Haven't really seen anyone talking about this. A fanatical convert to Talmudic Judaism crucified one Christian pastor and had plans to target more. He explicitly laid out his religious motive for doing this to "idolaters." The only mainstream coverage I've seen studiously ignored this aspect and made it seem the guy was just a random lunatic who crucifies people for no reason.

You know what I miss in word processors: Show Control Codes.

That gave you everything you needed to know why this thing won't do what you want it to and why this other thing is stuck and you can't move it. It also made it so much easier to troubleshoot inserting images.

There were no secrets.

Microsoft Word keeps secrets and I don't like it.

@Blueteamsherpa It's part of the way there. What I really want is Markdown but with all of Word's advanced features.
Word doesn't show me control codes for things like italics, bold, tables, URLs.
I tend to use Obsidian or VS Code for first drafts in pure Markdown and then copy it over to Word to finalize it with stuff like headers, footers, page numbers, table of contents, etc.

I used to use OneNote just for its ability to organize ideas but its so aggressive with the genAI crap that I'm looking for alternatives.
Also, I feel like OneNote hasn't had any meaningful updates or added features in years. It's still stuck in 2010.

I recently saw a tourism ad from #Quebec #Canada that nearly made me cry. A visitor is checking in at a hotel. When the clerk asks where he’s traveling from, he looks ashamed and whispers “I’m American”. The clerk presses a button under the desk, which I initially thought was a panic button. Instead it unlocks a panel allowing her to come out from behind the desk, and she gives the guy a big hug. I nearly lost it. I wish I could move to Canada. This meant a lot to me.❤️

I was recently at two state parks in FL, usually full to the gills, but neither big park seemed to have any day tourists, Empty roads & paths! But packed with US'ians in huge motor homes. From Minnesota, GA, TX ... Meanwhile, homeowners who think it's time to sell and leave 'Paradise' are not finding buyers. The wealthy may not care, mansions are still being built, a short private jet-ride from Mar-a-lago....

yea so the thing about iran's underground nuke facilities, is that if they were really "totally obliterated" as in, the blast wave went all the way down to penetrate the actual structure, there would probably be video of the blast wave coming out of the entrances. they shot the bombs down the ventilation shafts so you'd expect it to blow the entrances out.

i figure if such video existed they would have shown it. instead we just see holes punched in the ground near the vent shafts.

still not convinced. but eh whatever it was a good show and everyone backed down. better than a ground assault

aah I have early signs of arthritis myself in my right hand from a boxer’s fracture when I was an amateur fighter. I’m not too familiar with the shinai but as I understand it the recommended hand protection is called a “kote” but I think any lobster mitten style glove would work.

I don’t recommend using any 5 finger style gloves but if it comes down to affordability its better than nothing. Trust me though, spending $100+ on hand protection is worth the investment to protect your hands if you want to spar with any amount of force.
