civilians will suffer and die.
- Despite like a century’s worth of damning empirical evidence, air power alone cannot win wars. Israel and the US now face the choice of either repeating Trump’s failed war against the Huthis—bombing stuff for a few months at enormous cost before getting bored and declaring victory—or escalating.
- Israel’s ground forces have been reduced to the status of a colonial constabulary that can do occupation duty and commit war crimes but isn’t in a position to fight a major ground campaign. I can’t even begin to imagine how incompetent US forces would operate under Trump’s command.
I know just a little about Iranian history and think it's pretty unlikely they'll give in to demands to surrender. I really despise the regime there, but it's the regular people who also hate the regime who are going to suffer. I feel a very strong sense of deja vu from 2003.

The street that my mum lives in is a one-way street, but wasn't marked as such on #Google Maps. This caused many drivers to drive the wrong way. I have tried to edit it on Google Maps (there is such functionality), but to no avail. No matter how often I submitted a change (with photos of street signs!), Google said "Sorry, we could not verify it".
Solution: Edit the street on #OpenStreetMap! A few months after I did this, Google seems to have stolen the data, as it regularly does, and now the street is correct in both datasets!
I have a similar experience. Google Maps shows a hiking path in my area that doesn't exist which sends hikers the wrong way. I tried to edit it 3 times showing the exact shape of the actual path which is visible on the satellite image. I never even got a notice on my edit and the shown path is still wrong.
I wonder if their 'verification' process is literally just "look it up on other maps like OSM and see if it says the same thing" so that they can claim that Technically, It Was Contributed To Us

To make an edit on Google Maps you need another user with privileges to approve the change. Or make lots of changes yourself to level up and have more control.

In my experience, edits on Apple Maps are applied within some days up to two weeks at most. They appear to use some user based trust rating, as my initial edits needed significantly more time. I made approximately 100 edits so far.

I picked up an old optiplex I'm trying to use as a NAS and do other things with. Initially I put Debian on there but felt like I was running into too many problems with things like power management, remot desktop, Docker, and mounting drives.
So I put Openmediavault on there and it's working now. But what are some of the best ways to get the most out of it?
Can I do most things through the browser interface, or should I remote into it to install things?
How easily can I mount it as a network drive to other computers? I still have a Windows PC so I'd like to access it from there too if possible.
And what's the best way to get other services running on it? I'm thinking of how it's possible to set up torrenting software and control it with a remote app from your phone. (For managing and sharing my distros, of course).

Speaking of maps, I've noticed several articles now, especially in the AP, with maps of the area where Iran is partly cut off so that it looks significantly smaller than it actually is. Granted it must be challenging to create a squarish map of that area that includes both Israel and Iran, but I can't help thinking this is an editorial choice. Iran is a large country, much larger than Iraq and almost the size of Saudi Arabia. Obviously there's much more to the situation than geographic area but I do think the choices in visuals can be telling.

Feels like this song which was rather in context with the US and the USSR that ordinary people do not want war. Irony: The Box is a Canadian band and they posed as Americans. Came to mind when I traveled in Canada recently and the FM started to play that song.
