The administration is becoming the government that is the exact opposite of those in the EU. Violating every right to privacy. What surveillance is now being implemented on citizens as well? The internet has eyes and ears. Everything you do, say and post will be used against you if needed. Dystopian. But will they actually have software that can pull it all together? Just as AI can become “garbage in…garbage out”, maybe there’s a way to blur it all to preserve anonymity?
After all the "security" laws and regulations that were invented after 2001 I decided to forget going to USA for good. Those were mainly aimed at Muslims (like me) or POC. For images there isnt really anything because it would require hashing all images uploaded to all instances and then allow people to search through them which is computationally expensive. Basically you want reverse image search like tineye.com but only for lemmy.
For a link, you'll see it after posting if it appears in the list of places the link has been crossposted to, at which point you can delete it.
An image, that is more technically challenging because it requires detecting whether two images are the same, which is not as trivial as it sounds. But for images, I think reposts are no big deal anyway, many people will not have seen it the first time.
