It's a company which receives generous (70% I hear) #EU funding.

That's our tax money.

We are just funneling money straight to #Israel, to develop more weapons.

New development is that Israel is trying to buy the Lavion Port, which is up for sale. In doing so, they will own a port in a #NATO country, again, funded by #EU generous taxpayers.

Trends in Arctic sea ice thickness from 2011–2025

Satellite observations reveal that the extent of sea ice in the Arctic is once again hovering near record lows for this time of year – underscoring a troubling and persistent trend. This issue is a key topic at ESA’s Living Planet Symposium in Vienna, where scientists are emphasising the critical role that ESA’s Climate Change Initiative Sea Ice Project and CryoSat mission have had in helping to underpin these findings.

Looking ahead, the ability to monitor polar sea ice is in safe hands, as the development of the new CRISTAL mission is progressing well and the first satellite will be ready for launch in the second half of 2027.

KDE Connect refuses to work - (solved, thanks for help!)

Hi, on fresh install (multiple) of Fedora 42 GNOME the KDE Connect app after install wont open.

Either it will stay running in processes but nothing will display or it will immediately crash with an error.

GSconnect doesn't even show up after install.

If I install Fedora 42 KDE it works fine. But I don't like KDE. Any idea what's up with this?

EDIT:
Thanks for help, anyhow. In the end I found that I will just use KDE Connect for clipboard between my laptop, PC and phone but the desired functionality I wanted when connected to my phone is available with scrcpy and it's quite something. Can't believe it has such a stupid name as I never heard of it. It's so freaking good!

So got GSConnect to work... I had to also enable it in Extension manager for some reason. I had no idea it's an extension since I've just i stalled it as RPM package from the discover store.

Anyhow, it's just confusing. I was installing KDE Connect on both my PC and laptop. I never even heard of GSConnect until I started troubleshooting and I thought it's just some GNOME fork of KDE-Connect, not actually a mandatory replacement for KDE-Connect on GNOME.

It may make sense in the name but the name makes it even more confusing. Since it works on Android/Windows,... Why would I not assume it will work on Linux GNOME?

The Knesset Committee discussed removing MK Ayman Odeh following his January social media post expressing joy over “the release of hostages and prisoners” and calling to “free both peoples from the yoke of occupation.” During the hearing, Likud MK Osher Shkalim shouted at Odeh: “In another country they would put you in front of a firing squad.” Committee chair Ofir Katz called Odeh “the eighth front” and said “your presence contaminates the Knesset, there’s no place here for such terrorists.”

The legal advisor clarified the discussion must focus only on the January tweet, not other statements. Odeh defended his position, stating the government “commits crimes against humanity in Gaza” and accused officials who “justified killing 50,000 Gazans” of lacking moral authority.

The Association for Civil Rights condemned the proceedings as “fascism.”

Likely overkill/not as performant as could be for a static site but let me know if you’d like to take this as an opportunity to play with Kitten and see how it holds up. Deployment would be via git push to your repo and I can set you up on a small-web.org subdomain and you can then point whatever domain you want to it from Kitten’s settings. Again: (a) won’t be as performant as a fine-tuned static site server, (b) not sure how it’ll hold up under load but willing to test it if you are. Will repost your post anyway so others can suggest perhaps more suitable options 😀

Palestine Action said that pro-Israel groups had lobbied for the ban and there is evidence to support that contention.
Internal government documents released under freedom of information laws have revealed meetings, apparently to discuss Palestine Action, between the government and Israeli embassy officials, although they were heavily redacted. Ministers have also met representatives from the Israeli arms firm
Elbit Systems.
The organisation We Believe in Israel, which Labour MP Luke Akehurst used to be director of, began a campaign this month to ban Palestine Action.
In an accompanying report, it stated: "In July 2022, the group was investigated under counter-terrorism protocols following intelligence suggesting contact between some of its members and individuals linked to Hamas-aligned networks abroad (see: Metropolitan Police briefing, classified).
"While the investigation yielded no direct terror charges, it underscored the degree of concern shared by law enforcement agencies over Palestine Action's increasingly radicalised behaviour."
It is not clear how or why We Believe in Israel was granted access to classified documents.
There was no reference to links to Hamas in Cooper's statement but she did refer to Palestine Action as threatening infrastructure which supports Ukraine and Nato, echoing language in We Believe in Israel's report.

Activists from the Stop Arming Israel campaign blocked Monday morning the sites of the companies Syensqo, in Brussels, and OIP-Elbit, in Tournai, which they accuse of being “accomplices in the #genocide and Israel's colonial project” in #Gaza.
The police arrested nearly 700 activists from the Stop Arming #Israel campaign on Monday, the organizers of the actions said in the evening.

The UK government’s intention to proscribe Palestine Action under the Terrorism Act 2000 marks a significant escalation in the treatment of civil disobedience. It elevates a group known for throwing red paint at buildings and military aircraft into the same legal category as al-Qaida and Islamic State. If there’s a serious threat from these activists, we’ve yet to see it – just a ministerial statement discussing civil disobedience in the language of counterinsurgency.
