Years ago, NYC was awesome & so alive with incredible food, Broadway shows, etc. I have fond memories of going there to visit my maternal grandparents & other family members. There are multitudes of US cities now in squalid ruin thanks to greedy, corrupt politicians. It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu. He is a War Hero, and a Prime Minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring Great Success in getting rid of the dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran. Importantly, he is right now in the process of negotiating a Deal with Hamas, which will include getting the Hostages back. How is it possible that the Prime Minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a Courtroom all day long, over NOTHING (Cigars, Bugs Bunny Doll, etc.). It is a POLITICAL WITCH HUNT, very similar to the Witch Hunt that I was forced to endure. This travesty of “Justice” will interfere with both Iran and Hamas negotiations. In other words, it is INSANITY doing what the out-of-control prosecutors are doing to Bibi Netanyahu. The United States of America spends Billions of Dollar a year, far more than on any other Nation, protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to stand for this. I am a licensed attorney (in California) and also admitted before various Federal district courts.

Today I got yet another of those postcards about a class action settlement - you know, the kind where the harmed victims get a pittance while the attorneys walk away with the lion's share.

In this case, the attorneys will get about $75,000,000, the lead plaintiffs maybe $20,000, and the rest of us ... probably close to nada.

Class actions are a good thing - especially since yesterday when SCOTUS has constrained the scope of judicial orders.

But class actions where the action is really a means for certain law firms to tailor cases to generate vast piles of income while the actual victims get a lollypop, are, to my mind, both unprofessional and unethical.

Yeah, I'll send in my claim form - but I don't anticipate that I'll get enough in return to cover the cost of the postage stamp.

After holding space and continuously protesting violent ICE kidnappings since June 11th, protesters showed out last night in pdx. Around 300 people showed up after a march made its way to the ICE facility last night.

Throughout the day, federal agents made various arrests. During this push, feds deployed a lot of munitions and teargas and made at least 3 arrests all to clear their driveway and let a few vehicles out. I saw at least two people who were taken down to the ground with feds holding them down with knees on their necks and heads. One of the people who was screaming had some blood visible on their scalp.

A few hours after this Portland Police intervened and declared an unlawful assembly. DHS and other feds came out at least two more times after this to throw teargas at a small group standing on the sidewalk across the street.

Key 13 Uncooked

I've finally bitten the bullet and overhauled my Faircamp site, updating to the latest Faircamp and moving it to a new server in the process.

As part of the move, I've removed a bunch of old singles which have been replaced by (I hope) superior versions on Pretentious Incongruity, and also decided to replace the old Archive release in the process, as several of those tracks also ended up remixed/remastered.

When looking for tracks for the lobby for the recent #BonkWave release party live streams, I ended up going a long way back into my SoundCloud archive, and found quite a few tracks that I want to keep hold of in a slightly more accessible way.

Uncooked


I came up with the idea of a series of Uncooked releases. These won't have any remixing or remastering, they'll just be loosely themed collections of the archive tracks as they are now – in MP3 and streaming only. But instead of just being on SoundCloud, they'll now be hosted on Faircamp and also available for download for the first time.

I've got five (!) of these releases planned, each with 7 tracks.

Volume 01 is sub-titled Electronic and contains three of the pieces I used in the lobby, as well as a few other tracks from the last five years – including a couple that are relatively recent.

Twitch's onboarding process is actually really nice. All the achievements and analytics really keep you motivated to continue streaming.

I definitely want to see if I can keep up doing weekly streams every Saturday, the response from people on fedi has just been amazing over the past two weeks and I really can't thank you all enough for that.

The main issue I'm facing currently is just coming up with something interesting to do every week; I just don't really know what to do now that the playstation's fixed. I don't think I want to give in and do gaming streams, I do game a lot, I think the hardware tinkering stuff is a lot more unique and might be more interesting to people here.

I've had a DIY keyboard project that I've been sitting on since forever ago, I could give that a try, but if I need to reprint anything, I can't exactly make a stream out of watching an Ender 3 v2 slowly deposit one third of a keyboard chassis for five hours.

- Innolux N140HCG-GQ2 FHD LCD panel
- New Lenovo backlight keyboard (US-ANSI)
- Glass Trackpad from X1 Carbon
- Intel AX210 WiFi module (802.11ax)
- Dual batteries

Literally everything in that laptop, that I need does work on FreeBSD 14.3:

- WiFi with 5Ghz and proper speeds
- Sleep/Resume
- Integrated Webcam
- Power management
- Trackpad
- Thunderbolt Docking (including Audio and HDMI)

It's the perfect development and productvity machine :freebsd:

Women are not safe in Britain and the Government is unlikely to achieve its goal of halving violence against females, the aunt of Zara Aleena has warned.

Speaking on the third anniversary of the murder of the law graduate, Farah Naz said she feared more young women would lose their lives in tragic circumstances because public services, including probation, were broken.

Ms Aleena, 35, was sexually assaulted and killed by career criminal Jordan McSweeney as she walked home in Ilford, east London, in June 2022.

McSweeney, who had 28 convictions for 69 separate offences, had only been released from jail nine days earlier and was wanted for recall to prison having breached probation following his release.

An inquest concluded that failures across multiple agencies had contributed to the death of Ms Aleena, with a coroner telling the Metropolitan Police and the Probation Service to improve their services or risk future deaths.
